I absolutely hate the coop we have currently for the ladies. I am working to convince DH that we need to build one that is a little nicer with a larger run area. I can not free range in my area.
Hoping some of you have plans, photos or advice on an affordable way to build something else...

My state isn't included but if your state is you get a load of fresh fruit and veggies for only $15! From what I see in their pictures, it's a better deal than Aldi. You can also get all organic for only $25.
It's kinda like Angel Food but with F&V. ;) ~
After long, HOT, MUGGY hours of building, and you can see it's not quite done, here is the coop and a few "residents".
The wife got 30 FREE chickens from her boss's wife. She is a school teacher and her students hatch out an egg each as a class project.
At least THEY were free. LOL
DH and I are looking into the following two options for locally owned organic food programs.
The first one is called Home Grown Organics. They do a weekly drop-off of organic produce to your home. I got a call from them today, and they advised me that the single person box ($30) would...

Good morning everyone! I want to share this in case you can find one. I never would have found it if ds hadn't had to go past this little town. However when I did a web search I found it (once I knew and searched "food programs/coop), I'm hoping maybe a search might lead to some in others...
So I've been hanging around FV for a bit and I can't (or just won't) stop talking to all my friends about how useful it is.
We were in another discussion about how to save money the other day.
And friend A says, yeah, but the stuff that's worth like a penny a week isn't really helping that...
Picked up at the new co-op for the first time. We each put in 15$ and here's what I came home with:
6 lbs. bananas

Everything was extremely fresh. I think it will be worth it to continue. This was my first...
We got 16 Buff Orps this spring and we had to build them a little home. We haven't had a chance to paint it yet and we have almost finished the run, which isn't in the pictures. As soon as it is all finished I will post more pics.
Does anyone belong to a co-op in your area? I just found one in my area and joined. Thank goodness there isn't a minimum purchase every months, so I'm not locked into anything. Anyways, they buy through unitedbuyingclubs.com. I was just wondering if anyone gets stuff from them and how the...
i have a quick question.
i was recently looking into food co ops & was wondering if the pricing is average or not.
for membership, it ranges anywhere between 30$ to 55$.
then the food is more expensive than grocers or wholesalers in the area.
i'd like to support local growers, but can't at...

Whenever DH appreciates my frugal efforts, I am thrilled.
Today, we were all sitting around after lunch, eating some of the 'chocolate mint delights' that I'd ordered through SHARE. (Lots more info about the whole program at www.sharecolorado.com).
Well! We all liked the mints -- they taste...
