It's hot! Did my grocery shopping yesterday. I had to take dgd to my nephew's house. The moms all got together there with the kids and the dads went and did something together. Dgd was here to swim with some of her cousins before. I offered to drop her off. Then decided to go get some bread. The store didn't have the brand I wanted, so left and went over to Walmart market. decided to just do my shopping for the week. Staying home to wait on a delivery.

Mom called yesterday with another appointment. She's been trying to get her thyroid meds refilled, but can't get into the new doctor until November. She'll be seeing a nurse practitioner. Another thing to add to my calendar. She said she won't get her hair done next week, because it's the same day and spaced too far apart. That way I don't have to make two trips. I'd just stay and wait if it was closer together, but I have doggies to take care of.

Dinner tonight will be lobster tail and crab legs. Dgd loves shrimp. So we told her she needs to try crab and lobster. Hope you all have a great weekend. Stay safe and cool.

Wish I could go with you.
I'll post lots of pictures, it will be just like going, except without the scary roadside bathrooms and the traffic!
But as a Vermonter, I would substitute a REAL country store for the VCS, which is a tourist trap full of cheap imports at jacked-up prices. Try Dan & Whit's in Norwich or Gillingham's in Woodstock. Don't forget to have a maple creemee!
Norwich is a bit too far out of the way, but I have added Gillingham's to the itinerary, thanks! And I will TRY a maple creemee, but I can't promise more than one bite. Maple is NOT one of my favorite things ;P

So thanks everyone for all the encouragement! I am 85% going to go, and very excited about it. Alas, the opportunity cost is that I am NOT driving to the shelter to pick up 4 adorable tiny kittens right now, since they are too young for me to abandon them with my family for even 2 days... my "big" baby is almost 3 months old now and ranges the whole house, so he will be fine-- he is VERY clear when he wants something.

Safeway has some good coupons ($5 off $5 purchase) so I'll go there soon though it's not my usual store. Have a nice weekend.
Jealous!!! Mine is $5 off $50!!!

Dgd loves shrimp. So we told her she needs to try crab and lobster. Hope you all have a great weekend. Stay safe and cool.
I hope she likes it, but not LOVES it :) My girls LOVE both snow crab and lobster, and it gets pricey with there being 3 of us!!! We can usually swing it a couple times a year when there are grocery specials around the holidays... The girls have been on a fish-sticks (well, whole filets actually) kick lately, and it is funny because they think they are getting a treat, but it's sooooo much cheaper than anything else in seafood department. They are actually cooking some right now! :ROFLMAO:

Another hot one....but it's suppose to rain and it is overcast so we will see.....

Going to see sil later this afternoon....it's been awhile since we've seen him. I heard he is hoping to go back to work...he is really bored. Which I understand....he is a guy who was always busy and doing something....guess that's why I don't understand these people who don't work. What happened to self pride? I couldn't wait to graduate, get a job and move into my own apartment and buy my own things with my money I earned. Sad world...

I made a fruit salad on Tuesday and I had a bowl that night and found a piece of glass in it....just a thin tiny slice of glass....so had to throw it away...I have no idea where it came from......I about cried.....fruit isn't cheap.... yesterday I got more fruit and lunch meat and that is what we are having for dinner for the next three days....too hot to cook. I couldn't believe the price of things....I use to buy angel food cake on sale for $1.99 reg. price $2.99....it's now $5.49!!! I did not buy it of course!!! The three packages of lunch meat, ham, turkey and swiss cheese was $25 and the rolls were $5.49.....it's no wonder the food pantries are having a hard time....

Found cereal b1g1f so I picked up six huge boxes for food pantry. And I found a set of 12 piece dish set with bears on them. They are really cute. (isn't that how it works....you buy something to donate and you buy something for yourself? :D) Will set my table with them next week.....this week I have cat plates....

Nothing planned for the weekend...Will work on my boxes.....I have 20 boxes done for 10-14 boys. Will do another ten or so. Then just have boys 5-9 to do and I will be done....time to get my living room back in order.

Hope everyone has a great weekend....stay healthy...stay safe....and stay cool.....

