I had a little free time on the weekend, so I built myself a new alcohol stove, one of the pepsi can stoves. It was very very easy and didn't take long, under 1/2 hour. I followed the instructions here: Penny Stove 2.0 - Standard Tecate Cans I just used a few different objects laying around...

I was reading 'The Complete Tightwad Gazette' and it says you can reuse 4L(1 gallon) milk jugs, washed of course...paint them black and fill with water set out in the sunshine and you'll have hot water to use when camping. Just thought I'd share what I read...going to definately try this Summer...

I'm heading to the Myles Standish State Forest this weekend in Plymouth Mass. Probably my last camping of the season. I had a great camping year this year. I can't even count how many times I camped and or pitched a tent in my friends back yard after a night of hanging around the bonfire...

We are attempting to get back in to tent travelling, which we used to do extensively before the kids came along. I have been working on compiling a master packing list based on past camping experience, family road trips, and notes scribbled on previous vacations about what I wished I had. I...

Have you made your plans for camping this year yet? Last year with dh only working 1/2 of a year we did no camping. I missed it terribly. So this year he is back working full time. I am planning camping trips. Don't have the final plans done yet. But have my ideas. Like to see what...

1:30am Saturday (a tongue-in-cheek account) Dear Villagers, I write this in the event I am eaten by a bear while on my family vacation to the White Mountains of NH. As of this writing I have the list of clothes I want to take with me, just waiting for normal hours to go in to the laundry...

Since I'm new here, I was just wondering ;). If there are campers, do you tent or camper camp? I was also wondering if I was the *only* one who has a "list" of things I pack. Example; clothing, food items, grilling items and etc. If your a "list maker" like myself......would you care to...

I am so excited! Connecticut has a program that is called "Great Parks Pursuit" This is the fourth year the state has done it but this was the first year that I did it. Basically you go to a different state park every week. In the past it was set up almost like a scavenger hunt. There were...

:hurray: My hubby has been working like crazy. Weekends at work, weekends at home. He needed a break, away from home. If we stayed home - he'd work. Last weekend called for rain, we decided to hitch up the camper anyway. I was worried. I didn't want to be trapped in a pop-up all weekend...

I'm excitedly looking ahead to summer (the only time of year I can stand it up here). Last summer my Dh and I got camping gear (bare basics...tent, sleeping bags, etc...no stove, sleep pads, etc.). We only got out to go camping once, but I really enjoyed it. Just a few weeks ago we were...

DH goes camping with the guys every February (around V- day - yeah I know) on their male bonding campout thing down in Big Sur - about 40 miles south of Carmel on the unbelievably beautiful central California coast. Long story short, me and another girl got to go this year. I think the tide...

Being "new" still to Central California I'm still trying to find good weekend trips from our home to go RVing to. We've been to Cachuma Lake (Santa Barbara Co. Park), but all of our other trips have been 3+ hours away. Has anyone camped in these counties?
