CH sounds like my runs to Aldi's....Did the same thing only mine was only $71.....got a bunch of stuff to make the food for my grandson's graduation party today.....he graduated yesterday....739 graduates and we were in and out in two hours....they have it down pat....probably did another 3-4 schools same day....His other grandmother who lives right around the corner from them, didn't come because it was too far to walk, too many people, yadda yadda....I wasn't looking forward to being with all those people (probably ten thousand) but I would not have missed it for anything....I wore my mask (but had to take it off to talk to my son and dil as they rely on lip reading a lot since my fingers don't work real well with signing anymore and I have forgotten a lot of the words.......I think I was more upset then my grandson....you park in handicap, walk thru security, take the elevator, walk out and walk ten steps to the section, go down ten steps to your seat.....she walks better then me and could have done it.....I walked down the steps and it was A LOT of steps....I just hung on the railing and said excuse me to those hanging out on the steps and they all moved for me....I don't understand people.....

Got up this morning and made the charcuterie board, ham and cheese sliders, and dessert tray....made strawberry shortcake, banana pudding shots, and had chocolate cupcakes, apple bites, and cream puffs also....they had a ton of food.....only a few showed up as it's the holiday weekend.....

Sister was suppose to leave Wednesday but now it's Thursday cause her dil son tested positive and he lives downstairs from her....it's time....six weeks is a long time....I always thought I was a great hostess but now that I'm older I find I'm not.....

We have nothing planned for rest of weekend....traffic will be horrific to the beach so that is out....it's been in the 90's here....

Sister left at 5:30 this morning....I am sick and was in bed and slept all day yesterday so didn't get up to see her off...didn't want to get close with me being sick and she has eye surgery coming up in ten days. I must have picked up a bug at the graduation ceremony. She was huge help and got all my stuff organized so I can start packing....hopefully I feel better by next week so I can get the packing done....but have lab work, dentist and two dr. appointments this month...

Have a pork roast in refrig that I didn't get to cook yesterday so will do that tonight. Yard guy hasn't shown up yet...hopefully he gets here today....HOA is on the roll.....now they want everyone to pressure wash their driveway....time for me to take a ride thru subdivision and take some pictures....there are more important things needing done then pressure washing the driveways....there is nothing wrong with my driveway...if it needed washed it would have been done by my picky husband....

Hurricane season is here....got to stock up on water....otherwise we are set. If a big one comes we will leave as we are just too old to deal with it....

My new glasses are driving me nuts....they set too high up on my face and I hate them...hey cover my eye brows....I didn't realize when I tried them on or they weren't sitting where they should have been...but I don't like them......going go in later today and see if they can adjust something....they feel like they need to be shifted to the left a little....I hate getting new glasses....I am wearing my old ones....wish I could have had the lenses put in these frames but they said no....

Having hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls for dinner.....got to make up some banana muffins....I have three really black bananas sitting on my counter reminding me every time I walk by......

I packed a few shoeboxes over weekend and am working on six more....got to check all the sizes as some of the 5-9 got mixed up with the 2-4....I just pray as I pack that the children getting the boxes will be able to fit the sizes I put in...

I want to run to Aldi's....I saw they have bird baths.....I got two years ago but they have faded and the stand is leaning so they need to go.....seems we have a neighbor cat that loves our yard....he knows husband feeds the birds at night and he will come and sit on patio and look in door like "where's mine?" All white....very pretty....we are getting lots of birds...haven't seen the possums in quite a while....maybe they moved on or someone killed them...city folks freak out when they see them....
Have a doctor appt. Thursday. Dentist next week and following week primary.....I remember when I went to the doctors only when I was sick which wasn't often...maybe once every three or four years....dam, I'm making up for it now.....

Middle grandson is coming tomorrow....will make something special for dinner....

Went to an Italian place Friday night for my birthday dinner....it wasn't that great....tasted better the next day....

