I have never used cloth diapers for as long as I am now. I used a new detergent and I also gave him wheat and he got a huge rash everywere the diaper touches and on his knees. So no wheat now for a week and I switched back to tide HE soap, lots of rinsing with vinegar, and 3 hot washes with no...
  3. Large Families
Before I ask about that, I am wondering, how BIG is a Large Family? we have 4 kids ( 9 months- 7 years old) and are almost 20 weeks along with our next. I am using our cloth diapers again. I have the ones that have the velcro and the water proof outershell. I know I am spoiled. I bought these...
  4. Pregnancy
Okay, so the Freecycle gods have smiled down upon us. We have been blessed with 5 plain ol' cloth diapers, 6 velcro fastened fitted cloth diapers, and 10 prefold diapers. Grand total is 21 diapers, 13 of which I should be able to adjust to fit baby as long as I need to. None of them require...
  5. Pregnancy
I saw the post about cloth diaper reviews but I figured I would start a new one to get some specific help. We may be expecting but we won;t find out for sure for another week or so. But I have been looking into cloth diapers. With our first I wanted to breast feed and cloth diaper but wasn't...
  6. Pregnancy
I feel like I'm the only one who ever posts in this forum, but oh well -- 15 days til due date! Okay, so I need some opinions on the cloth diapers. Once baby comes along, we intend to go with disposables til we know what size we're going to be needing. Then we're planning to switch to cloth...
  7. Just Tips
Not sure if this is the right place for this post but the product is considered baby gear. I wasn't thinking frugally when I put a Diaper Dekor (similar to a diaper genie) on my registry. I was just "first time mom scan-happy". I didn't consider the cost of refills (duh!). (or just using a...

  9. Money challenges
I'm determined to do cloth diapering with my next born child. Reading about it, start up costs range anywhere from $400-$800, depending on which article you read. I am not spending this much money. So my challenge to myself is to get a "start-up stash" for less than $150. So for my stash I need...

  11. Make It Yourself
What can and can't be used on cloth diapers is pretty restrictive- no brighteners, bleach, softeners, etc. Does anyone know if the recipe I found (maybe here?) that uses fels naptha, borax, and washing soda is safe for cloth diapers? Or does anyone have another recipe that would work? Thanks!

  18. Sewing
~I spent about 8 hours on this project for my sis-il's baby shower this Saturday. The body of the bag is an old sundress. The liner is part of a cotton sheet. The top of the changing pad is a recycled t-shirt. The mattress pad I bought new and a huge discount for projects such as these. So all...
