I have several containers that I grew potatoes in. I had a good harvest and all the potatoes have been eaten. I am not sure If I will be planting more potatoes this year or not. I have collards ready to transplant. I was wondering if I could use the same soil that is in the container to plant...

  3. Question and Answer
I was thinking most of the ways I reuse vinyl tablecloths are pretty much the same way I could reuse shower curtains. I mean the liners or plastic curtains not the fabric curtains. I'd like to rid myself of the liner and just go with a water resistant fabric curtain. How do you reuse shower...
  4. Kitchen Basics
We had balsamic roast chicken last night for dinner and I saved the carcass and all of the leftovers that were attached to it still. There wasn't enough meat on there to constitute having just the meat for a second meal. Instead, I figured I would use it in a soup/stew. I have never ever done...

Lately I've been using the kids' old bath water to water plants and flush the toilet. My husband just cracks up everytime he sees me doing this. Our summer water bill (due to pool water evaporation) is around $250 per month. I figure every bit helps. Have I gone too far????

I purchased potting soil from Walmart and I am using self watering planters to grow vegetables (tomatoes and okra) on my patio. At the end of the season can I pull out the tomatoes and okra and save and reuse my present potting soil for next summer? Or do I need to pitch it and purchase new...

My very frugal aunt and uncle taught me this trick. Empty (paper) 1/2 gallon containers work really well for freezing. Open it fully at the top, wash it out, refill, and fold the top in flat to seal. Works especially well for soups, stews, tomato sauce, etc. Any other ideas?

We started unpacking boxes that have been stored for over 10 years and there’s lots of clothes. The clothes have seen better days: between the packrats, damp, dust and grime, they can’t be worn anymore. They are stained and have some holes. What can I do with them. We’re talkin’ about a bunch...

One of DH's business shirts died in the wash this week. It's 100% cotton and is badly frayed and ripped under the collar. He won't wear it again. Just as he was going to the store this morning I said "the ladies at frugal village would know what to do with this shirt". He said "Just throw it...
