Peg I agree w/ your husband - if people don't thank you for anything then stop wasting time and money.
Rain today after several sunny & warm days. I should take care of paperwork and budgets. Power was out for a while last night, I wonder what that was about. Reminder to always be prepared. Maybe make pizza for supper, have some toppings on hand. I tried some online exercise videos Friday, should try one or two more today. Need to find one with music I like. I have seen several "1000 steps in 10 minutes" on youtube for example.

Got a little frosty last night but sun is out and it is warming up. Going to have a few days like that this week, chance of frost overnight with 60* days. Will get into the yard this afternoon and do some more work. The front yard is greening up, going to need mowing soon.

Saw that there were a lot of severe storms across the south last night. Hope no one was seriously hurt.

BW, that's shameful those people didn't thank you. Agree that you should put your efforts where it is appreciated.

Need to poke DH into doing laundry, maybe run a load myself. Got to make a list of errands for the coming week. L/O chicken pot pie for dinner.

Happy Palm Sunday to those of you who observe it.

Beautiful, Sunny Sunday. Made our first trip back to the airport. It was a sad one. Will miss ds way too much. He was such a big help this week. We had a mound of dirt in the back from digging the pool last summer and he flattened it out. Dug holes for the fence posts. All by hand! We were going to rent a small skid loader/bobcat and an auger, but he did it all with a shovel. He's the best. His dogs are a little sad. They'll be fine in a few days. It was good to see him. His friend was nice. Very friendly and easy to talk to. Didn't have to tiptoe around her or make any changes for her.

Sil is visiting as well. She leaves tomorrow. Of course there's more family drama. It's unbelievable.

One good thing about this week, I didn't have to cook. We went to eat at a Chinese place downtown that dh and ds love. They would go there all the time when they worked together. Whenever ds came to visit we'd eat there 2-3 times. Well, sadly, this was the last time. They are closing down. Not enough business, landlord is being a pain and they said it was just time. So glad we got to go one last time. It was actually a little sad. So many memories there. Then last night we ate out for Sil's birthday. I told ds' friend, that I really do know how to cook. Today, I'm going to do my shrimp boil in the instant pot. Will have to do it in two batches to have enough. Dh's brother will probably come eat too.

Dgd has been gone all weekend. She really liked ds' friend. She may get to spend the night tonight. I've decided to work on her eating habits. She doesn't like meat, so ds' friend had some high protein yogurt and oatmeal. Dgd will like that. She needs better snacks too.

Have a good day everyone. I'll see you in a few days.

rainy day here. Did get a short walk in before the rain started. Went to vacuum, decided to change the bag. This upright Royal was left here by the previous tenant, now I know why. No info anywhere on the net on how to do it, had to figure it out myself. Paper bag inside cloth bag, previous one had come loose and cloth bag was full of crap. New one didn't want to stay on so I taped it. Bags are probably old.

Last week sunday a friend and I picked wisteria blooms and made jelly. We picked enough for 15 gallons! lol We had no idea as we had never made the jelly before. We were having a great time visiting and didn't realize how many blossoms we had picked. The jelly tastes just like the flowers smell - delicious on ice cream.

Friday morning I weeded in the garden with a friend for 3 hours. The peas are up and are about 2" tall.

I stopped at the salvage grocery store on my way to pick up my granddaughter. I spent $140. 80/20 burger was $2.20/pound - bought 2-10# chubs, Bought a box of 24 turnip green bundles for $3 - it's for the rabbits, 7 heads of cabbage at $0.29/# (canned 14 quarts today, 1/2 of what I bought), 7# sausage $1.59 ea, 3 cartons of name brand juice $1.79 each, 24 boxes of shells n cheese $1.50 each, 4# lard at $0.79/#. 7 16-ounce containers of sour cream at $0.79 each, 3 jugs of salsa for $2 each, that's all I can remember.

Saturday my granddaughter helped me mix and can 24 pints of mexican meatloaf. Hamburger, egg, sour cream, salsa, rice, and taco seasoning. I used instant rice as I had a couple of bags that lost their seal. It tastes good but is missing something so I add Tajin when I eat it. My granddaughter likes mixing the messy stuff with her hands so she begged me to make something else so we made 10 pounds of meatballs.

I finally received my signed divorce papers. I called my home/auto insurance to have him and a truck removed from the policy and the price went UP $350 a year. I called a few places and changed insurance companies - better coverage plus a savings of $200/year.