It's been extremely hot here....they expect it to be in the 100's today....thank goodness for a/c....yesterday we went to see sil and husband said the thermostat in car said 104....sil is looking better but his ribs have not healed....they are still broken...he has to be careful moving, reaching, coughing etc. I suggested he wrap them but who am I.....we had a nice visit....he has a football jersey or some shirt he wanted a shadow box for so I found one at an auction....it has a little red dress in it so he is going take it out and put in his shirt...will take a little work as it was done by a professional. If it doesn't work out I am only out $3.....I really wish I knew the story behind the dress.....why was it framed? But, I guess I will never know.
Z congrats on daughter graduating....what a relief....
Rujjero congrats on son getting a scholarship....what a big help
CH sounds like you have a lot of clean up to do....tornados are scary....they seem to be happening more often I think...they say our hurricane season is going to be heavy and some big ones....not looking forward to that...we will leave but then I worry about the grands.....
dlr glad Hoover is cooperating....my son's dog is scared of storms and he got him a thunder shirt but son said it didn't help. I am thinking a weighed blanket maybe???
Martha seems no one wears suits anymore except maybe a wedding or funeral....unless you are high class and go to balls and flashy dinners.....not us....don't think husband has a suit...last one we purchased was for our wedding 26 years ago and of course it doesn't fit anymore....nothing of mine fits from last year much less 26 years ago....lol

We have nothing planned for today...much too hot to do anything....may run to Ollie's as they sent me a 15% off coupon...I can always find something there.....CVS sent me $5 last week....haven't been to cvs since they sent me the last $5 few months ago so I ran in on Thursday when coming home from doctors and got a tube of toothpaste so I could also use it on my Fetch....paid $1.58 and cvs gave me ECB for a dollar so paid .58....then I got 2500 points from Fetch which put me over the 10,000 mark so I ordered a $10 Amazon gc....win win on that one....

Did 22 boxes this past week...so have 26 done. All 2-4 girls....I have 48 packages of 3 underwear left so I think I am only going do another 24 boxes that size and send the rest of underwear and clothing as filler to be used in boxes that need some help.....it's overwhelming at times.....my sister told me I was only to do pencil packs next year and I was not to do boxes...my husband told her that I WOULD be doing boxes as this is what I do, but he and I agreed that it wouldn't be as many as this year....she is upset with me....it's all about control.....

Have dentist appt. Tuesday. Just a quick filling I hope....you know how they always find something else to fix....have primary doctor appt next week....will see how that goes and I may be looking for a new doctor....which is very stressful for me...
Got to get moving here.....maybe set my table with my new bee plates I found at DT last week....just what I needed I know....

Another hot day here.....had to run youngest grandson to work.....he just graduated and got a job but hasn't gotten his license yet. His Dad said he's afraid to drive on freeways and that's what we have here....lots and lots of freeways...I didn't drive the freeways when I first moved here 40 years ago so I do understand.....and there are so many crazies....just heard about a 19 year old shot not far from his house....road rage....people are just going crazy....

Got to run to DT to pick up a couple of icing mix.....I have ten kids party packs ready to donate tomorrow to food pantry....

Oldest grandson came for dinner last night....I had a small box and decided to make him a charcuterie box....he loved it....then had pork roast, pierogies, roasted cauliflower and carrots, salad, naan, fruit salad and chocolate pudding....have enough for leftovers......he never had pierogies and he really liked them....told him where to find them in the freezer section...
Jetts hope your youngest gd has a good time with you.....they love that one on one time....

CH sorry you are having a bad week, month.....wish you lived near me....we had four desk top computers we gave away and still have one that hasn't found a home yet. My husband likes tinkering with them but we are finding it hard to give away. I don't know too much about computers but they would be great for gaming I'm sure, and I know one or two were going to be used for college.

It's going to be in the 100's this weekend....we were going to go to the country but it is even hotter there.....the camper we were going to stay in has a/c but doubt it would be able to keep up and it be too hot to sit outside so we decided to wait till it cools off.

We will probably have pizza tonight or Italian take out. Found a place where husband can get a huge plate of spaghetti and meatballs and I get a strombroli for $20 and it feeds us for two meals.

