Good morning, everyone! I'm about to toss some chicken in the crockpot and then get some laundry started. I'm planning on listing one thing for sale today and getting all of the laundry ready, as we all head back to school tomorrow. Hoping to read and rest and kick the end of this bronchitis to the curb, because I need to be healthy to get back to my middle schoolers tomorrow! I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Had a fun evening with friends, watched some bad movies (on purpose), ate junk food and laughed a lot. No problems getting home, very little traffic. Slept late this morning. I keep thinking it is a weekend. Going to have leftovers for lunch and see what DH is in the mood for at dinner, lots in the freezer to choose from. We have various things to do around the house and it will be a quiet day. Going to go over the ads for next week's grocery shopping.

I did stay up to watch the ball drop and then another hour for it to hit midnight here.....
Slept late and now doing nothing....going to grandson's later to open gifts and they are taking us out for Mexican food.
My goal for 2020 is to stay alive another year.....
Working on getting rid of more "stuff."

So the hike.....nice and I am glad we went with a group because it could have been quite confusing without a guide. This was actually done by a "friends of (park name)" group rather than the actual park rangers, but they obviously knew the park quite well. Hubby thinks about 150 people. A few other dogs. Part of the grounds are quite pretty but a lot was steep and rocky wooded terrain (they gave us the option at several points to take an easier route.) Hubby managed all and took pictures which will be helpful. They had free water and dog treats also. I'm making a list of parks and hikes to do with the dog in 2020. Everyone have a restful night!

I listed some old BeyBlades toys of DS8 for $10 and they sold in under 5 minutes. He has plenty more, but there were 7 that he was willing to part with, along with a stadium. Money in, clutter out!

Happy New Years! feels like a saturday. was up late which is the first time in ages. cat wouldn't come in and ds was late so 1am bedtime. so we feel like we partied and we didn't lol was lazy just some basic chores and dh wanted chinese food for dinner. spent a few hours fixing my laptop email and now a leak he had to fix tonight. just been watching taped shows , dh and sil did parents ashes yesterday too. they went for lunch. laptop is dying keyboard jumping typing a pain to type.

ds got invited to stay w friend for couple of days so ferry ride so we decided to go for the day tomorrow. not cheap but want to see museum exhibit that closes at end of month. packed a couple of hats for them as gifts. need to build stash again. better that leak happened now since gone tomorrow dd was shown the water shut off just in cause. her and a friend hanging out. could have come but teens better at home having fun.

was sunny for the first time in ages and cats complained for hours in and out. think they would be happy instead of pouring rain. made frozen tortellini for dinner w alfredo sauce. watching the end of christmas in connecticut. dishwasher on and ds putting away laundry and dealing with his room because we have to be up early.

Amy- glad you sold stuff. I have to list more too.

My car was in the shop but they couldn't find anything wrong. IMO, I think it was the battery. I had DH replace it and the garage said nothing was wrong. Before the battery got replaced, it gave me trouble.

I thawed boneless beef ribs for bbq sandwiches..They're in the crockpot and will be shredded in 8 hours...

My niece was in ER on New year's as her tongue got impaled by her braces. She's ok now. Reminds me of New Year Day 2019 when DS1 was in the ER but got turned away as our insurance wasn't ready. So he had to go to another one. He ended up being at the ER about 6 times in 2019. But nobody went to ER yet this year so it was a better start this 2020...

Absolutely nothing pressing here today. Think I’m going to do a little sewing with all the scraps I have.DIL came by last night and took me to the casino to get me out of the house. I guess there’s a first time for everything.

Quiet and sunny here, may warm up to 50. Feels like the weekend just ended, and what day is today? Glad to be getting back to a normal routine. Got to get a gift package ready to mail, pay some bills, etc.

BIL gave us a scare yesterday, texted and said he was in the hospital with chest pain. They sent him home 6 hours later said nothing was wrong. He was mad they didn't tell him he was having a heart attack. He doesn't take care of himself, won't exercise or eat right, wants everyone to think he is dying.

Taking this weekend off to spend with friends out of town. Nothing big, maybe some antiques browsing (don't have room or desire for more junk) or local history museum stuff. Weather should be dry. May hit a quilt shop and see what is different there. Definitely stopping at the pecan co-op for a fresh supply. Love our tiny little native pecans, so much flavor compared to those big tasteless ones.

Made a grocery shopping list last night, but won't need to go until Monday at least. Baked salmon with spinach salad tonight.

Hoping to get a lot of sewing done today.

Gave notice at work today! 11 more work days to go. Obviously in frugal/thrift mode but basically have been so for years. Stopped at the library to switch books. I have been working on the cross-stitch almost every night but need to start the book. The guy writing the series puts a cliff-hanger at the end of each book, so need to find out what happened, then can postpone reading for a few days/Saturday. I need to mail that box of silverware.

Back to school today, and I think I should have stayed home. The bronchitis and sinus infection that I've been suffering with over the break is still in full effect. I taught a piano lesson after school, then came home and read. Over the weekend, I've decided I'm going to go through DS8's dresser and closet and sell some of his clothes. Being the youngest of four, he has more clothes than he can ever wear and I can cull the collection and make some money in the meantime.

We had a very low-key NYE. We ate in - Tacos were on the menu, watched TV, my sons and DH had a Nerf battle, I worked on a project, we broke open a bottle of sparkling apple juice and toasted around 11:00 then it was a bath, a book, and bed. I would rather have this than a party any day of the week!

We're still in the eating-at-home from the weekly menu mode, thankfully, so supper should be easy.

I did some scrounging around in our basement and came up with a brand-new 3-ring binder and some old binder dividers I can repurpose for my 2020 home organization and recipe challenge projects. Glad to not have to purchase anything. I think later this evening I'll be working on cleaning off my kitchen counters - putting away all the stuff that's accumulated over the holidays. I also may start organizing my spice cabinet--figuring out what spices I have and what I need to re-stock. That will hopefully help save me some time when trying to find things when I'm cooking/baking.

dlrcpa- Congrats! I hope to be able to do that someday.
Amy- I always ask the family if they want to get rid of clothing but 2 of them don't really buy much and wear stuff until it is unrepairable. The third is a shopaholic and has way more than anyone. He doesn't like to weed out, however.

Not sure about dinner...Thinking about chicken salsa over rice. I usually make it with beef and believe it's a cowboy recipe.

Gotta run errands today. Pay a CC and do something with DS2's holiday checks. I'll put away some wrapping paper but am not sure about setting up the kitchen-aid. Honestly, I don't have room on the counter! There is one spot that I usually put the crockpot and will see how big this thing is. If it's too big and can't share with the slow cooker, it will stay in its box.
