Yes my friends, it's that time.:D
I have an explosion of swiss chard in my garden. I usually just steam mine and put a little butter on it. Do you (being the Swiss Chard lover that you are) have other exciting ways that you prepare it?

Next week I shall be calling on all zucchini lovers & those who wake up to find some on their doorstep, to help one another through the tough time of overproduction.:D

mmmm, its one of my favorite veggies.

It freezes really well, and when you cut it, it just continues to grow.

Darlene, I use mine in replacement of meat for lasagna. I lay the noodles, then just lay a nice row of Swiss chard, then pour over the lasagna sauce. I do this about 3 times. Its yummie that way.

Darlene, yes I blanche all my veggies before freezing. I wait until the water is boiling, then blanche it for 1 minute ONLY. Then immediately dump in ice water until cold.

It tastes as fresh froze as it does right out of the garden if you do it this way.

I have a very interesting way...
cook the swiiss chard down, by either boiling it in a small amount of water or steaming it.

Then make a spaghetti sauce, I make mine with meat, just like I do when I make spaghetti and mix it together witht the chard acting as if it were the pasta. it is a very light meal and I love it.

An Italian lady taught me to first blanch swiss chard then sautee garlic in a little olive oil. Then add swiss chard and stir fry until soft then add a few slashes of balsamic vinegar. This is one of favorite veggies.

I have grown bright lights variety in my garden this year and it is very ornamental. The veins of the plant are a mix of red, yellow and white. Very pretty. I have them growning mixed in with my flowers and herbs.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone. Some interesting tasty sounding ideas.
May sound goofy but eating swiss chard makes me feel as though I'm eating mega vitamins, lol.

Hannah, I'm growing the Brightlights too. They are so pretty.:)