Doctor appt. went well yesterday. His son was there with him so I went easy on him about wanting my doctors to work together sharing blood work and tests results, etc. He was talking to me about my weight....he asked me if I was happy with my life....I looked at him and told him I wasn't in Ukraine where there was a war going on, wasn't in Afganistan where there is an earthquake, I'm not homeless and have a/c, I donate to the food pantry and don't have to ask for food, I am up and walking, have enough money to pay my bills and have outlived most of my friends....just celebrated my 75th birthday...have a husband who allows me to pack hundreds of shoeboxes for children in third world countries and never complains about the money I spent........why wouldn't I be happy???? Because I'm 20-30 lbs. overweight? Who cares????

I have 55 shoeboxes packed for girls 2-4. They are stacked in my guest bathtub. I have a tote full of extra clothing I put in baggies along with underwear and socks and will send as fillers for those boxes that come in that needs some extra stuff. I will start girls 5-9 next week. It's overwhelming sometimes.....my sister and her dil spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on clothes...they were all super cheap....2 dresses for a dollar from Walmart!!! Underwear package of 12 for a dollar....we don't have sales like that here....so grateful to them for helping me.....my sister in Florida works for Walgreens and she sent me a huge box of socks and school supplies yesterday. Why wouldn't I be happy with my life....LOL....

I had purchased about 500 folders for the shoeboxes but I have so much stuff I decided not to use so am donating to a teacher. Will drop off this weekend. I also purchased about 400 chains. I have about 500 little charms that I have been putting on elastic colored cords to make necklaces and thought the chains would work....nope....charms holes won't fit on chain. Will be looking for a home for some of these chains..... Sometimes I make more work for myself I think...

2022 is half over....can you believe it.....Not doing anything for 4th of July. If we don't get rain, there won't be any fireworks.

It's a little cooler today...90.....some parts of the city got rain but we didn't. We really need it.....They will be banning fireworks if we don't get rain....but there is a storm in the gulf....might be a hurricane.....and it begins....ugh....I have plenty of water and food but if we lose electric, I'm out of here.....

I have to run downtown to pick up an auction win. I didn't really need anything but the girl running this auction is young and trying to make a go of this and I got to know her quite well from another auction place so husband and I agreed we need to help her get it up and running.....will donate what I purchased. She is very sweet and calls me and talks to me about things going on in her life....calls me her grandma and best friend. Seems I get along with the younger girls better then I do with my middle age daughter. Go figure.....

Today is my oldest grandson's 30th birthday. He just started a new job and I'm hoping it works out for him. Hard to believe he is 30. I got some 30th birthday stuff to decorate with from an auction two years ago and offered it to his girlfriend but she didn't seem interested so guess I will find a home for it. She isn't much for doing anything "extra." I like her but she doesn't seem to have any drive except to go to school and study. She's a sweet girl but I think she just needs to be pushed a little. Her mother always gave the attention to her sister.

Middle grandson suppose to come for dinner tonite but haven't heard from him.....either way it's salmon, zucchini and a starch....cherry pie for dessert.....

Hope to start packing 5-9 shoeboxes this week....final count (so far) for girls 2-4 is 60....my living room looks like a tornado went thru it.....it's the only place I have to pack.....I know husband will be glad when I am done.....

It's a little cooler here.....got a little rain but storm is suppose to be coming in.....

Went to grandson's birthday party.....had a nice dinner....small group but no one to talk to....

I just had my review for help with my help with my expensive meds and have been turned down.....twice....I don't get it as she said I was only over by a couple hundred and she told me to check my out of pocket expenses....did that, and found close to $800 I had not filed... and I still got denied.....I am upset and I am going to call in the morning...

Won a few things at an auction....looked up the address and it's from a 5 million dollar house.....this should be interesting....asked husband if he thought they would be letting people in this house....I'm hoping....sometimes I'll look up the address before bidding but they didn't include until after the auction closed. Love seeing how "the affulent" live...

Nothing planned for the 4th of July....too many people at the beach...too many people on the roads.....

I try not to use the US postal service....they have lost more mail than what is acceptable....but husband still uses for his business so will tell him about the increase.....thanks for the heads up....
Very quiet 4th....I'm surprise there wasn't any fireworks in the neighborhood....glad there wasn't because it's so dry but you know people don't listen....they had fireworks on the island and it was done by drones...it's an hour and half drive without traffic so we did not go....too many people....and it only lasted 13 minutes.....saw a little bit on TV.....all the grandkids were working so we didn't even have a bbq....
Have 100 girl boxes done....I still have 12 more 5-9 to do and will start on 10-14....
Very hot here so I haven't been outside....
Have no idea what we will have or dinner other then zucchini....figure that's a good start.....
I've been reading a lot and have finished two books last week....going have to go to half price books as I have nothing to read after I finish the book I'm reading now....
Hope butter goes on sale as I am down to my last pound....told husband I am having a panic attack.....I usually keep a year's supply on hand. The sales haven't been all that great lately.

Gas is slowly going down here.....we paid $3.98.9 on Sunday.

Hot today. It's 95...which they say it will be all week long.....neighbor is going to Vegas and it's 111 out there.....I went five years ago and it was 116 all three days.....It was horrible....would like to go again just one more time maybe in the fall. Both times we have been there I haven't gotten to see everything I wanted to....and I do like to play the slots.....

Too darn hot to do much of anything....I have been in just packing shoeboxes....132 done....and wouldn't you know I found a tote of boys 2-4 clothing...I will send as fillers as I ran out of matchbox cars and toys for that age group. And, my neighbor next door told me our neighbor up the street has a little boy and he doesn't have many clothes so just packed up two huge bags for him. Can't have a child running around in raggy clothes.....

Been eating from freezer.....seems there is always that one package you just keep putting in the back cause you don't feel like cooking it.....have that in my freezer....going have to break down and do it before I have to throw it away....in fact, have a couple of those....I better get something out or it will be dinner time and we will have to resort to scrambled eggs.....

I wish we had a farm stand around here....I love fresh veggies. I used to live on a 50 acre farm back north and we had a huge garden. Love just walking out and picking what I wanted for dinner.....growing up my parents had a huge garden also....of course I didn't appreciate it when I was a kid....having to pick peas was a job I hated....didn't mind tomatoes or beans but those peas....ugh....probably cause I didn't like them....They do have a farmers market on Saturday mornings in some of the small towns around but we never seem to get there in time and of course our numbers are climbing again so we aren't doing anything with lots of people....still wearing our masks.....few weeks ago we were in a pizza place waiting for our pizza, no one around but we had our masks on, and some old guy comes in and comes up to me and tells me I don't have to wear a mask....I just looked at him and told him I know that but I have health problems and feel more comfortable wearing it.....I was shocked. I would never go up to someone and say that to them....people will shoot you for less.....

We have a maple tree in our backyard we planted about ten years ago and it is dying....don't know what happened to it.....I have lived here for 26 years and I've planted quite a few trees and they all died....finally got this one and another one to take and now one is dead....can't win.....we had one tree which husband planted and it died about ten years ago so we replaced with these two........about four years ago the tree we had in front yard died....hated that tree anyway.....it came with the house when husband purchased it in 1980 and it was ugly and grew crazy....we kept it trimmed and it still never grew correctly....so was happy to see that go but not happy about the one in back yard...

Another hot one.....we ran to pick up a couple of wins from auctions today.....nothing I needed, but got some cute dish towels for neighbor who loves plants....one says "plants are my soil mate" and "bloom where you are planted." She has a zillion plants....this is the one who's house burned and she is finally getting it fixed....won't be ready for at least six months they say.....

We will probably go out for dinner tonite....nothing fancy....probably sandwiches....we have three gift cards to various restaurants around but we know not to go one the weekends....told husband we need to start using them.....

Did run to grocery store yesterday. Haven't really walked around a grocery store in about three years...not counting Aldi's......I always enjoyed grocery shopping....some find it a pain but not me...love seeing the different fruit and veggies and the frozen aisle is my kind of place..... Prices are out of sight....I forgot to buy butter...it's on sale for $3 and I can buy 5 at that price so told husband we have to go before Wednesday so I can get 5..