My 6 week old goat had bloat. I tried to give him baking soda water but I couldn't get him to take it. I bough a syringe without a needle and forced him to take mineral oil with ginger in it, that didn't work. I resorted to giving him enemas and that finally worked. I missed 3 days of work doctoring and massaging his left side. Now he's a people friendly goat. I can walk up to him and pick him up without him trying to get away or fussing at me. For those of you that don't know, bloat is serious and can kill an animal in 24 hours.

LL I love reading your posts....I have learned so much from you.....did not know about bloat....we had a goat for while back when kids were small....the goat hated me and my daughter....would always try to butt us....

Jetts glad you had a great weekend with your son and friend. It's great that you felt at ease with her.....sorry about the family drama.....

Today was gloomy....we dropped off daughter's gift and went for a ride to see bluebonnets but didn't see too many...but, it was a nice ride....lots of roads I've never been on before.....stopped every hour so I could walk around....grabbed a fruit cup for my lunch and we were back on the road....

Having something from freezer for dinner....don't know what but it will be quick and easy.

Husband and I discussed why these people didn't say anything about box....he thought maybe they didn't want what I sent BUT she ASKED for queen size sheets.....so that is what I sent....and clothes for the little one...who would turn down clothes when kids grow so fast??? They are always sick so I'm sure the cold meds I sent will be useful....I just don't understand it but I will not be doing it again.....I think maybe that is why I enjoy doing the shoeboxes.....I may never know the kids that receive them but I know that things will be appreciated because they have nothing....they get excited about a toothbrush!!! So, my efforts will be going into that.....
I am excited I won some Pioneer Women dishes, placemats, and chair cushions.....will pick up on Tuesday....NOT that I need dishes....I think they are Christmas pattern.....
Hope the new week brings everyone peace and safety.....

Peg-I agree with everyone that they probably didn't want the box...They sound fickle. I sent my sister a lovely Christmas wreath and I had no idea that company was coming over and she bought all new decorations and such...She didn't open my box for days...I finally said to donate it or give it away as I figured she didn't want to tell me she didn't want it. She finally said that she gave it to the cleaning lady. It will be the last time i do something like that. Years ago, she asked for a comforter set and exercise eqpt...I sent them to her. She sold them on ebay.

LL- I don't know much about goat medical issues but horses can get twisted intestines and it's deadly as well. I don't know how it happens...

Weather was nice today but more snow coming... Work has been busy. DH smoked a pork butt so we had that for dinner. Also had leftover chicken and rice.
I noticed that DS2 only has one set of cotton sheets (on his bed) and the rest are flannels....I'll have to buy sheets for him. We have one or two fitted as the rest had to be thrown out. I use flat sheets as fitted ones. I may get a new set for our bed.

Chilly this morning. Nothing really on the agenda today. Ended up going to the farmers market in Dallas. Picked up fresh spinach, Swiss chard, gold beets and a bottle of wine. Going to hit the casino this afternoon to pick up a crockpot they are giving away. Will put it with my stash to give to single moms that our church helps with housing.

GB crock pots definitely useful, I wonder if young people know how to use them though.
Emptied a box of hubby's stuff, donated the books and recycled old magazines. I have to sneak them out, he would not be happy. But sure box was not opened in 10 years so..... :sneaky:
Very windy overnight following downpour around 5:30 pm. Going to bag leaves if they are not too wet. Still cannot move indoor plants outside, too cold. Clean up the foyer and wash the rug because so much dirt gets tracked in when it's rainy. 2 dirty towels from wiping down the dog last week. Leftovers for supper. Have a good day.

Very windy here, too. I may try something in the yard, I don't know if I'll be able to do anything with the gusts we're having. Do need to take DH for a walk today.

Younger people today are into instant pots (like a crockpot but it can pressure cook as well) and air fryers (which can roast and bake also) because they both cook much faster than a crock pot. They're done in 30 mins, versus 4-6 hours. Hopefully some of them still appreciate what a crock pot can do.

Got the usual around here. Shower needs one more pass with a scrub brush. Kitchen floor needs cleaned, too. DH spills food like a toddler, plus the cats.... Got a donation box to put in the car, along with grocery sacks to be recycled tomorrow.

Brats and slaw for dinner.