Shopped at Safeway (not my usual store) because they had some good coupons, got 2 free items and other sale items. Raisin bread is in the machine, thawing kidney beans for bean salad for me. Working on the project for the lawyer. Poor dog2 - we had 3 separate thunderstorms in 24 hours, the last one was a doozy and nothing I did could calm him down. It was exhausting. Pasta & meatballs for supper.

Nice finds, Dlr. Hope the weather is calmer this weekend.

BW, that's terrible about the fruit. You know it might have been one sliver but you can't risk it. What a shame. Good deal on the cereal, and yes price of everything getting higher.

Zhoen, I look forward to travelling virtually with you. Haven't been up north in far too long. It must be almost leaf season up there.

It's just another hot and grossly sticky day here. Spending the afternoon with friends. We're going to pick up a bucket of fried chicken. That will be lunch and maybe dinner. I'll make a salad later if necessary.

Going to thaw a corned beef slab and do it in the slow cooker, then chill it for slicing later in the week. We still have a lot of rye bread. DH will make patty melts one night this week, too. I also want to try an Indian bean dish with lentils. It looks easy, soak overnight and cook until nearly mushy. I might need to put meat in it for DH.

Better get moving, have a nice weekend.

Good morning. Hot again but no storms yesterday and hope for nothing today. Remembered a UFO sewing project so I will dig that out and see what can be done. New audio book from the library and reserved a couple more for future. Have a good day.

DH cleaned up the garden this morning. Still getting squash, watermelon, okra, and tomatoes. The heat is terrible. Made some apple fritter bread and will have leftovers for lunch. Bought youngest DS a wind chime for his patio. DIL is going to hate the noise, but he wanted one. Doing laundry and that’s about it.

Spending a quiet day at home. Will be another hot and sticky day. Put leftover chicken in the fridge for later. Nobody was very hungry yesterday. Not sure yet what dinner will be. Maybe pork chops. Will thaw a corned beef and do it in the crock over night.

Got some papers to sort through, other crap, the usual house work. Three weeks until our trip, time to get serious about plans.

Another hot one. Supposed to be cooler tomorrow for a couple of days and then not as hot after that. I saw rain in the forecast, but now it doesn't look like much. A good rain would be nice.

Had dgds all day yesterday. Ds and wife did some nerd thing in the afternoon and then take the girls to gym. It was getting late and that's all the girls talked about. They finally left. Dgd said she had fun at gym, so I'm glad they got to go. Didn't leave any time for us to do anything. But it's been too hot to do anything outside. We ordered some fake grass. Going to make a potty spot on the deck for the dogs. They seem scared to go out at night. With winter coming, it will get dark sooner. We still need to build a frame and get some small pebbles for drainage. It's better than going in the house. This will mean I have to move all my plants from the deck. I've been trying container gardening and it's not producing. I even made sure to get seeds and plants specific for containers. I'm done. I'll just get flowers. I didn't inherit the green thumb from my dad and grandpa.

Just going to do some clean up. The girls sure dirty up a lot of dishes when they are here. The little one is always hungry. I think she says that because she's not busy. When we got together last week with family, there were lots of kids to play with. I only saw her eat once the whole time. Dh went into work. There are a few things he does when no one is in the building. Just easier than trying to work around people. He has a few inspections next week to get ready for. They will be selling the building in a year or two. Pretty sure there is a buyer lined up. Final walk through is next week. They have already talked to him about staying for the renovations they will make. That's good. Then maybe stay until he retires. It's still a few years off, but it will go by fast.

Going to grill steaks again with rice for dinner.

Cloudy today, keeping the temp down but not the humidity.

Jetts, it's not been a good year for gardening, and containers take a lot of time and attention, IMO, especially if it's hot. They dry out fast. A good rain would definitely be nice.

Spending the day at home. Already paid all the bills. Waiting on a package. Got some sewing projects to work on. Cooked a corned beef in the crock last night, it came out perfect. Already wrapped it and put it in the fridge to slice for sandwiches later. Have the usual cleaning to do. The kitchen floor is looking bad again. If I could get DH to stay out of it I'd try mopping, but he is in the fridge or making tea like every 15 minutes. Mats need cleaned too, but would never dry in this humidity.