I need to make scones.....they are my favorite....I usually use heavy cream in mine....never used buttermilk...bet they are good.....my problem is husband doesn't like them so it's up to me to eat them....don't want to waste food you know...lol

My goal this week is to get my 10-14 boxes done......I did 12 last week but have a ton of stuff so will do more.....still haven't touched the 5-9 or 10-14 boys yet......I do six at a time so it does go fast but then I am so picky about getting the right stuff that it takes me longer.........I'm getting tired now....but can't quit cause I want to get the guest room in order...had a friend come by for dinner the other night so had to throw all the totes in the guest room cause you couldn't move in living room....and a friend is suppose to stop by today and pick up a computer. If her kids are with her, don't want all that stuff sitting around, cause they are kids....into everything...

Jett sorry about your loss.....your family is not the only family that is broken. So sad that people can't get along. Hope there isn't too much drama... Your husband is smart to stay out of it.....

It's only low 90's today. It's been over a hundred all week....too hot to do anything. Will take youngest grandson to work later today.

Still packing....I'm getting totes emptied so I am making progress. Yesterday I got together some of the clothing I knew I wouldn't be using and packed it up to donate to the women's shelter or to the homeless. Have way too many stuffed animals and am going to see if the fire department wants some. Also have a ton of shoes....I haven't been using them in the boxes so will donate the larger size to the homeless...will probably take the kids shoes to a women's shelter.......Just about finished with the girls boxes....hope to start the boys next week....and hope to be done by the end of the month....will see....it's a full time job....very time consuming. Seems like I've said all this before....lol

Decided we will be driving back east in October. Not sure how I feel about it but don't want to mess with the airports and the people and the crazies....we will stop every hour so I can walk around and take our time....for some reason I'm not itching to go even tho it's been three years....

I had a coupon for a pork roast so picked up one the other day. Cut it in half and froze half....it was okay but wasn't crazy about it....garlic and spices I think....wanted the bacon one but they were out...but didn't want to lose my coupon for $1.50 off and with meat so high I took what I could get.....good coupons are hard to come by. Frozen pizza tonight...
GB that is a lot of costumes.....and a lot of work....When I worked at the church we had a drama every year at Christmas time...huge (for our small church) production....the two costume ladies would sew day and night....the most impressive costume they made was the King's red velvet robe....it was trimmed in gold and had a long train....it gave me chills when he walked in....they said it was a nightmare to work with because it was sooooo huge.....the guy wearing it was 6'5"......it took four long tables to lay it out.....

Zhoen that kitten is adorable....how can you say no.....lol....When my kids were small my son came home and had his dad sign a paper.....dad didn't read it.....it was permission to take the class gerbil!!!! Dad came home one day and about had a cow.....I thought it was funny....he was cute and would roll all around the house in his ball....

Another 3 digit day.....slept late as I couldn't sleep last night....woke up at 8 with helicopters flying over neighborhood...don't know what was going on. He must have been flying really low cause it sounded like he was right over our house. Didn't see anything on the Neighborhood site so don't know what was going on. Wasn't about to go out and see...
Making meatloaf for dinner. Have half of salad from dinner last night to go with it and will make some kind of starch...don't feel much like cooking...
Got a huge windchime that husband wants to put in front yard....not sure about that as I'm sure someone will like it more then I do and think it would look good in their yard.......don't want to put in the back yard as it will scare the birds away....might give to my son in law for their yard.....they have coyotes that come up into their yard and the noise will help keep them away......they also have hawks who are always eyeing their little dog as their next meal....

Picked up 5 packs of little boys underwear for $10. Underwear is so expensive if you have to pay full price.......my sister has already picked up 180 pairs of little girls underwear for next year. This is the same sister who told me I couldn't pack shoeboxes next year....lol She is finding it hard to pass up a bargain. God is working on her.

July is almost over. Time is flying much too fast....

Happy Birthday Martha. Hope it was a good one....of course any birthday is good....

Going run to grocery store and pick up few things....grandson coming at 7 for dinner so think I'll do salmon. I really don't feel like cooking so it will all be easy....bake potato and salad....

Husband mailed big box of extra clothing and shoes I had to a friend. Wasn't too bad $27 by UPS....found a men's shelter close to my house to drop off extra men's shoes I have....slowly getting things cleaned up. neighbor is having her house fixed finally after the fire back in January....getting stuff together for her so she will have something new when she gets in....she was able to save most of her stuff other then her furniture....

Another hot one.....nothing planned for weekend....too hot to do anything...it drains me.....even tho I am in my a/c house...

