I'd like to start a challenge for the new year to try new recipes. I have a personal goal of trying 52 new recipes this year--one for each week. I think this is totally doable and will give me the opportunity to really put my cookbook collection to use as well as helping me plan some different meals...ones that aren't in constant rotation in my family's monthly routine.

In 2014 I've tried 41 new recipes, most of which I liked but which got varying responses from my family. We'll try to better that record this time around!

If you want to join me, just share the names (and recipes if you feel so inclined) of the new recipes you try and what you and/or your family thought of them!

I'll be sitting down tomorrow to plan out the meals for the last few days of December and the first week of January. I am planning on making at least two new recipes in that time--one a dessert I pinned on Pinterest, and the other will be a pasta bake I came across in a magazine. I'm also going to be breaking out some of my seldom-used cookbooks to mark a few recipes that are "must-try" recipes for me in the coming months.

This is a great challenge to help me go through those recipes I've saved from magazines and never get around to trying out.

Way to go, Imagine! You're rocking this challenge! I'm still culling through my HUGE stash of "to make someday" recipes to decide what needs to be made ASAP. I think I may end up exceeding my original goal, which is a good thing!

Could an FV Administrator make this thread sticky for us? Thank you!

Something I want to do. I have already made a decision a while back that I need to find new meals. I have accumulated quite the recipe "stack" through Pinterest as well through other sites and my cookbook/binder. I have already started trying new things and so far, so good.

I felt a cold coming on a bit of a sore throat.

So I thought I would give this recipe a try as I had some grated ginger in the fridge.

Hot Ginger Lemon Honey Drink *

Soothing Lemon Ginger Drink for Colds and Congestion - Keeper of the Home

It did sooth my throat, not sure it did better than regular hot tea with Lemon and honey but it did taste good. I do Love Ginger though.

* I made a single serving of the stuff so I am not sure of the measurements I used. I also used bottled lemon juice.

I have been hosting a weekly needlecrafts group at my house and usually tr out new appetizer recipes on them. I'll try to remember to post the recipes here. I am nursing an injured hand at the moment, so it will be a few weeks before I get adventurous in the kitchen again. :)

I've got 5 new recipes on my meal plan so far for the first 17 days of the month. Among these are:
~ Sage Seasoned Pork Chops
~ Pot Pie
~ A new sloppy joe recipe
~ Lo Mein
~ Cashew Chicken

I'll let you know how these go and if they were keepers for my family. Unfortunately, my family seems to be set in their culinary ways so it takes a LOT to get them to give a thumbs-up to a new recipe.

I would like to try at least 2 a month/24 year. I do get annoyed with myself, pinning and cutting all of these recipes and never trying them. Most of the ones I do try are good so I don't know what I'm waiting for!

Here are the New Years Eve Recipies we tried

1) Parmesan Tomatoes - Baked Parmesan Tomatoes - Jo Cooks

We used Roma Tomatoes cut in half and did not use salt or pepper. The Parmesan cheese we used was the fresh grated kind not the powdered kind. The kid did not like them but Hubby and I did. Hubby said they tasted like crust less pizza. They were the adult replacement for our traditional New Years Eve Pizza rolls. The children had Pizza rolls.

2) Jalapeno Quinnoa Poppers - Jalapeno Popper Quinoa Bites #WeekdaySupper #ChooseDreams - Alida's Kitchen

we liked these. They did not look as pretty as the picture. Hubby and I plan on tweaking this recipe a bit

3) Jalapeno Poppers _ it was an impromptu made up recipe we made up. We used leftover ingredients. We cut the jalapenos in half length wise. scoped out the seeds and pulp. filled it with a mix on cream cheese, Parmesans cheese, and fine Shredded Fiesta mix cheeses. Topped with with Parmesan cheese and baked them 10 mins in a 350 oven. They were very spicy ( pepper hot) but Yummy.
