22 this morning but we have sun so I'm hoping it gets above freezing, not like yesterday. Not much going on today, staying home and staying warm.

Dlr, I find the Softscrub w/bleach works best in the bath. The bleach gets those stains that simple scrubbing can't. I've tried a lot of products in the shower and most of it just ends up in the drain.

I'm going to try again on the kitchen floor. Now that we're not constantly going in and out the back door from the garden. I got half of it clean a while ago, but it needs another going over.

Dinner with friends tonight. I'm making a corn casserole. Good old fashioned stick-to-your-ribs food.

Good morning. Cold but sunny, the wind has dropped. Guess I will rake some more leaves. I wanted to scrub grout yesterday but hubby was watching TV in that room a large part of the day. If it rains tomorrow that will be a good day to do more. Got my assignment for Thanksgiving - sweet potatoes. Ordered a box of smiley cookies shipped to hubby's aunt in Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving, glad I remembered early enough. Put patches on the soles of a pair of slippers, will be interested to see how long the repair lasts. Have a good day.

Just above freezing here, cloudy with weather moving in. Supposed to get freezing rain or light snow tonight. Fighting the urge to go out for the day just because.

Have fun with the sweet potatoes Dlr. I've seen a few new and interesting recipes this season. Or does your family like them covered in marshmallows?

Not much going on here. I've got to unpick a failed sewing project later. Getting a pot roast out for dinner. Been a while since we did one.

It was 54 this morning when we dropped off the shoeboxes.....took them about 30 minutes to unload...had a first time volunteer there that got broken in right........wish I had a picture of the lady behind us when we opened the van doors.........priceless....she said she was inspired to do more next year....evert box is one more child who will have a chance to go to school and have new clothes and toys. It feels good to have my guest bathtub back into commission. and I have a little more room in the guest room. My next door neighbor has been staying with us over the weekends...hoping her house will be done by Christmas. It's been a nightmare for her with the insurance company, contractors, general manager, workers, etc. She is itching to get back in....

Husband's party went well....one grandson overslept and had to go to work early so he couldn't attend...another one came by and stayed for two hours and then he had to go to work.....youngest got to see his cousins....they haven't seen each other for about four years. All due to my son and daughter being stubborn......it's sad...things went okay....had plenty of food and I'm glad I had ordered the fruit tray and veggie tray. Sometimes it's easier on this old body to spend the money and have things done....neighbor sent a flan over...omg it was delicious...I made german chocolate cupcakes and we also had pecan pie tarts with cool whip. Thank goodness the weather held out so we could eat outside....used three different china patterns and had pumpkins etc. on tables....looked nice. Picked up a corn hole game and the kids had fun playing that. Everyone was gone by six....I'm still tired....
I went thru my fall decor and kept what I thought I would use...well, after decorating, I found I still have too much...so will have to go thru again and part with more....

Now starts the end of year doctor visits....have one this week...dentist week after Thanksgiving...then, have labs for 2 doctor, and then oncologist does her own lab report....so have kidney specialist, oncologist, and RA doctor appts first ten days of December.....

Leftovers for dinner....
Dlr your sweet potato recipe sounds good......
CH 22 is cold.....my neighbor uses Blue Dawn to clean the tub....it always looks like new....they say the blue dawn is good for tough jobs....I haven't used the new Power Blue Dawn....

Hope everyone has a great week.....stay safe....stay healthy...

Had to return foster dog yesterday, always hard to do. He bit dh twice and was going after him again so I had to get between them. You just don’t know what some of these poor dogs have been through. He was very head shy so I’m assuming someone wasn’t very nice to him. I am picking up a puppy tomorrow to foster
It was also 22 degrees here this morning and sure felt like it. I always go out with the dogs before work to clean up poop and it was cold out this morning. Brrrrr.
Got home from work and remembered I was going to drop off a library book on the way home so had to go back out and do that. Mended a dog toy, ironed a pair of pants and finished cleaning the bathrooms that I had started before work. When dh got home, I held the flashlight while he put the snow sticks by the driveway. We might be getting some snow tomorrow.

Country Rabbit- Sorry to hear about DH and the foster pup. I hope the new little one is a bit easier on the foster parents.
Peg- I'm glad the party went well. It's always sweet to hear about the shoeboxes and how many kids have been blessed by your generosity. Speaking of generosity, you're kind to house the neighbor while her home is getting done.

It's been in the 20's here with snow/ice. The morning commute should be bad but I don't have to take DS2 to the bus stop until late, so the roads should be ok by then.

I looked into window insulation kits with the hair dryer shrinking the plastic. I'm going to give it a try! The window plants are getting stressed and I can feel the cold air....

I'll make enchiladas for dinner while DH makes hamburger helper. This week will also be chili.

I tried palmolive and lots of elbow grease on cleaning up the men's bathtub. It can be done. Maybe Dawn can make it easier. The guys have to do this since they have the hand strength and it's their bathtub.

