I planted a peach tree last year and thought the critters were eating them; but this year I put netting on it and saw that the peaches were falling off the branches when still fairly small. Anyone have this issue? What's causing it and what can I do?

This is the third year in the garden, and the first year of fruit production. The plant was purchased in a pot from a garden supply. Fruit quantity and quality appear to be excellent to date.
Can i freeze the syrup that comes in a store bought can of peaches? I always dump it out before i eat the peaches. I thought it might be a tasty snack if i put it in individual 1/2 cup containers and froze it. Does it expand like water does when frozen? Should i put a lid on it or leave the lid...
