DD is doing a project on Australia for school. So her presentation is on Tuesday she is supposed to bring in an authentic Australian food. So I was wondering if anyone has any recipes that I could send. It can not contain fish or shellfish because I am so anaphylaxis to fish and because it is a school it can not contain nuts.

How about Pavlova - a classic Aussie dessert?

I can't post links because I haven't reached 15 posts yet, but if you go to any of the Australian recipe sites and type Pavlova in the search engine, you'll find plenty. One from Exclusively Food .com .au is good and has lots of pictures. There are others at taste.com .au and bestrecipes. com .au

There are lots of variations of this recipe, but basically it's a sweet meringue that's crispy on the outside and with fruit and cream on the top.

Then of course there's always beer damper and kangaroo sausages, but you may not be able to get them where you live!

I just remembered a butcher I went to has Kangaroo meat but I don't think DD would go for that because of her becoming a vegetarian and how much she loves Kangaroos.
Thank you everyone I will for sure check them out I didn't even know where to start looking because everything that was coming up had fish! :tay:
I will let you all know what she decides and what I end up making for her.

So DD decided on ANZAC biscuits we used this recipe ANZAC Biscuit Recipe - Recipe for ANZAC Biscuits I ended up having to add more butter and syrup because it was not sticking together but they are really good. I printed out this recipe and went and got copies done because it tells the history of the cookie. DD is doing her project today because she was sick on Tuesday the day she was supposed to present it.

There is an Australian woman on the 'what's for dinner' thread, she's on there almost everyday. She has some interesting sounding dinner dishes she makes. Her name is Becci. She usually posts first of the day, because of the time difference. I have posted questions on there for her, and she has answered back.

VEGEMITE!!!

My DD has a friend in Australia, and for DD birthday she sent a care package with VEGEMITE in it.. We knew nothing of what it was, it was made by Kraft, so we thought it must be chocolate since everything else she sent was candy... Boy howdy did we get a rude awakening by that!!! She took it to school and had her friends sample it... Needless to say I don't think Vegemite will be making an appearance around our house any time soon.... LOLOLOL....
