I'm envious. Our only thrift was a disorganized mess from jump. Fot a while they put colored dots on things with a few hard to find corresponding signs with prices listed. After a while, it came out in the paper that the store was a front for a drug dealing operation and was shut down. Some of the owners went to prison, and the store reopened. Management was even worse. No pricing at all, so people got charged whatever the clerks felt like charging. Stuff just piled everywhere. Never a sale to move out excess inventory and draw in customers. All the owners had worked there when it was a GW, so should have learned some things about how to run a thrift. That place should have been a gold mine in a town where there's no big box retail stores to compete with, and most people don't mind secondhand shopping. Crazy. Now the place is closed again, and people keep piling donations outside their doors. I'm surprised the city puts up with it. It's depressing because this town desperately needs a good thrift store.

Meanwhile, we're planning a 220 mile round trip to Grand Rapids to the four secondhand places there including ReStore, plus a couple in Hibbing on the way. Desperate times call for desperate measures. We're looking for kitchen cabinets to use in the laundry room, baths, and pantry, and hoping we can find something at ReStore. 🤞🤞🤞🤞

We have a place like that near here, not affiliated with HFH but a similar organization. Bottom floor is like a regular TS, but up on the balcony, they have all kinds of building supplies, down to nuts and bolts. Very handy when you just need one or two of something that is normally found in bulk.

I would love that, Jo!

I finally got to the GW in Hibbing. I think it's been 4 yrs. They had a good selection of fabric so I added to the quilt stash. No pics yet. Everything is buried in the van behind the 5 cabinets we bought for our kitchen island. I'll try to take some pics when we unload in a day or 2. I got a large piece of moose print fleece to use as a combo quilt batting and backing, plus a smaller matching piece, $13 for the 2. Also several smaller pieces of quilt fabrics but can't recall exactly what. Also 2 hermetic jars I had on my thrift store BOLO list. Can't remember anything else. It was an exhausting day with many decisions to be made. The thrifts were the least of it and so not very memorable.

Luckily, there was no secondhand furniture we wanted, so we were able to get the cabinets in the van without any trouble.

Show and tell on the fabrics and stuff. The top pic is moose print fleece to be used as a quilt backing/batting.

GW gave us the bag. They're overstocked. I'll replace the handles with webbing to make it sturdier for hauling groceries.

I needed a couple more hermetic jars. The big one is bigger than I was looking for but that will be a good thing, and the small one is smaller than I wanted but I couldnt resist the paw prints. I think I paid $2 each.

The white fabric is like linen and will be used to line pieced curtains for our new kitchen. The rest is smaller pieces to add to quilt stash.

Why does this weird stuff happen to me? We went to a garage sale, the repeat of last week's sale. I just bought a small Worx 5" circular saw on a closeout at Menards THURSDAY. I got a good price, but I settled. For at least 20 yrs I've wanted the far more expensive DeWalt version, but could never justify the expense. So today, what do I find at the sale? This little gem. And then I had a dilemma. The saw of my dreams, marked $50, or the little Worx for slightly less? Return the Worx? Forget the DeWalt? Keep them both?Gaaahhh!

The dilemma completely disappeared when the people having the sale pointed out everything was ½ price. Excuse me, what? ½ price. Saw excluded, right? No, saw included, ½ price, $25. I'LL TAKE IT! I'm still all, like, wow. Husby wants to keep the Worx. I'm okay with that because I know there will be times it will speed things up if we both can slice and dice. So we went from no small saws to 2, both more or less by accident. Oh, and the guy was trying to bag up the saw and parts in plastic grocery bags, which wasn't working. There was a bag next to me marked .25, and it looked like about the right size, so I said I would buy that just to take it home in. They threw it in with the deal, which was nice. When I got it to the house and could pack it correctly and get the other stuff out of the bag, I found it's a nice fit for the saw and accessories, so I don't have to make or find one now. Perfect! Weird stuff though. My baby DeWalt. ❤❤🙂

That wasn't the only bargain. I got 3 pairs of curtains that look new for .50/pair.

And all this:

The red leather purse was in the free box, I think because it needs a minor repair. Husby is trying to decide if he wants to use it. 4 rolls of wallpaper border, $2. Yes, I know it's not in style, but it's pine needles and pine cones so might come in handy for something crafty. 3 rolls of wallpaper for nice shelf liner in the basement cabinets and elsewhere, .50 each. 2 paint roller spatter shields, .25 each. I was going to buy some Thursday when we got other paint supplies, but I forgot. The little pile of hardware, .25 including the PVC pipe cap. The hardware will probably come in handy sometime, but I realy bought it because of the cap. I think it's the right size for Storm's fire hydrant pee post. Menards wants $4 for a cap, and .25 for the cap and all the hardware looks much nicer in comparison. Storm won't care that the cap is drilled full of holes and neither will we.

I do love a good sale.

Inherited some nice clear glass dishes (Italian maker) from MIL. Missing 1 dinner plate and 2 soup bowls in order to have a set of 4. Found set of 4 soup bowls on eBay for a price I was willing to pay and ordered them (had $10 on a GC which helped.) The dinner plate however is expensive. Maybe I will put it on a wish list or a watch list.
