Well here we are already in the middle of April. Wow time sure has flown this year down on the homestead.

Today, I plan on doing absolutely nothing. I want it to be a day of rest.

Tonight, we go to hear the Treadways from Pioneer Quest and I'm really looking forward to that.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day, down on the homestead.

Well I put my report on the wrong week so here it is again!
Well today will be kind of quiet. I have a massive sinus pain in my head (my dr says there is no such thing as a sinus headache) and my throat is scratchy.
I do need to do a load of laundry. I also have some tomato and watermelon plants that need to go in the ground. I want to do it tonight but it may wait until tomorrow.
Yesterday we went to a city wide garage sale. There were some interesting things. DH got a laser printer for $10
And he got ds a game he loves but had scratched his cd of.
He bought me a dish towel angel that is just perfect for my kitchen!
I got the stenciling in the kitchen done Friday, I need to finish straightening it up so ds can take a pic so I can show you all.

After I dropped dh off to get some sleep yesterday, ds and I went to lowes, on the way I found a yard sale, I got some old cookie cutters, another dish rag angel, she is not in good shape so will be dismantled for use, a shelf unit, a corner wall shelf and a fry baby deep fryer, all for $10.
Then I went to lowes and hit the jackpot! I got 4 rose bushes and 1 hydrangea for $1.25!!!!! they were on clearance cuz the plant guys thought they were dead! The roses all have new growth!!! Plus I made both sons a house key and got some batteries for ds's digi cam. Its so cute, its a key chain cam!
Then at wally I finally found some 6 packs of tomatos and watermelon.
I had a lot of fun yesterday, which is probably why my allergies are attacking me so hard today!
Oh! Plus dh upgraded my pc, I have more ram and a faster, bigger hard drive and a better power supply!
Hope you all enjoy your Sunday!

Well because of homework, the homestead is looking a little raggedy. I read a poem once and can't recite it. It was something that the kids brought home from school on Mother's Day or something about housework waiting until you have time. I should have never read that poem, because it has been the death of me. Really, I think about it every time I have too much to do, and I choose the other thing. I'm about to do that again.

So much needs to be done around here. I havent gotten spring fever yet so as far as spring cleaning I havent:( Don't know how to manage my time lately.

Gonna watch the Frankenstein movie and see if I can become sympathetic to the monster. Whew, the things I get my self into:toothy:

Ds#1 is leaving to go and work with his English paper, boy what a dedicated teacher to be there on a SUnday. One can only hope for me.

The night job still hasn't started yet, in a way I secretly hope it never does, I don't want to give up my weekends, but I will do anything to feel better about the $$ situation. (just about anything work wise that is ;) )

Have a good day girls, hope thing down on your homesteads are great.

Well I changed my mind - got a bit busy and as a family, we got lots done. We needed to get our yard raked (which is quite large), so the whole family helped out. It helps we have a great lawnmower where we can catch the leaves in. So that is all done.

I uncovered the strawberries and they've all survived. Not sure about the raspberry bushes though, they look pretty pathetic.

I mixed up the hummingbird mix and put out the hummingbird feeders. I have to purchase some of the Oriole mix, otherwise they'll drink the hummingbird mix. Will get some of that this weekend.

Dh took the mats off the driveway that had bird seed on and swept that all up.

Now I'm off to do some reading and I might even take a nap this afternoon.

This morning Delaney and I went to church. Kody stayed and helped DH work on his truck (big one), he has to leave soon. We came home, had lunch and went for a Sunday afternoon drive around the countryside, it was so nice to see people out in their yards! When we got home I filled up the birdfeeders, brushed the dog outside and put in a load of laundry. This sunshine sure is making me feel better!! Love it!!:sun:

Hope you are all having a great day!!

Hi everyone!

I did alot this morning! Washed the dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and mopped its floor... Scrubbed the bathroom sink/toilet/tub and mopped its floor, also washed the rug and tub mat... cleaned and vacuumed the living and dining rooms.
I also cleaned up Tyler's new potty (handed down from his aunt) and got it all ready to go... we'll see how it goes, I'm not sure he's ready yet. I think we'll just have fun with it at first and see if he catches on.
I got a couple loads of laundry done, and have a couple more to do. I may finish it tomorrow... or the next day. ;) LOL

We had so much fun this morning with Tyler... Dave was hiding change all over the house and Tyler was finding it and putting it in his bunny bank Dave's parents got him for Easter. He was so cute looking under things for money. He learned how to say money too. ;) He played forever at that with us. And now his bank is full! I will take him to the store tomorrow to buy a treat.

