I made a batch of hummus for the first time today, it came out pretty good but it tastes like it still needs something. I used:
2 cans chickpeas
3 cloves garlic
2 or 3 tbsp. lemon juice (I didn't measure it, it was all I had on hand)
2 1/2 or so tbsp. tahini

PITAS STUFFED WITH HUMMUS AND TOMATO
1 19 oz. can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
3-4 t. tahini
4 t. water
2 t. lemon juice
1-2 small cloves garlic, minced
1/4 sea salt (optional)
2 t. minced parsley
6 whole wheat pitas
3 large scallions, thinly sliced
3 large ripe tomatoes
Well in an effort to eat healthier, I thought I would try something different......I kept seeing the recipe for hummus in all my diabetic cookbooks and have heard many vegetarians talk about how good it is (and it does look good)...so I got all the ingrediants to make it and whipped some up...
I'm so excited!!!! It turned out good this time!
I didn't even have to use the tahini, and I can't tell a difference! :)
It has a nice tang to it! I think I'll be having hummus sandwiches a lot this week ;)
Oh and all I did was I tossed into my blender:
