I got a coupon mailer today from Proctor and Gamble (Tide, Charmin, Bounty, Crest, etc.) and EVERY coupon in the mailer, and there were quite a few, had a LIMIT on it.

The printed statement was "limit of 4 like coupons in same shopping trip".........right at the top of the printed part and in red!

They must have caught on to the stock pile system!

I am guessing from the way the name came that they bought an address list.........but still........

I only saved one of them anyway..........just thought I would warn the heavy duty coupon users.

The P&G coupons just started doing this as of the 10/10/10 P&G insert in the Sunday newspapers. I've rarely every buy more than 4 of anything at a time...and I only get 2 copies of each insert per week so it doesn't really bug me. I know a lot of people on another site that are pretty miffed about it though lol. At least it's 4 and not 1, that's for sure. So far RedPlum and SmartSource haven't followed suit.

That is what I do with our 'limits' on sales........almost all our 'good price' sales will have limits now. The stores are getting really chintzy!

Bummer...I guess it just means multiple trips if the deals are really good, but for those, like me, who live in the 'boonies', making more than one trip is not always feasible, when the store is 20+ minutes away. Thanks for the heads up though, I haven't bought coupons in a bit....

I wouldn't make multiple trips if I were you. I'd just do multiple transactions. Since it's just P&G right now, most of their stuff is non-perishable type goods, so it wouldn't be hard to do. If SmartSource & RedPlum change their ways, it might make it more difficult with the frozen/refrigerated stuff but I think it'd still be doable.

I never shop alone, always with DH. If a store has a limit or if a coupon has a limit, then he and I each do transactions. Also, the kids go with us a lot as well. If it is a really good deal, they each do a transaction. Fortunately for us, we also live within 5 a mile radius of 4 Publix, 4 Winn-Dixies, 5 Super Wal-Marts, 4 CVS, 3 Walgreens and 2 Rite-Aids.

That's the policy at the ShopRite where I shop. I think more and more stores are adopting this as a policy, so I guess the next logical step is for the coupon manufacturers to do the same, although, I thought they made money off of the coupons, so I'm not sure of their logic.

Sorry, but that is a ridiculously unenforceable limit. They have no way of knowing if I did multiple transactions back to back, or if I bought 4 items, took them to my car, and then went back in and bought another 4, or if I actually went home between "trips" through the checkout lane.

Now, if they want to limit to 4 like coupons per transaction, that's enforceable.

But if it's actually written as limit four like coupons per trip? Idiotic.

I thought it was a little 'strange' the way it was written too.......but...........nope.............says "limit of 4 like coupons in same shopping trip".............

Wonder what lawyer thought THAT ONE up???

Will be really interesting to see how this all shakes out.....if others follow, etc.

I'm guessing this is because of those who insist on abusing the system and ruin it for those of us who use coupons the right way...legally. Too many use coupons to wipe out the shelves, then take the items home only to have a yard sale and make a profit from the items they just bought for next to nothing. That is what is called Fraud. Just be smart and do more than one transaction if you really need to use more than 4 coupons.
