With the interest rate being practically zero on savings accounts and a threat of the current economy's demise, do you keep your EF in a bank or at home? I have decided to have cash on hand in case the worst happens. How about you?

Our mattress literally broke. So it quickly became a need. Need it today (or at least very soon) need. So I look around today and find the mattresses are very cheaply made or way to expensive. I wander into a local store and find out that their mattress are on sale. I hadn't known about the...

DH and I bought a mattress when we first got married 8 years ago. It was the cheapest king size mattress we could find and it's completely breaking down on the inside. (The outside is perfect however). I haven't shopped around for mattresses, well, ever. Where should I start. I want a good...

Not sure what category to put this under! We are getting a 'big boy bed' for our 2.5 year old, and we have found a good captain's bed frame off of craigslist but now we need a twin mattress, no box spring needed due to frame's 'box' construction. I do NOT do used mattresses! Just wondering if...

A little background.... back in March, we purchased 2 mattresses for the younger boys - 1 twin & 1 full size. Anyway, we have conducted business with this company over the years & were very happy with them. Notice that I said "WERE". Anyway, in March, the twin size mattress was $99 & very good...

What is going on with mattress manufacturing? Did they all decide to just make garbage anymore? What happened to the times a mattress would last for 10 years or so? Our last one made it 5 years and was in SAD shape (hurting Dh's back and my shoulder - I like to sleep on my side). So, we...

We just found out yesterday that DH will be getting a pretty nice Christmas bonus. My first thought was "Woo-Hoo! We can pay off the credit cards!" DH has a different idea. The first words out of his mouth were, "We are buying a new mattress!" I do agree that a new mattress would be...

They attract kitty piles: Kitty piles are difficult to remove. They don't budge no matter how much tossing and turning you do. Even turning on the vacuum cleaner doesn't remove them. The only effective remover is to turn off the heating pad

Gripey and I have been literally freezing when we get into our bed at night. We've been keeping the heat low and the sheets are just cooooollllddd when we climb in (and honestly I think being thin makes you more suseptible to the cold or it has us anyway). We decided to invest in a heated...

It's 6:24AM here and I'm just sitting in the dark in my living room catching up on the boards here. I always want to sleep in, but it just doesn't happen. Sun mornings right now are my only chance to do that, but I find that I can't sleep on this mattress anymore! It's a pillow top, and I used...

we had been through a few crib mattresses before I thought of doing this. instead of running out & spending $30 on a new crib mattress after the baby had found a weak seam and tore the plastic from the one he had, I went to $1 tree & bought a shower curtain liner. I cut the magnet out of the...

Has anyone tried this mattress? My husband and I are looking at it even though it costs a fortune. He has a lot of back pain and doesnt sleep well at all. I'd like feedback from anyone who has tried it - good and bad.

This is a pretty scarey one. I know it's just in the preliminary stages of research but it's good to know it's even a possible risk, especially for all of us frugal people that might consider using a secondhand mattress.