Hope everyone's week starts off well.

didn't know you can make jelly from those! what you learn .neat. glad you didn't have a $$ vet bill for your goat but then you lost work days. cousin was staying she was watching bondi vet shows.. I like vet shows just too much else to watch and think spent too much money and time in vet offices. congrats sounds like a fun win Bookworm!

think sometimes people who take and don't appreciate creeps on you and takes others to see or if you only hear from them if they want something. some people only want new clothes for kids. We used to pass along clothes esp w images on it like thomas the train etc for the next ones but last time my friend said no her grandkids could only wear new..I was really ..so she bought stuff 80% off lol but then they divorced and second hand was good enough. he was stressed about shopping and I said let your mom do it ..an excuse for thrift stores..I know I could say to my mom kids need x y or z and she loved it cus gave her a reason to go. the hunt!

Wow Rujerro selling on ebay after asking? that is a lot of nerve. I will give away stuff but normally will tell people that don't worry got it for free so don't feel like you have keep it or you can refuse it. but don't sell gifts.

sunny today after wind/rain storm yesterday. lost power for a few hours but had heated up chili in the slow cooker so dinner was hot. power on before dark..rare for us to lose power. woke up at 6am and dh was my alarm didn't go off. .cats were waiting of course lol they know the routine. i went back to bed. thought I would have reset sleep schedule yesterday cus less sleep but was up until 1am again. and ds was too even later though school today. didn't do much but some housework and catch up on tv shows. up to date for when calls the heart now. dh and I watched downloaded movie on laptop during power outage. he was out doing errands creamo/library and return lightbulbs when it happened. he got the 2 forsythia too.

work today though have to look in car to see if bar code reader is there cus not in the bag. if I lost it well guess buying another. not sure what is dinner something from freezer ready to heat up. put 3 containers of chili in there for later. need to get a ham for easter too. rest is in the freezer for easter dinner. will stop by other library on way to work. books are due.

Good morning. Guy coming to grind stumps today, I hope the yard does not get messed up too much. Sunny today but then 2 days of rain coming. :( Daffodils are blooming where the wood used to be stacked, poor things smothered for many years. Makes me want to plant more. Figure it out after the stumps are gone. Closest store has spiral ham for $.97/lb so need to shop soon. Have a good day.

Another windy day. Yesterday was sunny and warm, but the wind was strong. Took Sil to the cemetary. Sil got some decorations to put on her mom's grave. Dgd went with us. She saw all the headstones and commented on how many people had died and that it was so sad. She doesn't quite understand that there are some that died almost 200 years ago. She'll get it one day. Dgd wanted to go see where my grandparents were buried, but I couldn't remember where they were buried. Next time.

Dh, his brother and sister wanted to go visit their dad. Two of the other sisters have power of attorney and they think they have to be there. So the one sister came down and waited all day. They didn't go visit their dad. They were so mad that she thought she had to be there. Then the sister brought sil's stuff she had left from the last visit over and left it on the porch. It only hurt their dad. So much drama. We all thought it was quite funny, that the sister would come and sit there all day waiting for them to come.

Got the house back to normal. We now have two room finished. Now it's time to work on the fence. We got the posts last night and dh will stop on the way home to get the concrete to set them. Maybe tomorrow we'll get the cross boards and gate kits. We decided to put the wide gate on the other side of the house because the pool is on the one side and we couldn't get the truck back there. We could get the truck pretty far into the back on the other side. We want to get as much of the fence done before ds leaves for deployment. We'll have to send him pictures. It was too rainy and wet while he was here, but he still dug all the holes by hand.

We didn't go out to eat for ds' birthday. His wife freaked out about it. So we stayed home and cooked steaks here. She never came over while ds one here. She says ds doesn't take covid seriously enough. He made some smart remark sometime last spring and that's how it is with her. It doesn't matter that he's had the vaccine. It's what he said a year ago that sticks with her. They went to her parents' house this weekend. They all jumped on her about it. They are ready to start travelling and living their lives again. They told her she needed to start letting go of her fears and start living again.

Sil has lost a lot of weight and looks really good. Dh and I both said it's time to start eating better and exercising. I think we can do it. Just need to eat better. Summer is coming and it's a lot easier to eat lighter and more vegetable type dinners. Not sure what we'll have tonight. There are still some leftovers in the fridge. Maybe a salad would be good. That's what I've been craving. Maybe we'll do some taco salads for taco Tuesday!

