Another resurrection. I'm in a retro mood, possibly because I'm listening to The Beatles' "Within You Without You" right now.

Today, I:

• composted
• line-dried laundry instead of using electricity
• recycled dog food cans and some magazines/catalogues
• warmed the house with solar heating
• listened to a podcast about saving seeds

• heated water on the woodstove instead of the electric stove
• fed the hummingbirds
• heated the house with the woodstove instead of electric heat
• scattered bird/butterfly seed mix on the slope

• bought organic fruit
• combined my grocery shopping with a trip I already had to make to the dentist to conserve gasoline
• heated the house with wood vs. electricity

1. car-pooled home (can't do that very often, but it is great when I can)

I'm in on this one again. This is easier for me than the self-sufficiency challenge since I don't heat with wood or have chickens but I still try!

Today I ..

- didn't use any gasoline
- didn't buy anything thus avoiding material items that are not needed and not adding any unwanted clutter
- hung laundry to dry
- used rags instead of paper towels
- recycled
- read books from the library which in turn I do not have to buy and in a way is saving trees.

• put stuff into a thrift bag instead of tossing it
• didn't return books to the library, because doing so would have caused me to drive much further than necessary today (and there is a branch on my way to work, so I can return them on the way to/from work another day)

- turned old clothes and tablecloths into rags so I don't have to use paper towels
- changed some light bulbs ( in places were they are hardly used) to cfl's. Now the whole house is cfl's.
- took my handmade grocery bags with me today grocery shopping so no plastic bags needed

• washed laundry in cold water to save electricity
• fed the hummers and the wild birds (and a certain pair of acorn woodpeckers who insist on feeding at the hummer feeder)
• saved a redworm from certain death (was riding on a piece of firewood that was stove-bound) and set him up with friends and a condo in my vermicomposter.

Okay, left the house at 9a and it is now 9:45p and I am still at work, so the greenest thing I did was not use electricity at home! Composted and recycled, but that is about it for the day.

Doors and windows open every day now
Line drying clothes
All clothes (except towels) washed in cold water
Adding composted material to flowerbeds
As always - paper and cardboard to recycling bin at nearby school (when out for other errands)
As always -all other recyclables (glass, metal cans, plastic 1-7) are saved and taken to MILs and put in her city bin (when out for other errands)
Not driving my truck UNLESS absolutely necessary (using Harley instead)
Recently purchased Charlies Soap - hypoallergenic, odor free, biodegradable
Ordering more and more online with lower prices, free shipping, and I don't have to drive anywhere!
Contemplating growing a few veggies (containers)
