This is an extremely high-demand recipe a good friend gave to me for parties. I have never taken these to a single function without bringing back an empty dish (and I usually make around 100!!) Try these once and you will be wondering why they arent sold in stores!

You will need:

- One Crushed package any brand of Oreo Cookies
(No big chunks but not into a powder)
- 1 Block of any brand cream cheese
- *2 packages of Chocolate Melts

*Melts can be found at any craft store or walmart in the cake decorating aisle. I personally use two colors one for dipping and the other for decorating. I have never attempted to use chocolate chips because the melts melt down SO well but they Might work

1. Blend the Oreo Cookies with the Cream cheese and chill for 1-2 hours
2. Roll into even sized balls and place on a waxed paper sheet.
3. Melt your chocolate melts, or chocolate chips and dip the balls into the chocolate.

The first time you do this it may seem difficult but doing it slowly you will develope a technique within 1-10 balls. I used to use a spoon to slowly coat the balls and tap off the excess chocolate but now I use a fondu' pot and a wire rack to dip in 5-8 balls at a time for a professional look. Experiment with different color chocolate melts doing different designs, swirls, waves, flowers etc for pretty effects! Have fun!!

I made these last Christmas. I used the vanilla oreos and the strawberry cream cheese in the tub. They were DELICIOUS!

Forgot to add that I dipped them in the vanilla candy coating stuff.

how big to make the balls

If this is your first time making these, I would suggest not making your balls any bigger than about a half-inch. The bigger they are they harder they are to dip and make pretty. (Unless you have a fondu' pot!)

Also try using other types of cookies and flavored cream cheese like sweetpea said, its amazing! Just...if I can make one tinsey suggestion....DONT use nutter butters (Bleh!)

Question: I was thinking of heating the melts on the stove then keeping them warm in a mini crock pot. Does anyone know if that would work. I really want to try to make these during the holidays.

These sound absolutely wondderful!!

One question - do you crush the Oreos with the cream or without the cream in the middle of the cookies?

And yes the crock pot will work. I have a fondue and chocolate making set and it's basically a mini crockpot. Melting in the microwave works well too.
