Bacon, potato and cheese soup.

1 can evaporated milk $ .67
1 can condensed cream of chicken $ .89
1/4lb bacon $ .75
1 cup cheese grated $1
garlic powder and pepper $ .50 if even that
4-6 potatoes $1

total $4.81

feeds about 6

cube potatoes like making potatoe salad, boil untill they are don't but not falling apart. drain.
fry bacon untill crisp, crumble and don't drain grease
add all ingredients, mix well with large spoon or ladel, return to heat and cook stirring regularly over medium untill it has thickened like a chowder.

takes just like a soup they serve at outback steakhouse, but you feed a family of six for less than it costs for a cup.

to feed more people on a tight budget you can add corn, green beans, onions, celery....

Trying to break myself of the eating out for lunch and breakfast habit. In addition to leftovers for lunch, I'll go to the local grocery store that cooks your fish for free. I'll get a pound or so of whatever is on sale (call this $7 conservative overestimate) and also a thing of pre-made mashed taters for $2.50. Split each into three even portions and I have lunch for three days for $10 or less total.

The Dutch Oven Beef Roast with Onions, looks delicious I think I'll make it in the Crockpot, add some fresh mushrooms and serve it over egg noodles mixed with cream of mushroom soup and sour cream. Like beef stroganoff.