Dave went to Minneapolis for a couple of days fishing. The crappies are biting on Lake Minnetonka. :) I hope he gets alot of them... I would love some fishies. Mmmm!
He's also going to try to get his dad out fishing while its nice... he's not doing real well health-wise.

Its supposed to warm up to 77 here tomorrow! Wow! I can't wait! Tyler and I will get out for a walk and some playing. :)
We got his sandbox filled yesterday, and he loves to play in it.

This week I have LOTS to get done. Mother has promised she is coming for a visit. I am redoing an old dresser painted it white, and am adding some Ivy stencil to it. I plan on doing a Topiary on the sides. I also am making blinds using picket fencing for them. I started on a faux quilt for her room. It's not really a quilt just some material sewn together on top of an old blanket and a sheet attached to the back.
The colors in this "new garde" room are soft pink, soft yellow and green (mom's fav).
DH is making everything for her room, table, bed,TV shelf. I know it will be pretty when I'm done.

I have so many things to do around here just to finish up. That I'll be pretty busy all week just on crafting.

Mel, I agree with grneyegrl, last year I ended up having to have a CAT scan because my headaches were SO bad and they couldn't figure out what it was....it was sinus' in my head totally blocked!! I took medication to let it drain and still take a "dristan" type spray (prescribed though) when I feel the symptons coming back. I would definitely see someone else about this!:smball:

Dave has no sinuses now due to an ongoing (untreated) sinus infection... they had to surgically remove them. I forget the techical term for the surgery. I'll ask him when I talk to him. He has to be very careful not to get hit in the nose or anything... the cartilege there is gone as well. His nose is funny... its real rubbery. Weird.

Thanks for the concern my friends! The dr did an mri and it showed no blockages or anything. The sinus pain hits mainly behind my left (weak) eye.
I may just begin drinking soda again, it helps more than these allegra he gave me are at this point.

May I join you? This is my favourite thread; I always come here first to catch up on all you ladies are accomplishing. I thought it's about time I contribute something. :)

We woke up to snow this morning again. :ugh: I want spring!
After getting the dks going on their school work I've gotten two loads of laundry done. I think I have just one more load to go. :) I've cooked up a big pot of stewed rhubarb and I fill my dehydrator will pineapple rings and one tray of pear sauce for fruit leather. My crockpot is simmering with a wonderful moose roast for supper tonight.

This afternoon I'm hoping to make a batch of blackberry jam. I'm running very low on jam so I figured I better use up some of my frozen fruit. I need to return some phone calls, maybe fit vacuming in and then I hope to relax and read.

Hope everyone is having a great day down on their homesteads.

Welcome Strawberry! the more the merrier!
Well my day has taken a detour! DH had to look at Chris's pc cuz he said it had a virus. He ended up having to wipe the hd and start over! So while he was doing that, mom was busy cleaning out the closet and getting all the packed boxes unpacked and removed (I have a real thing about card board!)
I hung ds's pic and dusted his furniture. We also reconnected hs tv, he had moved it and couldnt get it working. Now its working.
Then mom went on to the oldests room and did the same thing!
Now maybe I will get the kitchen done! Plus I have been doing laundry at the same time.

So glad to have to aboard the homesteading thread Strawberry!! Heh, before I forget, what to you think of those curlers and our No. 1 golfer, Mike Weir!!! What a weekend.

Today is a sorta crazy day here. I forgot I had to bake bread, so my bread will be finished late this afternoon. I ground up some grain and mixed it all up about 1/2 hour ago.

I walked to get the mail this morning and a friend told me she knew someone who was selling her quilting frame. So over we go for a small walk, while the kids are doing their school here, only to learn the lady will lend it to me, but its not for sale. But I did get to meet a wonderful older lady from our small town.

