Contrary Housewife— I always chop and freeze peppers, as well as, extra celery and onions when they are on sale. It’s great when the holiday cooking comes around.

We got the freeze this morning. My sewing room will be finished by the weekend minus the curtains or whatever I decide to do with the windows.
My neighbor and I are going to a planners zone at the convention center. It is really for event planners, but anyone can go free. They give a ton of food away along with prizes. Then headed to the casino to get yet another free gift to add to my Christmas pile. Home before it gets dark.

GB, have fun, hope you get lots of free stuff.

M, yes, the red and yellow peppers do have a milder, sweeter taste. The green ones can be quite grassy at times, especially when fresh. I guess I will chop and freeze them today, since DH is not going in to work to give any away. We only had 1" of snow, and roads are clear, but he'll use any excuse to work from home.

It was 25 this morning, the trees are covered in snow, we're lucky no branches came down. The redbud is on the ground, I looked at it last week, it is being held up by a few branches but it is down and going to get cut up soon. Word is it will warm up to near normal 40-50 tomorrow. We'll see.

Got brussels sprouts and leftover rice for dinner will cook some chicken or something to go with it.

Why change the clock, when you can change a whole season!

CH - yikes, snow! Gosh it seems to early for that but we are also supposed to get a little tonight. I never can remember getting snow in October.

Martha - I like the Halloween picture! Spooky cat eyes!!

Was up last night again with coughing, so I'm tired today. Had to return a winter hat I bought at Meijer before work. It was itchy so I decided to keep my old Dollar Store hat. DH called me on the way home from work and told me he was bringing home dinner tonight. Yipee, that will save me cooking and cleaning up. We never have trick or treaters here so a quiet night. It has been raining all day and will continue into the night (with high winds) when it's supposed to turn to snow. Not a nice night for Halloween. I'm hoping there is some kind of scary movie on tonight to watch.

Crazy weather Thursday - around 75 degrees at bedtime and raining, a little lightning. This morning 41 degrees and still windy, but the rain stopped. Off work today. Some set-up for dog club event on Saturday later this afternoon. It is out in a rural area, maybe I can stop at a farm stand or two.

Got a lot of freebies and brought home baggies filled with desserts for DH. Got a white porcelain serving dish with copper handles from casino. Didn’t do much else last night. Took DH out for dinner. Got to go to the post office this afternoon and then to theatre to check on money they owe me. Going to local high school tonight to see a play that a friend of mine is directing.

Cold and windy this morning but sunny and supposed to warm into the low 50's. Snow is all melted except in a few lingering shadows.

No big plans today. We are in a holding pattern, waiting to leave on our trip. Don't need groceries or anything this week. May start stacking a few things to go in the suitcase. Need to go around and water all the plants really well.

Leftover pot roast and vegetables for dinner. That's the last of the food items that need to be eaten up.

I got all the fabric put away plus some other stuff, and the thread rack installed after adding a rim on the backs of the shelves. Hated drilling holes in my machine's table top, but no choice.

I realize now the clip light I want to use instead of the LED strip should work for my new serger as well. A twofer! So that saves, too. I'm putting an LED bulb in it to save some energy. It seems like a good compromise.

I forgot I have to plug all this new stuff in, too. :ugh: I'm going to attach the surge suppressor to a steel bar on my indy machine's table to get it up off the floor, but don't feel like doing it anymore today. It involves a lot of crawling on the floor and my back hurts. I should be able to finish that tomorrow.

I got 6 shields topstitched. Not much, but a start. 46 to go, in the first run anyway.

My work table is cleared enough now I can cut out the new scrap catcher. That should be a fun project.

Things are finally shaping up and it only took a week.

It warmed up so I went out to enjoy the sun. Went by JA to look for a small stitch kit I could take on my travels. Like previous years, they had nothing. Not a single christmas kit. It's really ironic that they have these "hand made holiday" signs all over the store and there's nothing you can actually make at home, it's all plastic crap from China.

Pulled and bagged travel snacks from the kitchen. No $8-10 airplane snacks for us. Plenty of cookies, pretzels, larabars, nuts, etc already in the house. I did buy fresh bags of beef jerky, though. Special travel treat. If all goes well it won't end up as dinner one night at the airport while we watch it snow/rain. Threw a paperback in my bag, Kindle is charging.

Going to relax for a bit and do some sewing while the sun is still bright.

SNOW?!?! It's way too early for that.

We harvested a deer this weekend on our property. Walked out the back door and shot it. Total cost was a $0.50 bullet. Spent yesterday and today processing the meat. Tomorrow I'll can 4 quarts of meat and then it's done. While we were doing all of that we got on the topic of how people we know spend $1,000s to lease property to hunt on, clothes, deer stand, special detergent for their clothes.....and all we did was walk out the back door, either we are very fortunate or they are just plain crazy.

