There has been interest in starting a 2015 Change Jar Challenge. Anyone wanting to join in and post what they have added to their piggy jar jump in. Also if you wish to post what you might be saving that change for it might help to keep you accountable. You can start totally new or start with what you already have in it. :cents:

I'm in again. We are buying a house with the cash my dad left me when he passed. This house needs a lot of work but we are paying cash for it so no mortgage... YAY! I plan on putting every extra penny towards the repairs and upgrades it needs. We will have enough to redo the kitchen immediately after closing which is good because the previous owners gutted the kitchen.... so I guess the change jar will go to that as well.

I haven't kept up with my change jar at all this year so I am just going to start my 2015 jar with what i have now.

Silver = 20.85
Pennies = 1.78
Total = 22.63

I am in on this challenge. I raided my hubby's change and added it to what I already had. since it is in a piggy bank and I do not want to dump out to count, it will be a surprise as to what is in there, but I added over 1.50 to it. I usually add to savings acct when full. So it will go to our 8 months EF.

I am in. I recently emptied my jar for when we took a vacation last month, so I am starting now for 2015 with what I have collected in the last month.

I plan to deposit the money into the EF.

I'm in. While I'm going to save all of my physical coins, I don't actually use much cash, so I'm also going to save change from my checking account. So if I buy something that's $12.50 and use my debit card, I'll save the other $0.50 by transferring it into my savings account. I'll also transfer any change into my savings account when I get paid (like I'd transfer $0.12 into it if I got paid $100.12) so that my checking account always has two zeros after the decimal.

I'll use my savings this August to help offset the cost of textbooks then keep saving until the end of the year to help with books for the spring semester.

I counted everything today, including what I found in an old purse and around the house and I have $8.05 to start. Not too bad!

Aspiring to be frugal, that's a great idea about the checking account! I might have to do something similar! I'm not joining yet, need to get our debt numbers better before I can put our money to good use (aka savings!)

I am trying to decide what to use change jar for this year.....it will either go toward bedroom remodel/redecorate, debt reduction or trip to swim with dolphins. Regardless, I added 3.04 to the fund today

I'm in.....I have a jar that counts the money....I used it for 2014.....I ended up with over $90.....this was change I picked up off the street...a penny here, a penny there and me emptying my purse once in a while.....I gave the money to a friend at Christmas time to help with her Mom's funeral. So, I am starting at zero.....will check my purse later on and see if I have any change....will see if I can beat 2014 total.....

Counted the current change jar to baseline a starting point. Currently have 284.00 in wrapped coin and another 4.85 in the silver jar. I do not count pennies until the jar is completely full. I didnt realize there was that much in there from end of 2014 but I am glad to have a good start
