It is 22F this morning, 2/22/22. Cloudy and breezy, might get rain or snow later.

BBQ sounds delicious, GB. Hope you get rain and not ice.

Zhoen, hope you had a great day in the yard. Or under the covers. :) Going to have a quiet day here myself.

Did a light grocery shop yesterday, $82. That was for produce and dairy, yogurt and cheese on sale, canned veg on sale, antacids, oatmeal, a chocolate bar and a bag of keto snack chips. The big ticket items were 2 jars of soup base, but I had $5 off with store points so one was "free". I got a nice marked down steak, and a crushed box (unopened bag) of cereal off the clearance rack. That store was out of several sale items, which is the reason I spent so little this week. I think we can get by another week without more paper towels, and I'm still looking for frozen baby onions.

Mac&cheese with ham for dinner. Veg or salad on the side. Have a couple of large packages of ground beef in the freezer, thinking of cooking it off one day soon and making batches of sloppy joe filling, empanadas, lumpia, etc. When I have more energy.

Yesterday was such a nice day almost 70. Today it is cold and there is snow flying around. Starting to stick on the deck. I'm so tired of these up and down temps. Trash didn't get picked up last week. That's the 2nd time this month. And they are talking more snow on Thursday. My bin is full and our yard waste bin is filling up now. I'm not sure how two people have so much trash. We do have dogs and cats and when you clean up after them, that generates a bit of trash. You can't get through to them on the phone. Filled out a missed trash order. I think I'll fill one out again. Even the crappiest trash company picked up last week.

Thought about trying to license ds' car. Luckily the wait isn't as long as it was last year. Still takes a lot of time. I'll go to one of the locations where you can get in line through the app and not have to sit there for hours. I just hope there isn't a problem. The title has been reassigned a few times. Hopefully it's okay. I'm waiting for the renewal on dh's car. He already did the inspection. Hopefully we can do it online. It's worth the extra $2 to not go to the DMV.

Dh is supposed to work late tonight. Not sure what I'll eat today. Need to make sure dh has something for lunch tomorrow.

Jetts, our city trash is doing things differently this year. Nobody wants to work so there aren't enough drivers. They put trash truck drivers on snowplow duty if there's a storm. So last week there was no trash pickup because of snow, but supposedly this week we can put out an extra bag. This week there's also a 1 day delay due to Monday being a holiday. If it snows again this week and they have to have plows out it's going to delay things even more.

I'm glad they are making the streets and highways safer but like you I don't know how long we can keep trash in the driveway before it becomes a problem.

Good luck with the cars. I hate the DMV, too. They are so slow and they just don't care if you have to wait half a day in line or if you have paperwork problems.

Jetts & CH- Maybe there is a driver shortage for the trash pick-up? I hope it gets picked up soon.
Martha- I see all of the turmoil going on in Canada and hope it's not near you...

I cooked a whole chicken and made chicken noodle soup and today is a casserole. I put the carcass in the crockpot to make stock todayl.
The temps have been 0 F outside and waiting for the bus has been a chilly one.DS2 refuses any gloves/scarf/wool sweaters that I offer him. Meanwhile, I wear long johns, pants, 2 hoodies, coat, scarf, headband and gloves.
I've been able to find some good deals at the market- bags of oranges/grapefruit for 99 cents, marked down cereal for $2.29 and store brand cereal for $1.65. Milk has gone up 40%.

We don't have city trash here. We choose which company we go with. We'll be changing at the end of the quarter. Talked to my mom and they've been with the same company forever and from what I see on Facebook, everyone loves them. They are actually cheaper. We really don't need yard waste every week, so we'll just buy the stickers and get bags for when we do need it. We don't have any trees, just leaves from all the neighbors and dh usually mows over them. Our bill should be about 1/2 of what it is now. They have no hidden fees. The monthly is a little higher, but they said the fees are included in the price. We get charged a fuel recovery fee which is over $10/month, and admin fee of $6. I've heard they charge you $30/container when you cancel and they never come pick them up. Dh said he'd drop them off himself. Tomorrow is trash day, so we'll see.

Made it to the DMV, but forgot payment. Went home to get it and the cat got out. She would not come back in. I kept adding time to my place in line, but gave up and didn't go. Drove around the block and when I got back, the cat was in the yard and when I opened the door, she ran in. It was cold. There were hawks flying around really low, so I decided not to get back out. Now I can't get in line in the app today. It says closed, not sure if they are open. I really dislike the DMV. There are other offices nearby, maybe I'll try one of them. I do need to run to the store for a few things. I guess dgds are spending the night. Daddy is off this week and he wants some time to himself to catch up on things at home. This morning, oldest dgd kept texting. Dh called and asked me to please respond to the texts. He was busy. Dgd called and talked for over 30 minutes. Daddy was asleep and mommy was gone. I asked her if daddy was okay. She said he was snoring. I felt bad for the girls this morning. They were dying to come over. Not til Papa gets home. Grandma has things to do today.

I may pick up some chicken nuggets while I'm out for dinner. May fix a salad for dh. We'll have some fries or mac & cheese too.

Ruj, I haven't bought a whole chicken in a long time, except rotisserie ones. It used to be a good deal, now it's nearly as expensive as buying white breast portions. Nice find on the fruit.

It was 5F this morning but has warmed up to 10. I'd like to get out to Aldi later today and pick up a few things, and only a few things. Taking sandwiches to a friend's house this weekend, have ham, but need buns and more cheese. Snow expected tomorrow, so I hope it's not too crowded.

Recycling truck came by this morning. Trash still on the curb here. Jetts, sounds like changing services would be a better choice for you.

