The department hubby works for is having a potluck style award ceremony on Monday. (As a complete aside to this conversation, hubby is Officer of the Year and will be given a plaque, have to give a speech, will have his picture displayed in the entry way of the pd, etc). We have been...

This is a very funny blog post. And sad. And I want to soothe poor trying-to-be financially-responsible Victor's soul. Okay he is married but we all would love him here. Be forewarned ... some adult language and I didn't even read all the comments because so many had really redunant chicken...
  4. Healthy Cooking
I'm going to smoke some pork and chicken over the holiday weekend and I'm looking for a new side dish recipe. Or dessert. Something that isn't the same old potato salad or cole slaw or pasta salad. Something healthy, and if it is a dessert then not too full of sugar. Any favorites to share?

early? I was thinking about doing this today so I don't have any actual prep work on the big day. What sides freeze well for you?

Since the packers will be here at about 8:30am tomorrow morning and I have little ones to get to school before then, this is my official cya thread. We have quite the trip ahead of us for the next few weeks. We'll be out of here on Saturday and then Sunday, we're doing viewings all day long...

So, it looks like the family is getting together this year for Thanksgiving. DH and I will be driving ~12 hours to get there. What's a good side dish that travels well? We will have a cooler and ice packs. I don't know what is available once we get there for storage and heating, but I assume...

So I had a roomate who was my best friend for many years. In our last living situation, all of the utilities were in my name due to the fact that she has bad credit. Signifigant Other and I bought a house last December and moved out of the house we shared with her on not great terms. We are no...

I got 4 stackable fabric boxes! Perfect for my utility room or my sewing room. They were on the side of the road, upon inquiring with the owner at the home they were in front of, they just didn't "work" for her-so she threw them to the curb. I am in constant amazement of waste!
  12. Secondhand Shopping
Little Miss was in need of Dresses and/or skirts as her closet was pretty much outgrown ( and handed down). Very bare in there. We generally have a hard time finding long flowing skirts ( that "twirl") that Little Miss prefers, at least ones that don't cost a bunch. So we had them to the keep...

Ugh, I feel like a truck or two has run over me! I started a new medication (long-term) and I swear I have every side effect listed. Nausea, headache, fuzziness, fatigue... you name it. How the heck do I deal with my 3 year old and 18 month old when I feel like this? I'm not sure I've ever been...

I bought some mixed sprouts at the regional farmer's market Saturday to supplement my steamed fish lunches. I'm sure I'l forget some, but I asked for a little of everything - bean, radish, onion, mustard, brocoli, cabbage, clover, fennel-something and I think two others. The radish and mustard...

Hi Everyone, This morning I finally did it. Backing out of my apartment carport I hit the passenger side mirror on the pole. Cracked the mirror, pulled the outer part away slightly. The mirror is electric and still works. I'm wondering if they can just put a new mirror in and then seal the...

All credit for these words goes to Jon Markman of MSN Money who put this far more eloquently than I possibly could. 20. Homesteading and gardening
Look at what I dug out of my side garden! I would have spent all weekend trying to get that thing out. I dug about three feet down and had DH pull it out for me. I dug about as much dirt as I could to get it to where it would turn around in all four cardinal directions and then he had to use...