I want to get my car super duper detailed, but that is pricey, so I'm opting for a cheaper special that does 2/3 of what I want for half the price, then will find a way to do the other part I want myself.

Going clothes shopping for and with my daughter tomorrow; wish us alllll the luck. She needs a*lot* of stuff...

That stinks about the fruit salad!! 😫

Hot today, hubby had to go out to work. Skunk neighbors finally hired someone to do their yard work. Invasive stilt grass at least knee high covers their entire back yard (faces our front yard) and part of the sides. 2 guys out there today hand pulling for hours. Wonder what that is costing them.
Made what I call Mexican chicken salad that will go in wraps for supper, using a can of chicken from the pantry. There are things that need to be used up. Opened and dumped free sugar packets into the sugar bowl for hubby, start using those up also. The sewing project is rather complicated but that is OK, a very dressy blouse w/ lots of pleating, high neck and long sleeves that was too small as is. If there are pleats or gathers it's possible to make things larger by releasing all the gathered fabric. The long sleeves provide extra fabric to work with since it will be sleeveless in the end.

Yes better safe then sorry with the fruit salad but still what a waste. mid 80s and not too humid but still hiding inside w ac. suppose to rain in a couple of days and go to the 70s. Watered everything and turns out the lawnmower dh got at auction wasn't battery but electric but ds likes it better. so part of the wild backyard got done and plum trees pulled. Like pulling teeth to get stuff done when really wouldn't take that long if it was just done. Have been cranky lol not sleeping well maybe the whole menopause thing is hitting plus just kids and life lol

Yesterday Since ph appt doc was useless wouldn't refer dh to specialist and here you need referral for any specialist or meds..dropped him at ER not long wait ..doc there said yes they are useless..so got him his eye meds etc. has a specialist appt today. Type of thing if you get it you know how to manage it. was hungry but mcds was too busy so left and then idiot blocked entrance to get out of parking being in wrong spot for drive though. was hangry lol went to my moms waiting for dh ..she didn't have any home baking so had some boxed cookies never had before and paying for it today. mom having same problem today so cancelled her appt so since I didn't need to drive her ..decided to be home for the day.. putter, housework, declutter and laundry. get dd do so some stuff. got the spots on kitchen floor and hall. dishwasher, cat hair the reg. hung up clothes and decided to rid of some skirts..one doesn't fit so if dd doesnt' want it .donate..other was a great deal at thrift store years ago new w tags but really never wore because no occasion so letting it go. won't fit dd. a bit at a time.

yesterday Turns out dd had a 2 hr petsitting gig so friends could go out for dinner date. ..they live close so saw him walking the dog on way to ER so was confused who what.. and well good for dd but really we couldn't handle any pets that couldn't be left for a couple of hours. so w dh eye etc didn't go anywhere. veggie drawer had 2 very far gone zucchini on the bottom plus lettuce was bad so clean out and I chopped all the good green onions, zucchini left etc tossed w zesty italian dressing and dh bbq'd for dinner but still lots left over. plus one burger and stumppot. may just cook some pasta for me..dry pasta I bring water to a boil put pasta in stir and cover turn off stove and leave for 20mins..works so well. easier too.

trimmed the carrots and have them in cold water for dinner too tonight in some form. have new batch of veggies coming tomorrow and one store has peppers on cheap this week. only need veggies, bread and creamo. plus library run but tomorrows problem. crows got the old smokie.

dh put washer fluid and air in my tires last night ..talked w neighbour across street who said there are big rats all over at the moment cus old buildings being torn down on the corner. he asked if we had a problem but we only had the one big rat we found dead. but then we have all the cats so hopefully they stay away. no one really has pets on the other side. Our oldest cat is a good rat killer. doesn't eat them thankfully and doesn't bring them indoors like our old cat did.

