I got a nice Hoover Steamvac Spinscrub at Goodwill a couple weeks ago. I paid $30 for it. It works great and I was able to clean all of the carpets with it!! I used Woolite detergent with some vinegar and a little febreeze. It already paid for itself!!

Ok, I waited too long to clean it. I took simple green in a spray bottle, and a scrub brush, sprayed and scrubbed, maybe a 4 foot area. then took the steam cleaner over it. Oh boy do I have areas that did not come clean.. I was going to buy some of the canned spray cleaner, and go over it...

I moved to my new home over the weekend and one of my friends spilled on the sisal carpet in the hallway. Instead of telling me, he just went at it with the green scubber side of a sponge. He removed the stain, but now the patch that he scrubbed is looking more worn than the area around it...

I have two cats, who are 16 and 17 years old. Within the past few months, they have been using a certain area in my living room to do their business. I have tried vinegar and several commercial products with my steam cleaner and I can't get the smell out. I have also tried cleaning the spot...

  8. Calculations and Alternatives
Use 4 teaspoons Oxyclean, 2 teaspoons resolve (or similar) stain remover, and hot water. Works just as well as the expensive Bissel solution I used to buy. My machine needs 8 cups of hot water for this recipe so if your machine holds more or less solution it's pretty easy to adjust.

I have a question. The carpet in my living room is just plain gross and needs replacing plus it is killing my allergies. I ordered one of these a few weeks back, and have now had the chance to try it out on both hardwood, laminate, linoleum, and carpet. I have been reading here about the Swiffer (tried it and hated it) and about rug-cleaning systems. I have to say that this little H20 Mop is GREAT!! It is a...

  14. Green Living
I lugged out the old hoover today to do some back to school cleaning. I was wondering-other than the "green" products that are manufactured and sold in stores--has anyone used any HOME MADE "green" items for a carpet shampooer? I googled it and some say that a vinegar water mix works well...and...
