I am very ashamed. I have been avoiding this forum because I haven't done a single thing to get me towards my goal of weight loss. I posted in my siggy the amount i hope to lose, the amount I am DETREMINED to lose. It seems like alot when i see it in print. But I have gained incredible amounts since my pregnancies and after them as well. My first step is a baby step...posting the amount. I want to lose 65-70 lbs or so. that would put me at the weight i was when i felt the best health wise. I am not thinking i will lose all this weight this year, i imagine it will take longer. but being on the road to weighloss would help alot. :D

Baby steps is a great place to start! You can do this. :hug2:

Have you ever tried keeping a food journal? It really helps you realize what you are eating all day. I was amazed when I did.

Awww Melissa :hug2:

I avoided this the other day too and I got to the point where I was telling MYSELF - 'ah well do I really want these goals anyway?' Some days are like that.

I know I'm not fit to talk about weight loss, even though I'm probably the grand master at it LOL (not healthily of course but who mentioned that? ;) )

But try and do what I believe C.J. does (forgive me if I'm wrong, but it's still a good idea)

Don't think you have to lose 75lbs but that you are going to lose ONE lb this week, and keep on keeping on, one day at a time from there.

Doesn't seem so awful eh? - Good Luck Melissa.

YOU CAN DO THIS! :hug2:

Melissa,
Just take it one day at a time and plan each week to cut out one bad for you thing. Try to not think of the big numbers but just concentrate on what you can do today or this week. Here's a :hug2: to remind you how special you are.

I am trying to get over the hump here, and then WE will do this together and celebrate little victories and share in the tough times okay? Set a date and we will do something together like a team how is that? Pm me if you want to. dont stress and especially, dont be ashamed of who you are, I love you the way you are.

Melissa, you know me and baby steps. I set my goal at 50 lbs. (although I have lots more to lose) for this year, which makes it like Bev said, about 1 - 1 1/2 lbs. each week. Doesn't seem so hard that way and if you lose more, all the better.

You can also take that 75 lbs. and break it down a 10% goal. That would be 7.5 lbs. you need to lose. Set a date for that. Don't make it unrealistic. My family physician said the healthiest way to lose weight is no more than 2 lbs. per week, otherwise you'll put it all back on and then some and you could also end up with gall bladder problems.

I'm with Robin on don't be ashamed. Those of us who have to lose weight all struggle, its not an easy accomplishment. But doing it together with all our village buddies, will make it a lot easier than doing it by ourselves.

We can all do this. You can do this. Were here for you.

Melissa, Don't beat yourself up! It's still January! Baby steps are important. Remember the quote someone posted awhile ago saying something about how the man who moved a mountain started with moving the pebbles. (Something like that.)

I agree with everyone else. I too need a 'weight loss buddy' cuz I'm just not doing it on my own. I haven't done a thing since the first of the year to try and loose this weight. I need someone to hold me accountable for exercising, I just can't seem to make myself start. :(

Awwww Melissa- don't be ashamed. Losing weight is a real battle and there are plenty of us here who's fighting what sometimes seems like a losing one.

60 lbs is alot of weight (I know, I need to lose that myself). It didn't all come on overnight, and it won't come off that way either. I do like the idea of aiming for 10% at first. I sure as heck don't do everything "right" everyday- but what I do is set a daily goal of something I HAVE to do- even if I don't do anything else. Somedays it's to drink 64 oz water. Today it's to do my Pilates DVD (even though I have yet to do it). I've lost 4 lbs since Jan 5, so somehow it is all coming together. My point is small shanges can make a huge difference.

(((Hugs)))) to you. I know how frustrating it is.

Please, please don't beat yourself up over this. Just do like everyone is suggesting with baby steps. I'm doing that myself. Get active! Go for a walk, play tag with the kids, do pilates, drink more water and it will come off little by little. I'm struggling with my weight right now also and I'm trying not to focus on losing weight so much as getting healthy.