That is a good spring goal Jett. sad for the dad cus that is nuts. why can't people visit on their own ..sometimes you don't want to see others there lol unless something things another is going to run off with the family jewels. great one cat whining at the door..well he can stay out just whined to go out 5mins ago and it is nice out. just a truck went down the road. too stiff from work yesterday to jump up and down. one store lots of cranky people who were mad that you are there yet they are the ones going down the wrong way not following arrows. think work paid an hour for me to wait on getting around people. lots of I want to be out but you should empty store for me or mall etc that I have been running into last couple of weeks ..the ones who can get the vaccine too. 2 more work days as 4 day easter weekend ahead.

new restrictions no indoor dining group exercise for adults. one ski hill party town closed ..of course after spring break ..well kinda closing the barn door after the animal escape. because they already went and bought it back to their communities or brought it there. for 3 weeks ..doesn't effect me except no ihop breakfasts for now. at least my mom will get her first shot thursday which will calm my sister down. my sister works at a place w manager who doesn't care so this is where govt rules help. lord better get second coffee get rid of the grumpies.

ds woke me up early cus he didn't want to go to school. full day today..said go cus you can come home. gave him an allergy pill and a pepto. We had A&W last night and he ate who knows what on top of it but not balanced so no wonder. teen boys. and he spotted the cat puke..on the only small rug in the house lol so he cleaned that up. sucking up lol cus he is like me puke! only if no choice...cleanup. mom doesn't want to go to grocery store so will send dd later to help w her housework. going to certain store cus need ham on sale, bread, yogurt, bananas etc. all fresh stuff. will be at least $100. tv remote acting up already changed batteries.

since my cherry blossoms weren't quite out still have them after the wind which is nice. last couple nice days and then rain. my order didn't upload so did that. more work later.

Busy day, lots of errands to run. Stuff to pick up, and had a voucher for lunch at the sushi place. Restaurants open, but I'd rather eat in the car. Found a nice place with a view of a pond and some ducks. Was taking pictures when a guy came by and said I should check out the area up the street. Said there was a great blue heron and an eagle. So I went over there and watched for about half an hour and saw the pair of eagles fly over head! They really are majestic birds. Unfortunately, can't see them once they get in their nest. Waited another half hour but didn't get a chance to take pictures.

Went to PT, and did more errands after. Cat has not been able to do her business for 2 days now. Was vomiting, and won't eat anything. I got hairball gel to put on her paws. Will call the vet tomorrow if she has not done her thing by then. Had a B&BW coupon, got some shower gel for DH. And then it was 5pm so drive-thru fried chicken and donuts seemed like a good idea for dinner. Must be a southern thing. Got to add some salads to my menu plan, too.

Lots of people out and about today. Lots of traffic and the construction doesn't help. Looking forward to a nice quiet day tomorrow-- as long as the cat is ok.

Finally got a rear wiper for the van that fits! (from Amazon). Sent back first one, got a refund. Second one was refills only, will give to my mechanic. I don't want to get a reputation for too many returns on Amazon. They can shut you off.

Went and did some cemetery photography for Find A Grave website. I really get into the genealogy, linking up families. Added some info to the Family Search website too. Not much on my own family, all 4 grandparents were born in Europe. Came across a stone with my landlord's last name, went down the rabbit hole, he can trace his ancestry back to the Mayflower! I'll have to see if he knows that. If I had ancestors like that I would really be into genealogy.

Still no stimulus check (second or third). I'm just happy the SS checks got straightened out. Paid some bills online.

Josantoro that is cool. CH hope the cat is better.
Stump grinding complete, lots of sawdust and dust. Going to let the rain wet it all down before trying to rake out and clean up. Finally bathed the dog yesterday and washed load of towels afterward. Power failed again yesterday 5:40-6:40 pm as supper was in the oven. Hubby finished it on the grill and I made vegs on the gas cooktop. Grocery shop and paperwork today. Try another exercise video or floor exercises with weights. Grilled chicken for supper and the potatoes I was going to microwave last night. Have a good day.

Cool but sunny today. Should be a good day to get something done. Cat's problem "passed" in the night and she is back to herself, eating and drinking again. We are all feeling relieved.

Dlr, sawdust makes good compost, if you can get it raked up and moved somewhere. Hate it when power goes out during dinner. At least you were able to rescue dinner.

Got lots of leftovers from this week already, so I may not cook tonight. Will see how it goes later.

Hope folks are having a good week.