Our chickens finally started laying eggs!!! We hadn't been doing a good job of looking in the coop for eggs and tonight we found 2 eggs laying in the chicken yard so we looked in the coop, we found a total of 15 with 13 good ones. Hopefully we will no longer be buying eggs and in the spring we can start selling them.

Yesterday hubby picked up a gig making gumbo for the local ma/pa country store. He'll make $60 off every pot. With it being cold I'm hoping he'll be able to sell them 2 pots a week. It will be good to have some extra money coming in. I'm thinking about asking them if they would buy Zucchini or banana nut muffins at $0.50/muffin. SNOW?!?! It's way too early for that.

This past week was employee appreciation week at work. The employees all received a free wind breaker jacket, breakfast. 2 lunches and a free lunch last week too.

Turned in CC points for cash.

Used p the last of the elbow noodles today and tomorrow I'm going to try making my own. I bought a noodle extruder for my kitchen aide almost a year ago on sale and have not used it yet.

Going to make seafood chowder to take to a friend that broke her leg and enough for dinner along with a chess pie for DH. Finally got my check from the theatre. Got to make a stop at the bank along with going to grocery store. DH and I are going to the mall tonight to see a play. The theatre that I work for has opened a black box theatre in a mall space. Going to Victoria’s Secret and bat and body works for my monthly freebies.

Have a cold, ugh. Colored my hair this morning and noticed I got two big splotches of hair dye on the bathroom rug. Sprayed hairspray on it, threw it in the washer and good as new. Changed the bed and did a load of whites. Vacuumed furniture, house and picked up. Slept part of the day, only way I can stop coughing. It seems to me that cold medication years ago worked far better than they do now, I remember taking cold meds and feeling almost normal until they wore off, not anymore. Sure am glad I dragged myself outside yesterday to run the lawn tractor over the leaves to mulch them and raked all the ones out of the standing water in the back. No energy to tackle that now. DH said he would make dinner tonight and will probably watch one of the movies we bought from the library sale last summer.

SD- What a lovely room. Reminds me of a friend's sewing room as it's set up similarly.
Contrary- Yes, peppers can be cleaned and frozen. I have whole ones in my freezer.

It's cold here and snow is on the ground. When the wind blows, it goes right through me.

Our tenant had to leave and we are searching for another. Cleaning the unit wasn't bad at all. She left items behind and DH found a ceramic squirrel full of pennies. Also, a lovely English dishware set with scalloped edges and such.

I've been Christmas shopping again.... Got a electric back massager, socks, crew hair gels, digimon transforming figure, $30 gift card...All for $37 since I used gift cards and rewards points to get them.

All-day dog club event Saturday (herding trials). I was assisting the judge, took my dog along and he was a perfect angel after about an hour. He figured out the routine. We had 2 chairs but had to keep moving around a lot to different fields. It was a long day and tiring.

So today he needs a bath! Followed by a lot of laundry. I'm also gathering more stuff around the house for charity pickup on Tuesday. Baked chicken and leftover potato salad (from dog event) for supper. Also brought home several half-bags of chips and individual mayo packets that will be good to take to work.

Flights are delayed an hour, so I am having a second cup of tea, and I cooked off the last of the bacon that probably wouldn't be good in a week+. Taking a few minutes to water plants again and play with kitties.

Rujerro, glad your rental unit wasn't a mess to clean up. I cut up the peppers and got 3 bags for using in chili this winter. Drying the spicy chilis to grind into powder later. Gave away the last cucumber.

Probably should write some checks real quick so bills get paid.

dlrcpa - I have seen herding trials before, so exciting and fun! Does your dog compete?

CH - have a good trip!

Dh went grocery shopping for me this morning, he only had to call me 5 times. :) While he was at the store, I washed all the dog blankets and made 2 ingredient pumpkin muffins. Pretty much slept and read all day. Feeling a little better, so I'm hoping tomorrow I won't be coughing as much. Dh helped me make vegetable soup for dinner so we will get a lot of leftovers from that. Dogs and cats aren't getting the time change, they all think it's time to eat when they have to wait another hour. Foster dog is starting to move around the house now, so happy that she's slowly making progress. Head Dog Eye Dog breed Carnivore

CH- Wishing you a safe and fun trip!
Rabbit- What a cute pup! What's her name?

I have a turkey in the oven. I have no idea how much it weighs as DH took the tags off. I'm not good at making these things as the liquid usually dries up! I didn't have any broth so I put in some bouillon and water.

I've had several people want to see the rental, some cancelled, one filled out an application but has never seen the place....So, I'm reaching out to him to look at the place to see if he likes it, before I accept his application.
