GB: congrats! Only time I won anything gambling (peer pressure from community members...the local casino pays for my job so they wanted me to donate back a bit) it was 400$ from putting 20$ in a penny slot machine. I cashed out, bought a cheap but clean couch and paid some bills. I hadn't had a couch/guest bed in years. Enjoyed it for a few years and passed it on when I moved.

So far so good today! Did go to the gym which had been hard to get to during storms and I think I lost some muscle mass. At my age...mid 50s...I don't dare do that! Hard to get it back. I'd been shoveling but that doesn't cover all the bases. Anyway, good to get back.

Have to fuel up today. Yesterday I picked up the fancy new chimney brush (powered by a drill that I already own). It was dark when I got home so I will try to use it the next time I'm home and there is daylight. I haven't had a fire in a week now due to clogged stove pipe. It has stayed above freezing and I'm at the office all day so it isn't really a problem, just annoying. By the time I make soup and bread for the next day, my place is plenty warm in the evening to go to bed. Bit chilly putting on 38degree jeans this morning but they warm up in about a minute. Then...a chicken pooped on my head while I was feeding them. WISELY I am wearing my raincoat with a hood everytime I go in there until I can re-arrange the roosts away from the feed/human-door area. I am not a good designer...

I decided to spend $20 and buy a scratch off. I never do that, but it turned out to be $500.
Nice!!! I never play except giving away scratch-offs at the holidays, and I've never won more than my money back. :)
. I already have neuropathy so once I can't feel pain or cold, I will leave and take the financial loss.
BE CAREFUL!!!
Need to organize the freezer too... It's so packed full I can't find anything.
THIS!!!!

My plan for dwindling down our freezer stash is not progressing as quickly as I would like... 2 teen girls=hormone-a-palooza, plus whiny-post-surgery-H... nobody wants to eat what is planned, lots of impulse junk food happening right now...

The latest in my licensure saga-- Today I got my fingerprints done and the background check sent off... check that box... AND... then there is an email from the school that the Board of Nursing is not accepting online applications for licensing for now because of a massive data breach... so we are kickin' it old school with paper forms and driving out to the board and standing in line, etc.. It is bothersome, no doubt, but most of my classmates are 20-something and have never filled out a paper form in their lives!!! 🤣

I think that is going to have to wait until Monday...

Good morning. Well, we have another winter storm coming Sunday-Monday. I have 2 things to get done outdoors. Hubby says he will help but that would mean waiting for him to actually do so. So I'll probably proceed alone. Burgers for supper while the grill is easy to get to. I'll get veg soup out of the freezer for lunches. Got a email from one of the grocery chains apologizing they are not offering any special weekend deals due to supply chain problems. Other grocery chain says the weekly ad is delayed and they will update prices ASAP. Kind of disturbing. Placed my Target order so go pickup in a few hours. I'm keeping extra of everything on hand so it's a constant process. I hope everyone has a good day.

Wow! you can get to a grill! cool. I say my small greenhouse this morning for the first time in weeks. The 3' of snow is about 50% melted off. I scraped a tiny hole down to the south side window the other day to let some light in. We are having days in the mid to high 30s and that helps. Must have gotten a little sun yesterday too.

The chickens can go out again too. I dug them a small spot out of the giant snow pile against their south wall and chicken door (design flaw...oops). They must be going outside a bit because there is fresh poo there.

This weekend with the thaw continuing probably, I hope to find my utility sled so I can get some chores done while it is easy to haul over the snow/ice. Once it is mud, it is less pleasant. I think I still have a foot or more of snow on the ground.

Cooler and cloudy today, weather moving in. Not sure what the latest prediction is. Last night they said it could be too warm to snow as the big storm passes over us tomorrow. Rain would be ok, it's been dry here.

Sewing projects and closet clean out to do today. Lot of things I know will never fit me again, just taking up space.

GB, congrats on the lucky win!

Zhoen, hope H is feeling less cranky soon. :)

Pork and pineapple rice bowls for dinner. Will make sure there is leftover broccoli for DH to make egg cups for next week.

TGIF!

Cloudy today. I don't remember what they said about the storm coming in. I know it's supposed to start raining tonight. I just hope it doesn't turn to ice. I'd rather have a bunch of snow that a little ice.

Picking up a walmart grocery order. I fed the dogs for the first time in a while and saw that we are almost out of dog food. Getting dog and cat food, bird seed and the usual milk and eggs. I'll probably run inside and pick up some blueberries and maybe strawberries for dh. I could have added to the pickup order, but dh is a little too picky.

I did get the ice tray and top drawer of the freezer cleaned out. Need to work on the bottom. Dh asked me to bring up some chicken wings from the freezer in the basement. I told him there wasn't anymore room in there. He cooked half of them and then found a spot in the freezer. I haven't bought any food this year so far. Only a few really good loss leaders, fresh fruit and perishables. Nothing else has gone into the freezer. Oh, I did buy some more chicken wings. They had just stocked them. With the NFL playoffs and super bowl coming up, I wanted to make sure we had plenty. Dh makes a lot of chicken wings. It's something he can throw in the air fryer for lunch, if we don't have any leftovers. It's a quick meal when ds comes over too.

