Looks like more rain coming. Taking mom to get her hair done. I think she's getting it cut too. Will take a little bit longer. Then we'll stop and pick up her grocery order. I know she'll say something like "dad can carry it in". Sorry, the guy can barely stand up without falling over. He opened the trunk so I could get the wheel chair out and almost fell. He only opened the trunk. I can carry the groceries. Hopefully we won't have a day like last week. It will just be walking from the car into the salon and back. It was really hot last week too. It was just too much for her.

I may stop at Aldi on the way back and pick up a few things we need. Hopefully they have the burgers dh likes. I bought some from walmart, because that's where we were and he didn't like them at all. Then I'll finish working on my grocery order for later tonight or in the morning. And pay bills. I don't want to rush through it this time. I missed something last time, and then could not log in to the account to get it paid quicker. Finally figured out the log in and updated all the info. What a pain. I just need to slow down.

I have a pork loin and some potatoes and carrots in the crock pot for dinner tonight.

Jetts: I remember when my gramma, at 95 with NO cartilage in her knees...in fact the ends of the bones were worn off..., no upper body strength and no balance but living up like 30 steps over an old drug store; announced that I could just pile the groceries at the bottom of the steps and she'd make a few trips to get them up to her apartment! UH!!! HOW??? With both hands on the railing and going up sideways so she could lead with her "good" leg. She said she put the jug of milk up a step. TOok a step. Moved it up a step, took a step....etc. I told her I was pretty sure I"d be sucked down a hellmouth if I didn't carry her groceries up. she laughed and let me. I guess she figured the devil out ranked her???

As for frugal....I am driving SLOWER and getting 1.5 more miles per gallon, 15ish more miles per fill up. And trying trying trying to drop 1 town trip (work, store, etc) every other week. It's rough as I am also needing to speed up the construction on the house with the late late spring, so that means trips. Sigh.

then there were the brakes on the car, the tires the truck needs...always seems like I am hemorrhaging money over summer.

It has been a damned expensive and annoying week. Four meals out in 5 days, another brand new computer, and another storm that left the neighbor's branches in our yard.

My old computer crashed, and crashed hard. Information not recoverable. DH has been working in his time off to figure it out and get it repaired but we had to buy a new one in the end. And we just had bought a new one at the beginning of the month for games. Lost all my passwords, emails, links etc. Had to pay for tech support at one company to get that account back. Feeling tired and pissed off, but better now that I can post again.

We had rain yesterday and today which was a nice change from the heat. I was able to get my cucumbers transplanted and some of the garden cleaned up. We have been lucky that none of the downed branches have landed on my garden. Neighbors will be cleaning their own mess this time, because DH and I went out at midnight while it was still raining and heaved that %$#@! over the fence where it belonged.

Finished some leftovers for lunch and dinner. Have more for tomorrow and a lot of food in the house. Spent about $50 on monday for basics, bread, milk, a few vegs. Don't see anything good in the ads this week. Heck, didn't even get all the ads.

Ready for this month to end.

No real plans today, 1 exercise class and leftovers for supper. There are things I could do in the yard and weather should be reasonable. Still damp outside from the rains Wednesday. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Rained again a little last night, got more coming but doubt it will be heavy. VERY high humidity but cool. I might get my last two tomatoes planted.

Staying home and waiting for pills that were supposed to be delivered yesterday. It's UPS so it could be any time today. I want to go shopping but we don't really need anything yet. Have barely cooked anything this week so I'm starting over with what needs to be used first. Got an idea for a Thai chopped salad from a free local foodie magazine. It's chopped cabbage and lettuce, with fried chicken tenders and peanut dressing. And I happen to have leftover fried chicken to use up today, so that will be dinner.

Looking forward to a nice weekend with friends. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Raining this morning. I chose a later grocery pick up so they don't have to come out in the rain. Hope it clears up. Need to pick up my Kohls order too. Got dgd some new "pool" shoes. They weren't what she originally wanted, but after discounts and kohls cash they were $6. I picked a design I thought she'd like. She was a bit off last night when we stopped by. Didn't seem to care too much. She's growing up. We took some things over to their freezer, to make room in my freezer. It's all food, they can use and more than we can use up before it goes bad. I threw out a couple things of ground meat because it got buried and looked freezer burned. Not taking that chance again.

Going to lay out all the burgers on a tray to freeze individually. Once frozen, I'll put them in a food saver bag and freeze them. Less chance of freezer burn. I know we'll use most of it on the 4th. Stocked up now, so I don't have to deal with the crowds later and all the stuff not being there. I'll do the same with the hot dogs. Bought a big package at Aldi yesterday. Dgd loves hotdogs. It's hard to find something she'll eat.

CH - sorry you had a bad week. Hope you have a good weekend.

