I can't even make lists this week. It's a vacation week for us and we're devoting it to taking care of a bunch of stuff that needs to be done around the homestead.
I'm slightly bummed because we were supposed to be arriving at Badlands National Park right about now to spend a week in the Black Hills, but opted to stay home and work on the house and gardens instead. Overall though, I know it's the right decision. We neglected everything last year so we could travel, so this year we're going to be diligent so we can goof off again next year.
But I'm not going to make any lists for this week, but might report what we've done.
So far this weekend, we have:
1. Put up thirteen feet of trellises in the new raised garden.
2. Built two eight foot long fence panels to keep deer out of the raised gardens. Two more to go, plus gate.
3. Cleaned out washtub gardens and added soil.
4. Cleaned out, loosened soil, and planted tabletop garden and installed new dividers.
5. Loosened soil in container and planted potatoes.
6. Loosened soil in pots and prepped for planting.
7. Dug huge hole for new apple tree.
8. Raked dog yard.
9. Cleaned up kitchen. How does that get out of control so fast?
10. Made brownies from HM mix.
11. Watered seedlings.
12. Made cookies from frozen dough.
13. Made limeade.
14. Read gardening book about how to grow fruit bushes and trees.
15. Picked up some great deals at garage sales.
16. Ran errands.
17. Raked the dead stuff off the lilies of the valley.
18. Moved chives pots to new steps.
19. Rounded up four more pots to plant stuff on the new steps.
20. Installed some of the dividers in the raised garden. More to go.
There's probably been some other stuff, too. It's been a busy weekend.
Tomorrow is another out of town shopping day. I hope we'll do less damage this time, but my husband is online right now looking at grills. LOL.