Not sure what we'll eat tonight. Something from the freezer.

Good morning. Dog1's GI problems continue, he will get very limited amount of food today. I obviously should not have given him full ration yesterday. They also got their flea/tick chewables yesterday so maybe that is part of the problem. Got the 2 outside chores done - hubby did the more strenuous one after all. Using up odd leftover vegs to add to pasta sauce for supper. Snow starting mid-day Sunday. :cautious: I am ready for spring, or at least no more snow.

Cold front came through last night. It went from 79 to the 30s very quickly. Possible snow flurries today. Our local school district shutdown yesterday and they are off Monday for holiday. Too any teachers out with COVID and no subs. Dgd and DH home. I could work everyday, but no thank you. With my winnings I was able to get all my bills paid before the due date. That hasn’t happened in a long time. Got creamy chicken thighs and noodles in crockpot for tonight. Going to make cream of asparagus soup for lunch. Got to feed the chickens.Guess I better bundle up.

Below freezing this morning with 1-2 inches on the ground. Watching it blow around. Everything is still pretty, like a frosted cake. A plow came by, I'm rather surprised. Storm has dipped south and is picking up gulf moisture before heading east. Could be a big one.

Not much going on today. Memorial service for a friend's husband this afternoon, roads should be clear by then. We only have to drive a mile or so.

Thawed one of my extra turkey breasts, will be roasting that for dinner. Have brussels sprouts, potatoes, gravy, etc.

Hope everyone has a nice, warm weekend.

Finally stopped snowing. Not sure how much we got because the wind has been blowing. I’d say 2-3 inches. Good day to stay in. Dgds are still at their nana’s. I had a feeling that would happen. They are supposed to come home tomorrow. Ds wants to take them sledding . They won’t be spending the night tomorrow because I need to take my car in on Monday for a safety recall and another issue. Don’t want to deal with the girls.

Baked some cookies this morning. Dh cleaned the bathroom. Cleaned out all the extra junk under the sink. Doing a little bit of laundry.

Thawed some steaks and shrimp for dinner tonight. Thawing out some leftover pot roast and veggies for beef stew tomorrow.

Chilly today. Shoveled some more space around the car as long as it isn't too chilly out. May as well gain some ground before the inevitable next storm. Going to set up my new drill powered chimney brush and make sure I know what I am doing BEFORE I try to use it. It is 40F out right now and won't get too chilly tonight so don't need a fire for a bit anyway.

Made duck soup for supper and Justin googling simple dumpling recipes to add to it. The chickens went outside voluntarily today! The must have 'coop fever'

CH-The chicken treat site makes me want to have chickens too! Sorry to hear about the memorial service. I'm glad you were able to be there for your friend.
GB- Your dinner sounds really good right now...I put some french fries and popcorn shrimp in oven.
Maggie- How did the chimney work out?

It's been a rough week so I took time off the gym and have not picketed yet. I'll try to picket starting tomorrow. They want me outside at night but I have not seen anyone at night and don't wanna be alone....I may show up during the daylight instead.

Took dog1 to vet yesterday, he started vomiting in addition to the diarrhea. He has done this before, something he is prone to. I try to manage it earlier (diet) so we haven't had this problem for over a year. This time did not manage well due to my own vaccine side effects Wed-Thurs. I now have a case of the prescription digestive food I can use next time this starts happening. His regular food is very similar to the prescription ingredients.
Waiting for snow to start followed by ice and rain. If lucky the rain will melt everything and hubby won't have to clear the driveway. Something with thawed chicken for supper. Hubby made grits for breakfast, maybe I can get him to make french toast tomorrow. My first hour of the day is always spent walking the dogs so I should try to put him to work. Have a good day.

Still have snow on the ground and below freezing temps. No plans today. New cat on the back deck this morning, brown tabby stripe with a clipped ear. Another stray. It was very hungry.

MLK day tomorrow. DH should have it off work. I'm going to be getting ready for the monthly quilt bee. Will also go over my grocery list. Need vegetables and a very few other things but I think it is going to hit $100 again. Planning to get most of it from Aldi.

Tuna sandwiches and soup for dinner. Something easy. Have some old bread I can cut up and toast for croutons.

My sis in Florida sent photos of bare shelves at Publix/Walmart...No toilet paper. DH went to several markets today looking for chicken. HA. I told him about a food shortage and fertilizer issue but he keeps telling me it's not true......I told him to get water on his search tomorrow- if he can find any. He shook his head no....Mind you, I asked for a bottle of water from the market the other day and he brought me sparkling water. I said I don't drink sparkling anything and he said they were out of water. I said we are having a repeat of 2020 but he said no we aren't. Well, I believe I need to get gardening this year but know he will not want that as he loves his lawn. He yelled about my stockpile claiming I "just wanna buy stuff." Yup. Let's see how this plays out......

I was in the mood late last night for broth and had a bag of soup mix. I made that and finished it today.
DS2 is back to online classes. I don't know if he is happier about it or not but it does keep us out of the elements while waiting for the bus. And me driving in bad weather to get to the bus.....
