The hubby drags this upright cleaner home the other day from work. His boss told him to throw it in the dumpster. We came to the conclusion it needs a new belt. I pick up 2 new belts today for $ 3 and open the bottom, and yes, the belt is broke. So I change it. Plug the machine in, and turn...

Used that combo this morning to clear my bathroom sink of whatever was clogging it and it was REALLY clogged. I already had the stuff on hand and it sure beats 6-10 bux for a bottle of drano!

I told my mother to remind me to run to Sears to get some more vacuum cleaner bags as we were all out and she said (Depression Era mama) that what she did when she was in a pinch was to cut off the bottom, empty it and reseal it with duct tape. I tried this (as the bags I buy are cloth & not...

I use all-purpose cleaners ---put them into my own spray bottles, watered down and some times adding stuff (like ammonia for window spray). I've never tried Fabuloso, yet I see it at the Dollar tree and other stores. I've seen it mentioned here, but would like to know more. What do y'all...

  10. Question and Answer
So I am looking to buy a steam cleaner for our home. We were fortunate enough to get a living room set for free (BF was working on a hotel job where they were replacing furniture), it is in great shape, but a bit dingy. Also with 2 dogs and a cat who are pretty sure they own this house, I really...

Use 4 teaspoons Oxyclean, 2 teaspoons resolve (or similar) stain remover, and hot water. Works just as well as the expensive Bissel solution I used to buy. My machine needs 8 cups of hot water for this recipe so if your machine holds more or less solution it's pretty easy to adjust.

  17. Question and Answer
Part of my attempt to live a simpler life is to make whatever I can (especially if it would save some $$). I just realized that I'm all of window cleaner. Could somebody tell me what I could use to make some up? Or is it cheaper to buy windex?

This stuff works great! 1 tbsp salt 1 tbsp baking soda 1 tbsp dish soap 1 cup water Heat water in the microwave for 1 or 2 minutes. Pour hot water into bowl. Place salt, soda, and dishwashing liquid into bowl. Place jewelry in and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse jewelry in cool water...
