Ok, by the grace and teaching of Madhen, I'm going for the Baker's Dozen this week. But since I had a reprive and don't have to go to work until 1 today instead of 9, I'll do two today.

Saturday:
0. Finish cleaning the kitchen after the Big Cook - a leftover
1. Take pic of doilyghan and post it
2. Frog melonberry afghan, choose new pattern

Surely I should be able to manage as little as that!

Today's dozen:
  1. Make more medicated cookies for Dusty/Buddy
  2. De-clutter bedroom
  3. De-clutter bathroom
  4. Wash extra finch feeder
  5. Make extra hummer nectar
  6. Finish Herbie's enrichment box
  7. Take kitchen compost outside
  8. Work on deck project (take "before" picture)
  9. Plant cotton, turnip, and cucumber seeds
  10. Change paper on all bird cages
  11. Change batteries in scale
  12. Look on-line for digital gram scale

In my attempt to do more things for myself and the things that make me happy here is my list... These are usually things I do not make time for in my busy life. Time to add more fun and me into my tasks!

1. Watch two episodes of Gilmore Girls 2nd season. (discs go back monday!)
2. Read 50 pages of my book
3. Take a shower, wash face, floss teeth, use essential oils!
4. Cut finger nails - before I break one!
5. Look at videos of different crochet chains
6. Take one photo today (I haven't pulled out my camera forever!)
7. Look up upholstery classes (I'd really love to take some!)
8. Drink a glass of wine this evening (it's been a while and it sounds good!)
9. Dishes (because they need to be done)
10. Organize crafts for one hour (yes, if I can accomplish this, I will feel good. This is a pain in the butt!)
11. Spend 30 minutes with daughter doing "school" stuff.
12. Research christmas craft ideas and start planning for once!

And the leftover....

Finish my rice/heat pack! - Starting it in a few minutes!!

- tidy main floor DONE
- sweep main floor DONE
- tidy master bedroom DONE

This is what is what I want to get done...

'Surely I should be able to manage as little as that!" she said. Wrong. I was thinking I could finish frogging the melonberry afghan when I got home, completely forgetting I don't get off until 11 tonight. Apparently I need a To Do list that I can count on the fingers of one hand!

Saturday:
0. Finish cleaning the kitchen after the Big Cook - a leftover - Finished good enough
1. Take pic of doilyghan and post it - Done
2. Frog melonberry afghan, choose new pattern Half done

Ok, let me tell you a story. So...

I wanted to finish my set of rice heat packs I was making for myself. However, my craft room/guest room is such a mess still that I could not find the foot pedal for my sewing machine.

So, I started taking out every single thing I have for crafts out of the room and organizing it all in the living room. This is quite the chore! I do wood crafts, paper crafts, crochet, recycled crafts, photography stuff, scrapbooking, sewing, and so on. No craft is off limits in my world. Imagine how much stuff I am finding that I forgot I had and so on. Oh boy!

Needless to say, my crafts are almost organized. I have spent more than two hours doing this. I have found my sewing machine foot pedal. (Yay!) I can finish my rice heat packs when I'm done with this. : )

The guest part of the room.. will have to wait though. I have a closet to clean out. And holiday stuff to organize that is now all over the bed. Eeek!

Thankfully, My crafts are organized!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!

This is what I've accomplished today...
1) clean foyer bathroom DONE
2) clean ensuite bathroom DONE **I also cleaned the main upstairs bathroom!!! :dancing:
3) wash/dry laundry DONE
4) fold laundry DONE
6) Pluck eyebrows DONE
7) Vacuum off salt off front foyer mat and wash floor in that area DONE

This is what still needs to get done...
5) Put $6 for AWANA race cars in special spot in wallet
8) Print off cell phone bills for remainder of last year for income tax purposes
9) Match credit card receipts to bills for remainder of last year for income tax purposes

The house looks SO much better now that the three bathrooms are cleaned, the main floor is swept (from a couple days ago) and all the laundry is put away. There's three more loads that were washed and dried today waiting to be folded in the basement...but that's another story.

I can't wait to tackle more housecleaning this week. I actually can't believe I'm saying that. ;)

I also sold on kijiji three bathing suits and two water shoes that my girls have outgrown for $12. By the time we paid the girls this and last weeks allowance, we're left with $6.30. That'll go toward the next week to two weeks of their allowance. Thankfully, their allowance is coming out of things I'm selling.

Most of what I accomplished today involved spending piles and piles of money, but we should have almost everything for the kitchen now. We broke down and bought two fancy shmancy chrome Rev-A-Shelf double pull out units for our kitchen island. I was planning to build pull outs, so since I won't be buying the materials for that, they weren't as expensive as they seem and it won't take much time to install them as opposed to building some. I'll feel guilty till they're installed, then I'll love them so much I won't care what they cost! We may be really bad and add a couple more at some point, too.

1. We finally selected and purchased our kitchen backsplash tile. Yea!
2. Bought 400 pounds of deer food, so we're hoping that'll hold the little beggars till spring now.
3. Bought 150 pounds of sunflower seeds for birds and squirrels, so that should get us into summer.
4. Bought 75 pounds of nyjer seed, so that should hold the little peckers till fall.
5. Bought 200 pounds of cat litter, so we're stocked on that for a while.
6. Bought the replacement countertop for the one I miscut the first time around. Luckily, it was the least expensive piece.
7. Picked up odds and ends we've been needing for the kitchen project.
8. Managed to talk myself out of buying a new saw, but succumbed to the DeWalt belt sander (original price $199, marked down to $90.) I hope I have bought my last belt sander now. LOVE DeWalt tools!
9. Avoided eating out at Grandma's restaurant, saving $30.
10. Avoided Dollar Tree, saving at least $20.
11. Proved I live in Minnesota by buying a snow shovel and garden seeds on the same day in the same aisle of the same store.
12. Bought only healthy food at the two grocery stores we shopped at.

I hate shopping! Goodwill was fun though. I bought a mixed bag of stuff for $2 for what I thought were some lanyards. The bag turned out to have a NIB Quill brand ballpoint pen, which sells for $32. I love that! It's beautiful and feels good in my hand. Also in the bag, a cute, NIP notepad with a puppy on it. Also picked up an interesting cookbook that's supposed to have all the recipes for food mentioned in the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. Should be an interesting read.

Hopefully, our big shopping is done for a few months now. We hate it, but it had to be done, and it's a relief it's over.