Dlr, hot pizza sounds good. I like pineapple, too. Going to get out some leftover turkey breast and make sandwiches for dinner. I have some frozen sourdough in there, too. Trying to use up the leftovers and odds-and-ends in the freezer. Have a pound of raw almonds, and a pound of walnuts to do something (*not dessert) with. I've been putting them in salads, but can only eat so much of that. Found a couple potential recipes last night.

CH I make spinach & walnut pesto (cheaper than basil and pine nuts). You could then freeze the pesto. Nice weather here but going to turn cold again I think. Too bad. On the lookout for spring flowers blooming.
Did Silver Sneakers this morning and some online training this afternoon. Did some laundry and scanning some papers prior to shredding them in between sessions. Hubby making chicken with oven roasted potatoes for supper.

Yesterday it was in the 70's and now today the wind is blowing and it's in the low 40's. Cold front coming in....
Had to take car for oil change....of course they wanted to do $500 more to it.....I don't even mess with them....they start talking and I'm dialing my husband....They always seems to find something don't they....my husband keeps our cars all running great....he is always on top of things.....

Stopped at Target to get my Kivata and ended up getting yogurt, bananas, and $60 later......who knows what else......I did break down and get a bee and a grasshopper for my table setting....they were $3 each....I don't need but they were so cute....they had a dragonfly also and wished I could afford four to use on my napkin rings....I probably could have gotten the dragonflies and not the bee and grasshopper but they only had one of each of those and the bee was just too cute....

Sounds like everyone is having cold weather....

We are having problems with our trash being picked up too but it's because of not having enough drivers...people just don't want to work.

Found a bag of old slides that I haven't seen in 60 years....husband put them on the computer for me...what fun looking at them....there are some from I think, a graduation party that I have no idea who they guys are but it was fun looking at them.

Stay warm and stay healthy....

Schools let out early today because of the ice and will be out tomorrow. I almost slipped and fell getting wood. I did drop a huge log on my finger and it is black. On top of that, DH slipped on the ice and fractured his wrist. Workmans comp will take care of it He will wear a brace for 4-6 weeks. Going to be interesting.

Woke up to snow this morning. Not much, but still snow. Let's see if the trash truck comes around today. Dh put a sign on the yard waste can, let's see if they dump both.

Dgds spent the night. They are too much sometimes. Oldest is starting to get an attitude and whines about everything. She was up really early this morning. I told her she used to be so happy in the morning. Of course we were out of the cereal she wanted. Kept asking for chocolate cereal. I told her we didn't have any and gave her the choices and she still insisted on chocolate cereal. She finally settled on the marshmallow one. I better go get some chocolate cereal.

Didn't make it to the DMV yesterday. Their online app wasn't working in the morning. Didn't have time in the afternoon. Now it's snowing and I don't want to drive in this and I left my car outside, so it's covered. Maybe tomorrow. Of course I'm getting down to the last minute of getting it done without paying a late fee.

Not sure what we'll eat tonight. Something warm. Hope I'm not getting sick. It's been so cold and I was out chasing the cat a few days ago. Wouldn't be surprised. Better go take my vitamins.

Snowing here, probably won't accumulate more than an inch, just make the roads a mess. Arthritis flared up, so unless my daily pills get it under control I won't be doing much. Was thinking of baking, may wait until tomorrow.

It's taco Thursday. Have an avocado that wasn't ready last week, hope it is softer today. Will make some spanish rice for a side.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

CH the cold isn't good for your arthritis....hope you feel better.....somedays it hurts to just move and I just want to sit but of course with the blood clot situation I can't do that.....and it's not good for the RA either....you got to keep moving...

It was in the 30's last night but it's up to 43 now. suppose to stay this way for weekend I think. We have to run to pick up some tshirt I got for my shoeboxes but other then that nothing to do.

Target had avocados yesterday for 33 cents....they were large and got two that were ripe....husband doesn't like them so they are for me to make avocado toast. I'm tired of yogurt and toast and cheese....not a cereal person. Will have egg on toast often but that gets boring too....sometimes I'll have oatmeal...first world problem....
Don't know what I'll fix for dinner....I do have tortilla soup in freezer I could pull out....might do that....I have tortilla I can make into chips....
Stay safe...stay healthy...stay warm...have a great day....

GB- Sorry to hear about your finger and DH. I hope you both heal quickly.
Artic temps until Sunday. DS2 hates waiting for the bus in those temps as do I.
DH smoked brisket and put bbq sauce on it. He'll heat it up on the smoker after it marinates.
I visited a new dentist yesterday and since it was a emergency, I bypassed alot of tests. They ended up taking a few xrays but filled a tooth. I'm scheduled for a 2 hr cleaning and a infrared? gumline technique that's new, to get rid of plaque and bacteria. They also want to do a flouride treatment, xrays... I would have to foot the bill for flouride, infrared and some xrays. Probably $100 or so. Hmmmmm

Cold and still snow on the ground. Trash was picked up this morning. Both containers. Dh called yesterday after work and they told him they were running 6 hours behind. 8-9pm. I don't think so. They came pretty early today. Still going to dump them.

I'll go to the DMV this afternoon. Then stop at Aldi for cereal. I'll see if they have any flowers. Dgd was asking if I had any roses. Just fake ones. Sometimes Aldi has roses. She also asked for chow mein from Panda Express for dinner today. I think I'll wait on that in case they get it for lunch.

Cat isn't eating. Not even dry food. I hope she's okay and didn't get into something while she was roaming the neighborhood a few days ago. I may stop off and see if I can find her regular food. I haven't been able to find the "texture" she's used to, just the flavor. If she's that finicky, I don't know what we're going to do with her. I got the other stuff because I couldn't find what she usually eats.

Not sure what we'll have for dinner. Yesterday, I made a pot of hamburger/veg soup. Dh loved it. My V8 juice was expired so left it out. I just felt like something warm and it hit the spot. He took the leftovers for lunch today.
