I was invited to a Party Lite Party this evening and wanted to purchase some scented tea lights to accompany the numerous unscented ones we use (we go through a lot of them in the fall and winter).

What is your scent of choice and what tends to tickle your fancy?

Its a public poll and you can vote for more than one.

I just love the sweeter scents, it gives me the feel of 'hominess' and comfort.

Love Party Lite candles - their scents are great. I voted for Environmental, Fruit & Unscented. My gf ran out of unscented for the dinner table one holiday and used baked good smelling ones (pie?) and the cinnamon was overpowering, kinda put me off from wanting to eat dinner :( I think my fave was the melon one.

Just a tip - use unscented for the dinner table :)

I have a candle tree that holds more than a dozen tea lights or votives. I can only use one scented one in the tree so it doesn't over power the entire room. It is beautiful though when all of the candles are the same color though. lol

It depends on what time of year it is. In the fall/winter DH likes for the house to smell like cinnamon and apples but in the spring/summer he prefers fresh linen, cotton or an ocean scent.

I always get jar candles because of kitties.
I like vanilla, spices, strawberry and cinnamons. Pine/evergreen dscents are NOT my fav. I just burn candles occasionally but I like this thread idea.

Libby-market the 1 that makes you lose your appetite. I would like 47.

I like the natural scents, fruit, flowers, woodland stuff. I used to get Partylite votives, but haven't in a long time and I don't recognize any of their current scents.

You can make coffee scented candles with old coffee grounds. Try googling for it. If you can't find instructions, let me know...I've got some here, somewhere?

Judi

P.S. I voted for unscented as I'm scent sensitive. I used to love scented bath bombs, candles, etc. but they make me sneeze and my nose go nuts these days!

I think Yankee Candle made one a while back. Kinda like a sweet sugary coffee scent...I can't quite remember though so please don't quote me.

Its cinnamon in general...I love the smell of it but in a candle form its too strong for me and actually turns me off from wanting to eat. Especially when you have a nice healthy serving of a turkey dinner in front of you :( I think the candle makers need to make a 'hint o cinnamon' scent and keep it subtle, very subtle.

I try to stay away from food scents. I often will move a candle from the kitchen to the bathroom, etc. I find that the food scents just don't suit the bathroom, kwim? I so use earthy scents like cotton and flowers with some fresh kicks like lemongrass or herbs (which I know are food, but they aren't sweet).

LOL! They sure do MM! Cindy Crawford has, or at least had, a line of soy candles that were sold in Walgreens. Vanilla cappaccino was just one of her several coffee scents. I loved it, and so did my hubby who usually is turned off by alot of scents.

Theresa :)

oops, i see i posted too soon. didn't see your question was already answered.

I voted for Desserts before I saw I could vote for more than one. I would have also chosen Environmental to go along with that. I like "warm" scents in cool weather -- apple cinnamon, sandalwood, pumpkin pie, vanilla and brown sugar. In warm weather, I like lighter scents -- florals, ocean scent, etc. I don't burn a lot of candles because of the cats and also because I will forget about them! I prefer effusion oil lamps and make my own scents for them - much cheaper.

I bought a dozen each of French Vanilla and Champagne Pear. The Pear is mix of floral and sweet and I'm not 100% sure I'll like it. But many of the scents just were not my style. I do like their winter selection of woodsy pine fragrances though.

I usually light a candle in the kitchen and bathroom downstairs when it gets dark out and watch TV until Im about to fall asleep! (This is how I de-stress from hubby working 12+ hr days 6x week and having a 5 yo very energetic little boy! lol) My favorite candle is a big jar candle I bought when my son was about 6 mos old at CVS its "Mocha" by Candle-Lite. I burn it every now then, trying to get it to last as long as possible because it smells soooooo good and brings back memories of my "baby"! :D I also like floral, citrus, vanilla-y, or sandalwood. Also, quite a few years ago my mom bought me a Pear scented candle from Walmart that was in a light green glass votive that also smelled SO DELICIOUS!
