I saw something about the east coast getting a storm? Buffalo got a lot, Nashville too. Something about a bomb cyclone getting New England. Is anyone here experiencing this? I hope the power stays on and everyone gets through this.

We had stuffed cabbage and I made french bread. I am thawing beef fora meat sauce.
I was told that we will str-ke and not sure of the day yet. We've never been through this, so it will be a first. The good news is that, coincidentally, DH had an interview, so we will cross our fingers on both of these situations.
DS2 has been using DH's aftershave so he wants to go to the mall and smell different types and then use his Amazon GC's to buy one. I don't even know prices of that stuff.

Ruj sorry to hear about the strike, hope your DH gets a job offer.
Another 3" of snow overnight. Hubby cleared the driveway. At least 2 of the neighbors were out helping, he should not be stuck doing it all. Sun should come out and hopefully melt a lot. Then we'll be back to mud and slush. 😝
Also COVID hospitalizations are way up in my area. Naturally following everyone visiting over the holidays. Just depressing news everywhere.
I cooked raw chicken and put it back in the fridge. Plan is make chicken salad later. There are still lots of leftovers so no real cooking planned. I finished the cross-stitch kit for the lady in the dog club. I dry-ironed the outside edges a bit but dare not use steam since the fiber is wool-acrylic. I don't know if she plans to frame it or what she'll do, her problem. Still have yarn to make hats and a bunch of audio- or e-books. I hope everyone is well.

Ruj, there was a big storm in the midwest on NY day which went east and hit most of the coastal states a couple days later, but not much going on today. Our weather is supposed to be clear for the next week.

Various school districts and county boards are reinstating mask mandates, but the horses are long gone from the barn. Cases are higher than ever, test kits sold out due to a last minute rush at New Years, and nobody wants to stay home due to fear fatigue.

Today is sunny, and 15F, so it's slightly warmer than yesterday. I don't have to go out. Stocked up on basic foods yesterday, mostly vegetables. Going to be some old fashioned cooking going on here. Tonight it's leftover corned beef on sandwich buns, with leftover fries from yesterday. We have lots of snacks and candy left from the holidays.

Take care everyone, happy Friday.

WOW....lots of snow and cold weather....we are in the 40's....so warm compared to others...

Lazy Friday....have to pick up grandson from school....

Middle grandson has new apartment but can't move in till next week. Can't wait I have a ton of things for him and they are sitting in living room...seems like I get rid of things and then more take its place.
Ruj hope the strike doesn't happen. Good luck to husband...hope he gets job....

Found a second hand book store not far from house but I'm afraid to go now with our numbers sky high.. We are close to being back in the red zone....I'm praying we don't have to go in for an emergency.....no beds and short staffed....last year when I was in hospital I remember one night nurse came in and introduced herself and mentioned she was the only one on duty that night! Very scary..
Nothing planned for weekend....hope everyone has a great weekend....stay safe...stay healthy....

Sunny and cold again. Supposed to be warmer tomorrow. Dh and I are cleaning the kitchen. We moved some lesser used things and put the air fryer and instant pot in the cupboard. Now the counters are clear again. I threw away a lot of old plastic bowls. They have to be almost 30 years old. Never use them.

going to dinner tonight. Ds leaves tomorrow. Not sure if it’s home or an assignment. So we may have a dog for a little longer Depending on the situation.

I’m excited to get things cleaned up around here. Lots of trash, donations and give always. I’m always more motivated when dh is here helping me.

hope you all have a great weekend.

Ruj: good luck! I hope things go well!!

Snow here. didn't make it to work yesterday. Too much snow in idaho.
I ordered a chimney brush that goes on a drill to HOPEFULLY make cleaning the stove pipe easier. using my christmas money for that. Having trouble getting the chimney to draft properly and my hope it this will help.

I did enjoy my day at home. I had a work zoom meeting but still no sun to couldn't use up my entire phone charge on a 2 hour meeting that was clearly going no where (saw the notes today...yep, half the board members couldn't make it so nothing done).

Today I made it in to the office fine and am madly charging my small tech! (the phone and a back up phone battery) incase we have more days of no sun.

Made it to the laundromat after dropping in the highway to let a road crew cut a berm and drain water off the road. Hit a 'puddle' last night that could have flooded my engine out. Other option was slamming on brakes and even at 35mph that would have made me a good ornament on the log truck that was tailgating me.

I had hoped to skip town trips this weekend but I am about out of clean pants and with no an for weeks, I need enough weekend drive time to keep the phone charged up. Might get sun tomorrow to get the solar batteries back up. This is the first time I have been without solar so that's not a bad average and may be partly the aging batteries and some super cold temps along with lack of decent amounts of sun

No sun here but temp slowly creeping up. Above freezing now. Quiet day at home planned. Going to chat with friends via computer (they all had COVID last week). If it warms up enough we may go for a walk. Cold air has been bothering my throat and I may not want to risk it.

Jetts, glad you were able to get things cleared up. Bet it feels nice to have the space back.

DH packed up the tree yesterday, and I took all the holiday cards down. Lights need to be disconnected, eventually. It's pretty dreary today, will be nice to have them up a little while longer.