I got a great sale on the Land's End site. I got free shipping and 50% off of anything, so fleece lined leggings was my purchase. I've been wearing fleece lined items under my clothes and a coat to my job.

Rabbit, sorry about the dog. A dog that might be fine in a quiet one-person household can be overwhelmed living with multiple people and other dogs. Dog1 would be quite happy if hubby did not live here. ;) I think it could be fixed but would require lots of time on hubby's part, so not happening - TV is so much more important.
Raked several more bags of leaves yesterday. Yard waste pickup is tomorrow and they will be gone. Rain coming in this afternoon, I have indoor things to do. Hubby has 2 doctor appointments today and I hope he will figure out supper. He went to the grocery store last night but did not buy milk, so I expect he will go again today.

Rabbit, sorry to hear about the foster dog. Like you said, you don't know what they've been through. It can take a while for them to gain trust. Better luck with the new dog.

We had light snow last night but most is melted off this morning. Still below freezing. DH is home today, tomorrow is the office birthday party.

Ruj, the fleece leggings sound so nice!

No big plans today. The endless cycle of house work continues. Got to get DH to run the dishwasher, don't know where all the silverware went. Pot roast came out nice but there's two dinners worth left so it needs packed up for the freezer. Been trying to use up the leftovers but the kitchen freezer is full again, so I'll see about planning some meals for next week.

Tonight's dinner is chicken and a vegetable. I'll looks and see what needs to be used first.

Good old comet for me w stubborn tubs but dont' know if it works for acrylic ones. Sorry about your foster pup but sounds like abuse from a guy in the past. so at least they can find a home and work on it. I hope his bites weren't bad.

The parrot we adopted..guy got rid (had from baby) cus his spanish speaking dark haired girl friend didn't want it..well no one spanish speaking/darkhair/female was liked after that. had a few not you but him speeches. our middle cat still rarely will stay on the bed w me though the others do plus if moisturize my hands (you know that over and under motion)..will freak and jump off the bed and run. so you know she was really hit for that..they were warped people. and we have had her for 6 or 7 years.

frosty here ..dh came home w raspy voice did covid up the nose test..no covid. guy he went for dinner w friday texted cus sunday his wife tested for covid. lots of colds etc going around anyways. friend borrowed trailer so the stuff we had in there went to dump and the rubber wheel fell off on the way to the dump but he didn't notice but tire got replaced so money out for that. dh said well tires were old. renewed the insurance too. we dont' bother until it is used. just the base of an old tent trailer that died in a bad storm we got for free.

got dd to make pancakes last night and I put the defrosted sausage in the oven today easy button something for dinner that just needs heating up. plus library run cus on the way to work. finish the year end project too.

Good morning. One of the grocery stores has sweet potatoes for 25 cents/lb, guess I need to make a stop there soon. I forgot to mention hubby has to fly out of state to attend a funeral over the weekend - airfare, hotel, rental car. :( I'm excused because dogs and barely knew the person. Anyway it will be a quiet weekend for me. Very wet outside from yesterday's rain. I'm working on a sewing project, could finish knitting a hat if I sat down for an hour with it. Will get sausages from the freezer and think of something to do with them. Have a good day.

Good deal on sweet potatoes for you Dlr! They are .49/lb in the new ad for this week here. Butter and maple syrup sound nice. I like them rather plain, with butter and a little cinnamon. Hope you have a peaceful day.

It's 27 here this morning. DH left for work and I got to sleep in. Not sure what the plan is yet, I may sit and do small crafts and enjoy the silence. It's nice and sunny and that helps with hand work.

Trying to avoid another grocery run this week, the fridge is stuffed. So last night I made a list of things in it and will try and work out some meals to get it used up. I found half a boneless turkey breast in the back! So now we have three! DH is almost out of milk but since he's not home I think we can go one more day. Tomorrow is supposed to be much warmer (ie: above freezing) and I can go out for more.

Tonight is our 2nd "Thanksgiving" dinner. Turkey raviolis with gravy, green beans, and l/o corn casserole.

Finally getting around to getting things done around here. Went to UPS to ship a package. Should have taken it to the post office instead. I should have know the cheap online quote wasn't real. Oh well, it's on it's way. Stopped at a grocery store for a few cheap items. Picked up a few other things too. The cashier didn't know you could load coupons to your card and called a manager over because the coupon wasn't working. Got some bacon and butter and few other odds and ends to add to the pantry. Things they didn't have last week.

Dh is sick. We think it's the flu. He's tested negative for covid. Sore throat, chills, etc. He slept all day Monday. He went into work today. He just had to get one crew started and then he's hiding in his office, away from everyone.

We've named the one-eyed cat Winky. He's now in the house. At night he sleeps on dh's lap while we're watching TV. Sometimes sleeps at the foot of the bed or on a box in the room. The shelter said he was feral and he'd never be a pet. He yowls every once in awhile. I think he's scared and because he can't see, that's his way of protecting himself. He's not hissing at me as much when I walk by and even let me pet him a couple of times. There's another cat outside that we'd love to have. It's black and white and beautiful. I'm becoming a crazy cat lady.

Mom is whining again. She wants to go to the eye doctor. She won't stop touching her eye and I'm sure she's scratched it with her nails. She says the eye doctor is open late. It's not. She says she has a card with the hours. That was probably pre-covid. Everything has changed since then. I tried to change her heart appointment and they have no Tuesday or Thursday through the end of April. We may still try to make the current appointment. I think it's a waste of time. They want her to get the catheter out, but she's afraid something will go wrong with the arm and then she won't have a back up. We told her to wait until after the 1st of the year.

We have leftover pizza and vegetable soup for dinner.

I agree with Martha, using comet in tubs and lots of elbow grease usually works well.

Martha and Jetts, I hope both of you stay well and don’t catch what your husbands have. Jetts, that is so kind of you to take Winky in. He probably would have a hard time making it on his own with only sight in one eye.

Kroger has sweet potatoes on sale for 19 cents a lb. this week. I already have it on my list. Yesterday I picked up the fearful puppy. She was dropped off by a crackhead, in a taped up box. She was panicking at the shelter but once she came home with me she was fine. The shelter environment was just too much for her. She is great with my dogs and cats. Very calm for a 9 month old puppy. After I got her home and settled I went and got my hair cut. I let it grow out during the pandemic and I was just tired of long hair that I wore up in a clip everyday. Not real thrilled with the haircut but I do love how shorter hair feels and hair grows. I will tweak it some at my next hair appointment.

Today was my day off, it started at the Dermatologist for my 6 month skin check. I was really worried this time but I got another clean check. Then I went to Salvation Army to finally drop off the donations in my back seat that have been there for weeks. Not a mobile hoarder anymore! Went inside but didn’t see anything I liked. Picked up some wood stove paint and paint swatches for the bedroom at Home Depot. I had a little time so stopped in at At Home. Boy, next time I go there I will have to pack a lunch, so much to look at. Then off to Costco for an eye appointment. Eye Dr. said not much change so no need for a new prescription. I did find out I have dry eye though so have to pick up some eye drops. He did give me a sample. Picked up a few things I needed there. My final stop was Meijer to pick up a car headlight bulb. I noticed one of mine was burned out yesterday. LO pork loin tonight.

Good morning, it's cold and windy here. Worked on the grout yesterday, I think about 2/3 done. Used up 1 bottle of SoftScrub and started the 2nd bottle (old). I see there is a gel formula now. I definitely want to finish this project over the weekend, looks so much better already. (cleaned bottom left, uncleaned top right) I'm sure I will think of more cleaning projects after that. Hubby bought steaks at the grocery store, I guess that is supper. Potatoes to be used up also. I hope everyone is well.

Cold and grey here but looks like it might warm a bit. I bought 2 pair of jeans last week without trying them on (reasons) and one doesn't fit so it's going back. Also have some Kohl's cash to use, since it expires today.

Need to get a couple grocery items, trying to avoid the big spend partly because the fridge is already full, and partly because even the sale prices aren't that good.

Dlr, the floor looks good. I really like Softscrub with bleach for that purpose.

Rabbit, glad the skin check came back clean. Sounds like you will enjoy working with the new puppy much more.

I need to schedule an eye exam myself.

Wasn't impressed with the turkey ravioli, it was ok and DH liked it, but I won't buy it again. Too much pasta and not great flavor. Dinner tonight is wonton soup with vegetables and spring rolls.

28 degrees out this morning and I think I’ve been out with the puppy 5 times already. 😩 She woke me up at 4:00 to go out and since it was too close to the time we get up (5:00) I never did fall back asleep. We had ice/snow overnight and dh called me this morning to tell me roads are ice covered. He could only go 15-20 miles an hour on the freeway. I will start an hour later today to give the salt trucks a chance to get out. This will screw up my whole day……..I HATE winter.

Finished cleaning the floor grout this morning. There are a few grout lines left that need extra attention, maybe bleach spray - next week. Putting a throw rug in the laundry tub to soak. Other spot cleaning as I notice things to be done. Still cold outside so not looking forward to raking and bagging leaves. All the wind blew more leaves into the front yard of course. Have to take hubby to the airport early tomorrow. Leftovers for supper. I hope everyone has a restful weekend.

19F this morning. We have sun, but it's not helping. Sorry about the miserable weather in your area Rabbit. I heard last night that parts up north and around the great lakes are getting several feet of snow this weekend. We're supposed to shift back to our normal 40-50* weather next week.

Dlr, the leaves are the same here. If DH rakes the wind just blows the neighbor's leaves into our yard.

The cat goes for her allergy shot this afternoon. I need to stop at Aldi, too. Feels like all I've been doing this week is buying food, and not even for Thanksgiving.

Making chicken and cheese enchiladas for dinner. Will use up some slightly stale tortillas and some of that pulled chicken I got during the summer.
