  1. New Member Introductions
I have thought about becoming involved in a forum like this. I am always interested in reading all the posts about lawn.

I mowed for the first time today. The event signifies the start of a time consuming job for the next six months. I really don't mind. I take pride in the appear of our yard. I think if you have flowers, vegetables, fruit trees and perennials they are the picture with the yard being the...

Will someone PLEASE explain to me why my retired neighbor feels the need to run her snowblower at 5:00 AM?? This is the same woman who uses her lawn mower & weed wacker at 5:00 AM. Seriously, it makes me angry. Our houses are pretty close together. Her house is on the street that runs...
  4. Secondhand Shopping
I ended up buying 1 lemon balm plant for $.25 1 book for $.25 Everything else I realized I could live without. I won't buy clothes at lawn sales ( just a quirk I have ). I have no fun saleing anymore because I can't get myself to buy stuff (even if its something I could really use )...

I save my change all winter and then use it to pay the person who mows my lawn in the summer. I've been thinking of taking my change this Spring and purchasing a rotary mower, ( meaning, no gas or elec. Just push it), and mow my own yard. My yard is small so wouldn't take long to mow. Also...

Well, we closed on our house Friday morning. We went back to the apartment and made this list of all these things we wanted to do and save up for and things we would need. Then my friend called and said her parents were getting a new lawn mower and would we like their old one. It worked...

  10. Drugstore & Grocery Store Deals/Product Reviews
My friend sent me this without even telling me about the coupons that pop up- she just liked growing her "virtual tree." Anyway, thought I'd pass it on. Sears coupons definitely come in handy w/Father's Day coming up! And the best part is, they don't expire until...

I've read that you shouldn't do that on food gardens unless you use a special, biodegradable detergent, but does it matter just for grass? I know definitely not if I'm using bleach in the cycle. I'm just thinking it might be a good way to save some water (wouldn't really have to water the lawn).

1 can of beer 2 cups of water 1 cup of epsom salts 1 cup of ammonia Get a bucket and mix these ingredients thoroughly.  Fill your lawn sprayer - the hose attachment type - and spray over your lawn.  This will perk up your lawn during spring.

I can't believe that the grass is long enough to mow already! It's usually mid April before we have to do it. I'm hoping that this year with not having a dog any longer that the backyard will come back in grass. I'd love to be able to till everything up back there and start again, but can't...

It was so neat. First ds#1 mowed part of the lawn and Michael watched. Then dd wanted to mow, so I let her do some and again Michael watched. Dh then said, Michael's turn. He held on to the lawn mower and pushed, with dh right beside him and all the while, he grinned from ear to ear...

I would love to have one, but it has been so hot here in Texas that I have been just watering my trees and flower beds and the poor lawn has been on it's own. It is so dead and yellow that it looks like hay. It is bad enough that it looks like that but our neighbors across the street had a...

and wondered how many others mow? Gabe always mows, but I thought I would mow for a change yesterday. I haven't mowed the grass in a long time. It made me wonder how often other women mowed the lawn.