The best news though, I got to personally meet Tim and Deanna Treadway from Pioneer Quest last night and what a thrill. First they talked about their time as homesteaders for a year and they incorporated their strong faith throughout!! It was wonderful to hear them and to laugh at some of Tim's antics. Then they showed a 20 minute video and then fielded a few questions. After that, we could personally meet them. Dd wore her pioneer dress and bonnet and Deanna was thrilled she was dressed like that. It was just so cool!!!! It really encouraged me in my homesteading dreams and in my faith!!

Thats about it, down on the homestead for today.

Oh, oh I forgot, I did find a place where I can order a quilting frame. Mary Maxim has one and if you go to their Canadian site, you can see the frame. http://www.marymaxim.com/Default.asp My mom is sending me money for my birthday so I just may order this one. It would be perfect for my living room.

Calico - it was indeed a special treat to have met the Treadways. Their strong belief in God really shone through and thats what I want my life to be.

Today I woke up to a very dull and cool day, with the high only getting to +10C. There is a very cold wind also.

I did my daily walk to the post office and received a birthday check from my mom which has promptly gone into our van account. I do plan on getting the quilting frame, but I'm going to use other money for that.

Yesterday I baked bread and I forgot it was rising. It rose very high and when I put it in the oven, of course it fell. The loaves are quite unique and I was thinking today as I cut a slice, that I really should make it a trademark!! :toothy: I'd need to find a name for it. How about "The village made me do it". If I hadn't been on the forums, I wouldn't have forgotten the bread.

I read late into the night a fiction book written when they used cookstoves, etc. It was so funny to see how the woman of the house tried to keep those stoves going. She burnt the bacon and threw the flapjacks out a number of times. Hmmmmm wonder if I'm related!!!

Sherry, I know you'll be reading this. We also got a kitten yesterday, but its only 1 week old and not ready to come home yet. Dd has been wanting one forever (we have 1 cat already) so when I went to see about a quilting frame yesterday, the elderly lady asked me if I was interested in a kitten. So in about 5 weeks, will have another animal on the homestead.

Not much doing today - will do my bike this afternoon and take my walk tonight if it doesn't get any colder. Hope everyone is having a great day "down on the homestead".

Just got back from picking up Dylan at my Mom and Dad's, lots of driving, just drove there and back because I had to be back by 4 p.m. Dylan had a wonderful time, my Mom and Dad were so happy to have him. As always I came home with so many goodies!! Mom sent a cooler full of ground beef, steaks and a roast, a couple of books, magazines, and new shorts and t-shirts for the kids! We are spoiled!

Have a headache from all the driving so early to bed tonight! Oh it was 85 degrees here today and sunny, couldn't believe it!! BUT tomorrow it is to go down to freezing and we are to get freezing rain!! Oh my!!

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies :)

CJ - I don't follow a whole lot of sports but I did happen to watch a bit of golf. It was a pretty exciting weekend for Canadian's.

Well today didn't turn out like it was suppose to. Dh was home sick today and needed lots of attention  It seemed like he needed something every half hour. Today we had another homeschool family join us in doing school work. It make for a very interesting but fun few hours. Then dd asked if the two girls could stay for the afternoon and mid-afternoon they wanted me to drive them to the mall. Dinner ended up being pancakes and I drove the friends home and dropped my two dks off for first-aid practice. I'm home for another hour and then I need to pick them up. When I get home I'm going to relax and read a book. Hopefully I can get to bed early.

Oh, I did get two loaves of whole wheat bread made. Maybe tomorrow I'll get more work done down on my little homestead.

I hope everyone had a great day!

Well today my allergies struck with a vengence!
I did manage to get the morning glory and holly hock seeds planted.
I watered the area where the maters and melons will go, the ground was just way too hard to dig up today. Hopfully the water will soak in so I can get those plants in tomorrow.
Now off to take sinus pills and try to breath wel enough to sleep!

Well it truly has been a lazy week down on this homestead. I didn't do a whole yesterday, other than the dishes and read. Today looks like it is going to be a very simple type day too, guess my whole week will be.

I need to get the dishes done, then I'm going to read for a bit. Its too cool outside to do anything outside, in fact they are predicting 15 cm. of snow. UGh!!!

I think I might do a bit of quilting this afternoon, but I've even taken a break from that. I've changed my eating habits and my body is really adjusting to it, so I'm not going to push myself at all this week.

Hope everyone is having a great day, down on the homestead.
