If you could have picked your own name, what would it be?

For me, I don't really have a name in mind, but it would be something easy to pronounce and easy to spell. I have spent my whole life correcting the spelling and pronunciation of my name! :fuming: It was worse when I was in school, I was the only Danielle all through school. Now it's a common name.

I have some issues about my name..lol

What would YOUR name be?

Well as one half of a set of twins, I have been called by everything else but my name for about 1/3 of my life...lol Laura is my twin and though you all know me by Graci, my real name is Lorrie. The other 2/3's of my life has been spent telling people it's L O double R I E not Lori....hehehe

Up until I was 9 yrs old, I couldn't figure out whether I was "Hey" or "Girls"...ROFLMAO...which is what my Dad always said when he needed one of use but couldn't tell which was which...ROFLMAO

I like my name, and I like the way it is spelled, because it is different...but I know what you mean about having to correct people...I always get Jane instead of Jayne, and people have pronounced my name "JAN":bang:

I alway wanted something cool like Srar or Princess ah I'm glad my paents wouldn't let me change it like I had wanted. theyremind me of porn star names now. LOL The wants and desires of a seven year old! LOL

I don't dislike my name but I wish it was Kathryn or Kathleen instead of plain old Kathy. I would like the longer more mature versions now that I am older. My Mom just named me plain Kathy though.

I do still like all the names I named my kids though, Travis, Tyler and Sierra.

I like my name now and I get a lot of compliments on it. But when I was younger I had a million nicknames and nobody ever knew how to spell it!! It would drive me crazy. Or they would add letters to my name....here is what they would do...

Correct spelling...Daphne
Here are some examples of the way I have seen my name spelled....it was a nightmare for me!!
Daphine
Daphane
Daphney
Daffney
Daffaney
the list goes on and on!!!!
It's such a simple name to spell and I never could figure out why people had such a hard time spelling it!!!!!

I hated my name growing up, so I refused to answer to it after I turned 16. Everyone I was friends with call me by the name I went by at that time. Even my kids use that name. My husband doesn't call me by my true or nickname. He calls me Francis (after St. Francis) because he comes home to a house of kids (some aren't ours, but from the neighborhood) or animals (for a while, it seemed folks were dumping animals off in our yard every week in hopes we would keep them or find them homes - DH says it is because they thought we wouldn't notice a new mouth or two to feed:surprise:

i'd probably want just plain old jane since that is easier to grasp for most people. my 8th greg science teach never said my name right even after i told him how to say it more time than i could count and after the two guys that sat in front of me yelled in unison" Her Name is JANIE!" lol
i noticed that after the aerosmith song came out, more people started naming their little girls janie.

Well Danielle, I absolutely LOVE your name! That is my oldest daughter's name! I dont know what else i would call myself now, but I like it spelled Robyn rather than Robin. I had a hard time when I was a kid with Batman and Robin and then the song Rockin Robin, but now I am Robin and happy to be that way. The name I love the most is my youngest son's name tho~ "Shane". Very manly I think!

I like my name just fine- although I use my middle name (Denise). I LOVE my first name, but like so many others- no one spells or pronounces it right. It's also my mom's name, which is why I use my middle name.

Oh! My first name is Neoma- Native American for sunshine ;) I usually get called Naomi like from the Bible or NORMA!

If I could change my name I would want to change it to the Spanish form of my name since My Husband calls me that now and when I was growing up my parents and some friends would call me by that name. The English form is Carla but In Spanish it is Carlita.
Or I would have wanted to change my name to Clara( My Great Aunt's Name was that and I always loved that name as well as the name Mildred.)