Going to spend some time in the basement putting away all the food I bought. Trying to keep everything stocked so I don't have to make unnecessary trips to the store. The only thing I didn't get was milk. We tend to buy too much and then it goes bad before we think to freeze it. Maybe do a load of laundry and finish cleaning the bathroom. Got the pee smell out from the cat. She's doing better. I think we're doing game night again. We usually play canasta. Dgd has learned to play and she's really good. I'll probably make ham and cheese sliders. Have some ham in the freezer to use up.

Going to the farmers market today to sell...maybe for the last time...AND with a list! I'm picking up stuff for 2 other people which saves them gas and time. Lots of people who aren't usually fuel/food conscious are talking about it now! Kind of cool.

CH sorry you are having a bad week, month.....wish you lived near me....we had four desk top computers we gave away and still have one that hasn't found a home yet. My husband likes tinkering with them but we are finding it hard to give away. I don't know too much about computers but they would be great for gaming I'm sure, and I know one or two were going to be used for college.

It's going to be in the 100's this weekend....we were going to go to the country but it is even hotter there.....the camper we were going to stay in has a/c but doubt it would be able to keep up and it be too hot to sit outside so we decided to wait till it cools off.

We will probably have pizza tonight or Italian take out. Found a place where husband can get a huge plate of spaghetti and meatballs and I get a strombroli for $20 and it feeds us for two meals.

Doctor appt. went well yesterday. His son was there with him so I went easy on him about wanting my doctors to work together sharing blood work and tests results, etc. He was talking to me about my weight....he asked me if I was happy with my life....I looked at him and told him I wasn't in Ukraine where there was a war going on, wasn't in Afganistan where there is an earthquake, I'm not homeless and have a/c, I donate to the food pantry and don't have to ask for food, I am up and walking, have enough money to pay my bills and have outlived most of my friends....just celebrated my 75th birthday...have a husband who allows me to pack hundreds of shoeboxes for children in third world countries and never complains about the money I spent........why wouldn't I be happy???? Because I'm 20-30 lbs. overweight? Who cares????

I have 55 shoeboxes packed for girls 2-4. They are stacked in my guest bathtub. I have a tote full of extra clothing I put in baggies along with underwear and socks and will send as fillers for those boxes that come in that needs some extra stuff. I will start girls 5-9 next week. It's overwhelming sometimes.....my sister and her dil spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on clothes...they were all super cheap....2 dresses for a dollar from Walmart!!! Underwear package of 12 for a dollar....we don't have sales like that here....so grateful to them for helping me.....my sister in Florida works for Walgreens and she sent me a huge box of socks and school supplies yesterday. Why wouldn't I be happy with my life....LOL....

I had purchased about 500 folders for the shoeboxes but I have so much stuff I decided not to use so am donating to a teacher. Will drop off this weekend. I also purchased about 400 chains. I have about 500 little charms that I have been putting on elastic colored cords to make necklaces and thought the chains would work....nope....charms holes won't fit on chain. Will be looking for a home for some of these chains..... Sometimes I make more work for myself I think...

2022 is half over....can you believe it.....Not doing anything for 4th of July. If we don't get rain, there won't be any fireworks.

I agree that it is a silver lining in all of this... I am glad that you are seeing some changes... now that I have graduated, I can't eavesdrop on all the 20-somethings at my school anymore, so my only data sources are internet searches and family/friends, and I'm not seeing much behavior change there yet... It is awesome that your friends are making smart decisions, and awesome that you are helping with their lists!

Lately I have been pulling out my calculator A LOT just calculating price differences and unit-price costs... I think it is driving me a little batty! 😜 I wonder if it wouldn't be better if I just stuck my head in the sand!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Today I figured out that the canning lids I bought on Tuesday are now 20% more expensive than they were in February (after being unavailable for 18 months before that)... then, yesterday I bought some eggrolls on a whim at the local place and they charged me 7% more for 2 eggrolls than their posted menu prices (and they STILL don't run their AC!!!)-- I get that costs are rising, but dude, get a pen and change the flyer in your window!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Conversely, I read an article about a charity fundraiser ball that raised $550k at the local casino... but had only about 350 attendees... that means that each attendee averaged over $1550 in donation BEYOND the base cost of the venue and catering... that makes my eyes cross... clearly I am not in that tax bracket... I hope their fancy dinner was as delicious as my +7% eggrolls!!! 😜

We went on vacation with the grandkids last week to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Got back yesterday. The temp is suppose to be 103 again today. Got out and watered and weeded my herb bed early. Going to clean house today. Picked some of my cantaloupes. I have a ton coming on. My tomatoes are loaded, but not ready yet. I noticed a cucumber, so guess I have pickling in my future along with trying to finish costuming this show.

Welcome back GB, hope the vacation was nice. Looks like you have a busy weekend ahead. No tomatoes yet for me, a few small green ones but it is too early here for them.

Zhoen, I have been watching prices go up too. DH's yogurt cups have gone from .39 to. 67 each. Half gallon of milk from 2.09 to 2.89, and half-n-half from 1.39 to 1.89. I haven't even looked at meat prices the past couple of weeks.