Tuna, rice, and veggie bowls for dinner. Tomorrow night is our monthly potluck dinner and I'm thinking of making the pumpkin gingerbread muffins I wanted to do for christmas.

It’s raining here, but a bit warmer. Hoping that the rain stops. My grandson has a soccer game tonight. DH and I splurged and went out to eat last night for our anniversary that was on the 6 th. Eating leftovers today. Been working a cross stitch piece that my kids gave me for Christmas. Got the fireplace cleaned out and refilled for more cold weather coming in later tonight. Doing laundry and that’s it for today.

Cloudy and drizzling rain. I wish it would be a good hard rain and wash all the salt and gunk from the roads. Neighbor came over, needed a ride to the bank. Needed money to pay someone. Had to send dgd home so we had room in the car to take her. Told neighbor it was an inconvenience. Then to top it off. They wouldn't give her cash. She was trying to deposit and check and get cash back, but they wouldn't do it. Don't really know the details, but turned out, her husband ended up transferring the money to the guy. Do that next time and don't bother me. Dgd will come back over soon. She was spending the weekend with us until ds leaves. She loves her uncle.

Ds stopped and got us some taco bell for lunch. We have plenty of leftovers in the fridge for dinner tonight. We'll be watching football later this afternoon and I'll be doing some laundry.

Good morning. Saw part of a rainbow this morning while walking the dogs, reaching the ground in the vicinity of the nearby shopping center. OK, not taking that as a sign to go shopping today. I have some paid work for the attorney to get started on. Rainy and cloudy today so I don't mind being at the computer. Hubby bought a pork roast but he may not want to grill if it's raining. He was also talking about making a scalloped potato casserole he likes. We'll see. Have a good day.

Cold and sunny. DH and I are going to try and get the place picked up a bit more before the new week begins. Group dinner tonight is canceled, luckily there is meatloaf and potatoes left over. I may make a gingerbread loaf today, too. Also want to get in some hobby time while the day is bright.

Sunny today. Not much going on here. Put a load of laundry in. Ds left this morning for a month. He’ll be back to get his truck and the junk he’s hauling for a friend. He may take both dogs back this time. One for sure.

Oldest ds will come soon. They can eat whatever they find. I still have some taco soup to use up.

Should be a quiet week. Dgds and mom are going to visit nana. Hopefully we get some stuff done while they are gone.

I've joined a decluttering page on fb and they have inspired me to start.....I did the linen closet today...no linens in it just a lot of stuff....have a bag to donate and threw away some old stuff....mostly just needed organizing....

Decided I needed a bookcase in guest room so going to give nightstand to grandson and put small dresser by bed and put bookcase where dresser use to be....oldest grandson has a bookcase in garage he said I could have....

middle grandson will be moving into his apartment next week Monday and I will be happy to get the three huge totes overflowing out of my living room, plus three boxes....picked him up a new set of dishes and a toaster tonite...he's pretty much set in the kitchen and bedroom....now got to find him some living room furniture....nothing fancy....just clean.....

It's been yucky here all day....had a really bad storm last night....from 11-1 phone kept going off tornadoes and flooding warning.....husband went and got gas so he went thru drive thru and picked up Coney's for dinner....

Hope everyone has a great week....stay safe...stay healthy....

GB- Happy Belated Anniversary!

My MIL was slurring her words and went to a hospital but it was full so, they drove to another one. She was placed in a bed in the hall. She is bedridden with MS and after a few days, it was a UTI and a scan showed dementia. FIL also shows dementia. DH was worried about all of it as he is 1500 miles away but they have nurses and a cousin coming daily to help with basic things like bathroom/dressing/meds when they are home. Not sure how long this can continue since my parent was independent at 83 and mentally sharp. DH thinks he has power of medical attny but no papers can be found. I discussed this with them and DH 7 years ago but all of them poo-poo me...

I put beef stew in the crock. Will add barley later on.

DS2 is wanting to get out of the house. I looked at activities in the area like a Chinese cultural dance event, comedy show, botanical garden.. Maybe we can go to go-karts or indoor gaming place during the week.

The lemon tree has buds. Not sure if it will produce since it's young but I hope so.
The walnut tree sprigs have multiplied. At first, there was one but now there are several. I have no idea if they will be separate trees or what but they are close together.

Ruj - tough situation. Could check w/ their regular doctor since the docs often request copies of documents like that for their own files if they exist. I also read black walnut trees will send up shoots from any roots left in the ground so maybe that is what is happening?
Rained all day Sunday so most of the snow is gone. Should be cold and sunny the rest of the week. I guess that's an improvement. I got a sewing project started and have dog club zoom meetings tonight and tomorrow night. Leftovers for supper. Have a good week.

Another cold but sunny winter day. No plans this week. Looking at current grocery ad, but nothing I need to rush out for. Canned goods and store brands on sale but I am already stocked up. Supposed to be a little warmer this week, above freezing at least.

Ruj, sorry to hear about MIL. Hope the paperwork gets taken care of.

BW, good for you getting the clutter cleaned out! It's an endless battle.

GB, hope the dizziness doesn't last. Take care.

Chicken marsala over noodles, with a side of zucchini for dinner tonight. Made a loaf of gingerbread yesterday, it came out really well, so we have that to nibble on.
