    If anyone has a shady spot, I highly recommend the Lenten Rose. It has attractive foliage all year round, it is the first thing to bloom in my yard, and the blossoms stay fresh practically forever when you cut them, and if you don't cut them they dry beautifully on the plant! Here's a picture:
