This week that store is advertising a different brand of corned beef brisket for 3.99.
Different store has point cut for 2.98, flat cut for 4.98.
Aldi still has flat cut for 3.99.

Got my corned beef, chose the biggest one. $1.67/lb Safeway brand point cut with digital coupon but limit 1. Also got potatoes and brussels sprouts since hubby won't eat cabbage. Hubby is not a fan but agreed for me to cook it tomorrow in the crock pot. I shopped Safeway years ago but it had gotten run down. It appeared nicer and cleaner today.

I made chicken cordon bleu soup / chowder in the crockpot yesterday. There’s enough left for us to have at least tonight and tomorrow. We leave for six days on Thursday so for Tuesday and Wednesday we will just have grilled cheese or scrambled eggs etc. So not a very concrete meal plan for this week but I just want to make sure the fridge is cleared before we leave.

Mite- I look up your meal names and am curious about the schupfnudel with baked apple and cinnamon...The nudel is a mashed potato/egg/flour mixture that's fried....How is the apple incorporated? Is the apple on the side or part of the mixture? I'm thinking if the mixture is potato/applesauce/flour/egg and fried...Topped with cinnamon/yogurt or cinnamon/soft cheese......Hmmmm

DH won't eat quiche due to the "real men..." comment as well...I made a frittata and he still refused.
This week's menu is:

Something with lentils ( I have never bought them before or cooked them) Suggestions?
Lentils are good in soup. You'll find many recipes. Let them simmer in broth until they are soft. They need salt to make them flavorful, so it's a good place to use sausage, kielbasa, andouille, ham or bacon for flavoring.

I've also used this recipe: Carrot and Red Lentil Soup
