so I've just removed a couple of yrs worth of wax buildup on my kitchen tiles. they are ugly commerical type tiles- suppose to hide dirt, anyway now I need to seal them and after stripping (by using a scraper and elbow grease) I didn't have enough 'floor shine' so right now it's all clean but...
We live in a 120 year old house. Thought we had done it all but now we are making updates I want, not things that have to be done.
I am installing a slate hearth and I don't want to use grout. Just butt the slate up against each other. Can I do this without causing me grief later on? A pellet...
I thought this was so neat, not only because it should be pretty cheap to make, but simple to do and VERY useful. I'm going to Lowes this weekend to see if I can get the tile in 16x16, because that size seems like a better sized work area. These tiles go on sale for as little as $3 a sq. ft...

A friend of mine- Ms. Spendthrift, took the day out of work to meet with the floor washing men. :ponder:
"Floor washing men?" Whatever for?
She was paying these men $1200 to wash her grout and paint it white then seal it. :shake:
Thanks for the tip- my friend!

I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of the tile and tile laying crew. I can hardly believe it's gonna happen today. Seems like I've been waiting for and dreaming of this day for ages. We were very determined not to do anything to put us into debt as we started working on the house. It's taking a...
I know the trend in new homes is NOT to put wall to wall carpeting throughout. I love the idea of having a clean floor or an easy to clean floor and as I'm sooooo sick of this old carpet that I have I wanna hear more input on what your flooring is.
Do you have wood floors? Do you love/hate...
4 x 4 White tile
6 x 6 Wood block
Black permanent magic marker
Some rub on decals or your own handiwork
2 part epoxy glue

You can either cut out your 6 x 6 wood square or you can buy them already cut out...
My kitchen backsplash is sooo old. How old is it, you ask.
It's so old that the grout looks to be a brownish color, but I think it didn't start out that color.
I'm wondering instead of saving for new tile that I could maybe stain the grout to appear cleaner or re-grout.
I saw this site...
For Ceramic Tile:
Vinegar. Mix 1/4 cup white vinegar
(more if very dirty) into 1 gallon water. This solution
removes most dirt without scrubbing and doesn't leave a
film. Washing ceramic tiles with soap does not work very
well in hard water areas as it leaves an insoluble film.
