I just purchased a #8 cast iron skillet from ebay for $15.00. It is new old stock. It has an outside heat ring and a number 8 inside a diamond at the bottom of the skillet, with an E off to the side. I read on the internet that because the heat ring is on the outer edge of the bottom it was made before 1905. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks, Nick63

If the piece does not have a gate mark on the bottom (straight raised line), then I'm not sure it would have been made before 1905. But I'm no expert.
