I found painted white bookcases that are 7 feet tall by 4 feet wide and for only $5 each! There was a used book store going out of business and selling everything, even the shelves.

I was SO excited because these were exactly what I wanted to build in my basement for a pantry.

I bought 3, put one in my daughter's room and the other 2 in my basement for my "new" pantry! Now I can actually SEE all my canned goods and pantry items and the shelves are only 10 inches deep so they aren't taking up a lot of space.

It was both a blessing and a surprise!

The pantry shelves are now full. I had a small cabinet that I used to hold all my canned and dry items but was able to empty that out. The space that I put the pantry shelves was occupied by an old kitchen cabinet and drawers that was taking way too much room up and not a good use of the space. I gave the kitchen cabinet to my sister who has a bigger basement and will make good use of it.

My dd has already half filled her shelves, too. I'm going to have to go into her room and help her with that.