Cooler temps today. Haven't been feeling well the past few days. Last night I used my watch to check my heart rate and it was 106. I went to bed and it started coming down. Still too high. Need to check my blood pressure. Checked my stress level and it was high. Gotta do something about the stress. We went to dh's parent's house to pick up the wheelchair they had. This will save my sister and I from leaving the chair for each other. I need it twice this week and my sister needs it the other 3 days. Now we'll each have one. Took some pictures while we were there. Just of our family. Picked up a few things for dh's brother's wife. There were a couple of things she had given them and would like to have them back. We'll store them until she moves. The house is packed full of stuff. I know it will all get ugly soon. It's hard to see the hurt and anger in dh during all this.

We ended up getting bbq last night. I still have chicken to grill and a couple of steak pieces. I may just freeze the chicken and do something with the steak. I do need to go to the store for bread. Maybe pick up some peppers or something to cook with the steak. I have leftover bbq. I'll eat that for lunch/dinner.

Cold front came through last night, it was 69 this morning. Feels like the first day of fall, but it's going to get back into the 90's by the end of the week. Opened the kitchen window for some fresh air before it gets too warm. Half the neighborhood is out mowing.

It's good you got a 2nd wheelchair, Jetts. And good idea to take pics while you can.

No plans for today. The usual stuff to do. May mop more of the kitchen floor, it really needs it. Sewing projects to get done.

Will get some chicken out for dinner, may cook it on the grill.

we ROASTED here in the idaho panhandle yesterday. It only got down to 60degs over night...which is 15 higher than usual at my place. Slept on the floor. It was 70 down there, over 80 in the loft. Fortunately the solar batteries had enough umph from the blazing sun all day to keep a couple of small fans going all night. REALLY helps. Might need to put a tent up tonight and sleep outside. We'll see...it always seems like more of a hassle than it really is and I sleep so well in the tent. but I'm afraid the rooster will get up on it during the day to crow, crap, and claw on it. he can never just crow. Always makes him poop.
Will be hotter today so I did run to the grocery store for some on sale watermellon and the only cheap veg...carrots. I have a field trip tomorrow so can bring things that will travel well in a cooler. Also the last day of the watermelon sale. I see a carrot, watermelon gingerroot salad for lunch today. And the next many days as the only cheap carrots were in a 4lb bag!!! That is a lot of carrots. Maybe I will ferment some with the ginger.

Anyway, the heat should break by Friday which is good.
I have lettuce still in my garden but forget to pick it EVERY MORNING

We got rain today and brought temps to the 80s. Took glass to the recycling place, took a dress back to Kohl’s that DH bought for my birthday(not my size or style for my age), tutored, took costumes to the theatre and went to rehearsal later.

We had a cooler day than I was expecting here, too. It was nice.
We managed to only spend about $150 on both kids’ back to school clothes today. They both still have quite a bit, which I didn’t realize, and are reusing backpacks and lunchboxes. We do still need to buy them each a pair of sneakers.

Everything for my daughter, except one pair of shorts and some socks, we got on clearance!

Vexed that is smart shopping....when I see what parents are spending I wonder what they do for a living....lol...four and five hundred a child!!!! It's like they can't use anything from last year.....we always got new shoes and if my parents could afford it, a new outfit....but many years not the outfit....I was lucky I had three younger siblings and we all wore the same size so if we got new outfits, it was like getting four.....
Another hot day here....did nothing....ran and picked up an auction win....separated some clothes in totes and decided how many I'm keeping for next year, rolling up and putting sizes on everything and will send the extras for fillers....then I took a nap....I couldn't keep my eyes opened....slept for a couple of hours and felt better....probably won't sleep tonight...
Just had cup of soup for dinner with cheese and toast. Husband had yogurt. Will make stuffed peppers that was planned for tonight tomorrow. Hopefully I'll feel like it....that's my problem....somedays I just can't function and all plans go down the drain. Sometimes I'll push myself but then I'm out the next day or two.......can't win....I thought these were suppose to be my golden years....
We are planning on driving back east in October....going to Nebraska first and then cross country. I decided I couldn't handle the airports....this way if I'm not feeling well, we can stop early or not drive as far as we planned, etc....will see how this works out.
Hope everyone is having a great week....stay healthy....stay safe....stay cool...