Been reading in between packing shoeboxes and staying off the net and just have tv on for noise....nothing on anyway...just repeats....

Will be in the 90's the next ten days or so.....they say it will storm Friday and Sunday. Will believe it when I see it. We need it! Husband has been watering the yard trying to keep it going....

Saw doctor real quick today and got my shot. Talked to her about my other meds.....thinking I will have to go back to infusions. Will see.....have a small red spot on my leg I've been treating with fungus meds but turns out not to be a fungus. She gave me some cream for it and I will talk to Primary about it next time I see him...

Middle grandson is coming for dinner tonight. I picked up a deli chicken as I don't feel like cooking. Will bake some potatoes and have a salad to go with it. Maybe I'll get energy and make some banana muffins....doubt it...

Picking up a few things from an auction tomorrow. Mostly stickers for the shoeboxes. I think I see the end of the tunnel. I hope so!!!!

Another hot one....but it's suppose to rain and it is overcast so we will see.....

Going to see sil later this afternoon....it's been awhile since we've seen him. I heard he is hoping to go back to work...he is really bored. Which I understand....he is a guy who was always busy and doing something....guess that's why I don't understand these people who don't work. What happened to self pride? I couldn't wait to graduate, get a job and move into my own apartment and buy my own things with my money I earned. Sad world...

I made a fruit salad on Tuesday and I had a bowl that night and found a piece of glass in it....just a thin tiny slice of glass....so had to throw it away...I have no idea where it came from......I about cried.....fruit isn't cheap.... yesterday I got more fruit and lunch meat and that is what we are having for dinner for the next three days....too hot to cook. I couldn't believe the price of things....I use to buy angel food cake on sale for $1.99 reg. price $2.99....it's now $5.49!!! I did not buy it of course!!! The three packages of lunch meat, ham, turkey and swiss cheese was $25 and the rolls were $5.49.....it's no wonder the food pantries are having a hard time....

Found cereal b1g1f so I picked up six huge boxes for food pantry. And I found a set of 12 piece dish set with bears on them. They are really cute. (isn't that how it works....you buy something to donate and you buy something for yourself? ) Will set my table with them next week.....this week I have cat plates....

Nothing planned for the weekend...Will work on my boxes.....I have 20 boxes done for 10-14 boys. Will do another ten or so. Then just have boys 5-9 to do and I will be done....time to get my living room back in order.

Vexed that is smart shopping....when I see what parents are spending I wonder what they do for a living....lol...four and five hundred a child!!!! It's like they can't use anything from last year.....we always got new shoes and if my parents could afford it, a new outfit....but many years not the outfit....I was lucky I had three younger siblings and we all wore the same size so if we got new outfits, it was like getting four.....
Another hot day here....did nothing....ran and picked up an auction win....separated some clothes in totes and decided how many I'm keeping for next year, rolling up and putting sizes on everything and will send the extras for fillers....then I took a nap....I couldn't keep my eyes opened....slept for a couple of hours and felt better....probably won't sleep tonight...
Just had cup of soup for dinner with cheese and toast. Husband had yogurt. Will make stuffed peppers that was planned for tonight tomorrow. Hopefully I'll feel like it....that's my problem....somedays I just can't function and all plans go down the drain. Sometimes I'll push myself but then I'm out the next day or two.......can't win....I thought these were suppose to be my golden years....
We are planning on driving back east in October....going to Nebraska first and then cross country. I decided I couldn't handle the airports....this way if I'm not feeling well, we can stop early or not drive as far as we planned, etc....will see how this works out.

Looks like we might get a little rain....hope so, we need it.
Lazy day...have to pick up script at Wags and picking up a sewing machine I won in auction. It an older model and was only $6. Singer. My sister wants one to tinkle with so maybe this will work....if not, I'm not out a lot of money....

I see the end of tunnel and it's this week I'm going be done.....have 250 boxes packed with ten more that need underwear which i have but it's in a tote with totes al around it so will have to get husband to move totes. It's been a journey. But I do love doing it.

Having left over salad for dinner.....August half over...can you believe it....school has started for most of districts...great grandson starts next week I believe.