Going to be warm today, but it is that time of the year. Going over to a friend's house for lunch, they are making sandwiches, we are bringing drinks. I have a board game I've been wanting to try since before covid.

Not sure about dinner, depends on how long we stay out. Have rolls and sandwich fixings, as well as a lot of garden lettuce so I could fix something.

Hot today, but cooler temps coming in. Dgds and parents are swimming right now. Oldest stayed while youngest went home for a nap. They all came back to swim. I'll order some pizza later for dinner for all of us.

Today is Mom's birthday. She's 86 now. She's not sure she likes the hassle of dialysis. Her mom was the same way and decided not to get the permanent port. The center wouldn't continue using the temporary ports, so she passed after a week of no dialysis. I know my mom is trying to hang on for my dad. He'd be lost without her. Dad will be 89.

Need to get into the spare bedroom and start organizing my craft stuff. Dh said it's been long enough, he's going to do it. I just have no motivation. Life right now is wearing me out and I'm always so tired. I've heard that eating cucumbers will give you a great pick me up. Better than coffee. I don't drink coffee. I'll have to give that a try.

After they all go home, I'll try to get something done, either laundry or the craft stuff. Dh is still talking about a garage sale. Maybe right before school starts. Then I can do a donation drop.

I picked up some fruits as DS2 wanted some (besides strawberries/bananas). I've been dehydrating those. My sister bought a freeze dryer and has done hard candies/bananas in it. She makes cookies/tea breads and has an outdoor show coming up. I hope she sells out.

I got 2 aloe plants and put them outside. I hope it gets hot enough for them. I bought an apple tree today and it is probably 5 years old as it has an apple on it. It's very thick and a dwarf, so I bet it will handle the snowstorms better than the tree we got from Costco.

Today, I pulled various weeds/grass out of the backyard and front tree. It's supposed to storm all next week and very hot. I'll probably put plastic chairs over the garden and raspberries. I may put plastic over the soil around the new apple tree so it doesn't get water- logged. I'll ask the nursery what to do.

Was hoping for a nice long rain last night and today but it missed us. We did get the 70F temps though. Such a nice break. I finally got my last few plants in the garden and they'll be loving this as they get settled.

DH got the vacuum out so I know what he has in mind today. And we both need to do laundry. Logs and branches still need to be moved out of the driveway and around back.

Got a meal plan scrabbled together, need a shopping list now. Not much, milk, bread, cat food. Dr appt tomorrow so I'll make one trip and pick up stuff on the way home. Gas is coming down, saw it at 4.39-49 last night.

Rujerro, the game is Cthulhu: Death Must Die. It's a monster hunting game. I don't think it's available retail, but you might find it online.

Tuna or egg salad for dinner. Have some sub rolls left. I think the last few slices of sandwich bread are green. Have corn on the cob and watermelon, too.

our first hot weekend going into high 80s low 90s next couple of days not normal here. a/c has kicked on already before noon keep it about 78. but watered everything and will do again later, did some gardening.
yesterday got my auctions vintage bench glider and 60s barbie stuff plus some toy alligators.and other errands gas before it went up, one library run. got older show Jonathon Creek from library to see if we like it.

still on decluttering bug..washed some stuff to put in the donation bag and put some other stuff in a bag for them too. going to see if bench will fit on front porch so will be more protected. wet here so wood always rots. decluttering cleaning always on the agenda isn't it. need dh help w a minor things and then some like get the laundry cupboard back up since been down for weeks etc. nothing big but gets forgotten. got macrame hangers from amazon..4 for $16..donated one cus don't like but need help putting up. still allergies but got big box of reactine works best for ds and me. came w free extra 20 pack so sent that to camp w ds.

ds is camping still no new is good news. a couple of them are experienced. the spaghetti and meatballs didn't get eaten so out for crows etc. a waste I ate some of it but ds wasn't eating much at home last few days. did a grocery order for delivery all more heavy stuff and now dh wants to go to costco and I said I would come with and he is no will be more expensive lol they are out of hotdog buns so need them. have lots of veggies to use up a salad from last csa and new one coming so hotdogs smokies and salad on the dinner list tonight. think dd friend is coming over too later. there are a few wants on the list like pop , ice cream but well is summer.

listed some fabric on Ebay, cutting up some other fabric for charm squares to sell online. Got the fan going, 90 degrees out but it is tolerable inside. My part of the house has no south facing windows, so it's not too bad. When it gets too hot I sit out on the deck which is on the east side.

Good morning. Luckily no bad effects from the COVID booster on Saturday. May get some rain, and cloud cover is keeping the temps under 80. Exercise classes and some online training today. Hubby's other car had a recall so he will be at the shop for a while. Glad he did not ask me to drive him back & forth (again). Read one of the free Amazon Prime e-books and started a sewing project over the weekend. Have a good week.
