Does it cost more to heat/cool a house that is minimally furnished (one bedroom is completely empty) vs one that is furnished at a more "normal" level? TIA

~Clearly my DH did not understand what he was signing up for when he had the telephone company hook up our account. The bill from CenturyLink is $133. :thud: Now, $35 of that is installation charges but that doesn't excuse the insanity of $100 for 35 days of calling and internet. We were paying...

Being practical I am going to assume that we don't win the big lotto. Back to the real world - something that could very much happen... You find a $100 bill lying on the ground. No one is around, so it must be yours. How are you going to spend your new windfall? I think I would stash it...

I am a couponer (manufacturer, e-coupons, printable, etc) and I match coupons to weekly sales at the grocery store. Our household consists of myself, my husband, an 8 year old son and 6 year old daughter. While I know that couponing saves me tons each week (I average 32% savings each week), I...

I try really hard not to waste electricity, no one is home from about 8:30AM till 4:00PM during the week which helps. My electricity usage bill is only $21.72 monthly but there is a charge on here for $27.36 for Standard offer service. That's more then what I use for electricity. What is that?

I love Dave Ramsey, and his message. I have 700 bucks on a hospital bill. Orig bill was $2700, but I made a $100 a month deal with the hospital, and always paid it more when I could. Saying that, I could transfer money out of my savings and get this off my back, but it seems silly to do when...

:cheergrl:A few years ago we started using our local gas/electric company's Budget Billing Plan (open to everyone, not just those who are low-income, or have other special needs). So now, every October our bill is readjusted up or down, depending on how much we used the previous year. I...

So we looked at our bills and tried to change them into our favor. It was harder than I thought. We researched before getting them the extras like cable internet and cell phones to get what we wanted at a good deal. So trying to lower them today was not very fruitful. Take cable and internet...

I guessed 350.00 but came in with a sweet 348.60. Heh Our bill includes sewer and water in one bill. Sewer 23.07 Water 9.34 (how the heck did this happen? It's usually around 15-18 bucks? My yelling at the kids 30 minute showers and my dead garden?) Electric 309.60 :skept: A very hot hot...

for errors and/or to find ways to cut costs? About a year ago I decided to "simplify" my life by signing up for automatic payment for all my bills. Lately, I have realized that due to this, I have become complacent in reviewing my bills for errors and ways to cut costs and other than putting the...

We moved into this home in March, 2010. When we changed the utilities over to our name, we were told that the previous owners' "Budget Plan" utility bill was set @ $280/month. They would not put us an a Budget Plan until we had lived in the house for 12 months, and they re-figure the budgets in...

So last month I posted that my electric bill went down $82.00. I was happy with that but thought that it could still go down further. I figured that currant usage and the price per kw we should see a bill around $125.00. The new bill came in at $106.00!!! I know that some people may think that...

We've been in the house for three billing cycles. But even then, we still don't know how much we pay on average. Why? I received the most recent bill yesterday and it was for $63. That's my water, waste and drainage together. Last month, it was $160! They're trying to tell me I used 39 cubic...

We had 20 days with our old meter and 12 days with the new "smart meter". So far I am ok with the smart meter. It did help the the electric supplier also lowered the price per Kw too. It is the lowest bill I have had in well over two years. Also this is what else might of helped. 1. Heater...

Our electric bill runs from about $300 in the summer down to about $100 in the winter. I have a graphic showing this, but can't post it because I haven't done 15 posts yet! But if someone would do it for me, let me know and I'll message you the link to post. A couple of points: 1) We had two...

Argh! I went and met DH for lunch today because it was so nice and I just had to get out of the house. The shift cable on my wagon broke as we were leaving the restaurant. At least we were still in the parking lot. And I still have minutes on the tracfone we bought for our christmas trip...

So today I got a notice(4 weeks later) that my December rent payment was not received. I have it sent to go out on the 16th of every month for the following months payment, so the payment sent 11-16 was lost in the mail. The money is auto withdrawn the day the check is sent by my bank. I checked...
