~I switched to cooking my hamburger in boiling water after reading a tip here on FV and I love doing it that way. But I can't remember the suggested uses for the broth.
Should I freeze it in ice cube trays like chicken broth?
What recipes can I put it in? Does it make a good soup base?~
First here's the story of the Bottom Round Roast I purchased yesterday. The main
grocery store I shop at has been pulling some tricks lately and I'm really getting
aggravated by this store. Here's the lastest one.
Bottom Round Roast is advertised as a loss leader. It sells for $2.29 a pound...
Hi, I don't know the protocol for this, but I have 10 $1.25 off 100% natural Progresso broth coupons which expire March 2, 2009.
They only have chicken and beef broth, so I won't be using them.
PM me if you're interested, and I guess first reply gets them (unless you need less than 10, then I...
Can anyone tell me how long chicken broth stays good in the refrigerator? I bought a 32 package of chicken broth but didn't use all of it. It's been in the fridge about a week. Should I throw it out? Can I freeze this stuff?
Thanks for your help!
Last night I altered a recipe from this month's 'Rachel Ray' magazine. It came out rather delicious and was quite thrifty and so I would like to share it with you all.
I used a little less that a pound of small shrimp not tiny, but smaller than mediums. Medium woulda been better...
All-Purpose Turkey Broth
1 package of turkey legs (6-8)
3 large carrots, chopped
1 leek, chopped
1 large onion, cut in half
2 stalks celery, chopped
6 sprigs fresh thyme
3 sprgs fresh rosemary
10 whole peppercorns (black, or throw in some pink if you're adventurous)
1 head of garlic, crushed
What would go good with drained off broth from boiling vegetables? Tonight, I cooked green peppers, onions, garlic & tomatoes....what can I do with the leftover liquid?
Also any other suggestions for other types of vegetable broth. Thanks:)
i want to make 1/2 a pot of chicken broth for some chicken and sassfran rice stew tonight i have a pack of 4 chicken thighs bone in. do i just broil it slow all day, is there anything i should add to it? anything special you do?
OK, not really. But I do have several cups in the freezer from the last time I made broth.
Also, my gallon Ziploc bag is too full of bones to stick any more in. Therefore it is time to make broth.
I need to use my broth instead of letting it take up valuable freezer space.
Here are some ideas...
I have a chicken roasting in the oven this morning. Some of the chicken will be today's lunch. Some of it will go into a stirfry tonight. Some of it will go into a curry tomorrow and into sandwiches for my husband's lunch. I plan on boiling the carcass to make broth.
I need a good recipe...
I have a lot of chicken, turkey and beef broth in the freezer that I've saved. Am wondering if I can thaw them out and can for storage on the shelf. I need my freezer space back. Is there anything special I need to do to it?
Okay, I have a really dumb question but I have no idea so here goes.....
I use beef bullion cubes, Would this accomplish the same using beef broth?
For example, in my green beans I always add bullion!!
I read in one of the threads about boiling hamburger instead of frying and then freezing...
