I need some help with my stockpiling. I have prices of things I bought from Winco back in June 2010, but I have not had the opportunity to go back there again. So I was wondering if anyone could give me prices per pound on the items listed below. I can then figure if it is really worth it to drive 309 miles (one way!) to the closest Winco or if I should just buy the stuff online. Thanks for your help! (These are all bulk bin items that they had last year.)

I pm'd you a coupon board that has Winco coupons and could help you. I don't think I can put the link here. I know there are lots of blogs with Winco deals of the week as well. Hope that helps. You might be better off buying some bulk online through Azure Standard out west, if you are on their route you don't have to pay a delivery I believe you meet them at a pick up spot.

I have heard of Azure, but I doubt there are any pickup places around here.

I don't do coupons as they are for name brand stuff, and these are all bulk item foods.

Do you have the link for the winco forum, I do not see it. I do know they have a facebook page, but I did not see anywhere on the website a forum page.

Yeow...that is quite a list.

Some prices are posted on-line........but don't know how recent some of them are..........

Prices will also be different in diff. areas.........I discovered that with a friend when we were comparing.

I will check out the August list, to see how different it is to my June one. I always (when buying in bulk) have the prices in my spreadsheet. But it is now 8 months old, and I am not sure if buying online would be better than the Winco prices.

I have been looking on Bulk Food at Bulkfoods.com and their prices are pretty good, once you start buying it in 5 lb sizes. Any larger sizes and it is a little overwhelming. And after you have spent $75, it only costs $5 in shipping! So much better than paying for diesel. But right now I have no idea how much better the Winco prices are.

I will have to check the August prices against mine and see if there are any changes.

I have bought from Bulkfoods but wasn't sure about how much shipping would be for you. I also know Honeyville is supposedly well price and efficient. Your pantry items look similar to mine, I buy most of my bulk through a Co-op as I want large amounts and no sulfite's or additives to my dried fruit.

BulkFoods must be doing a special, $5 for delivery is a great deal. I can definitely spend the $75 for food. Last June I spent $314 on just one trip to Winco. But it was all to stock up for the rest of the year.

We write the dates on the cans and jars of food (to figure out what to eat first.) So I still have mayo from June, cans of oysters (what were we thinking, we rarely eat that!) cans of tuna, and a bottle of sauerkraut! But the dried fruits are almost gone, I can last probably a month more on what we have, but then we will be in Canyonlands National Park and it will be that much harder to get food, either delivered or with us going to get it.

I guess I am just trying to think and do ahead of the lean grocery time.

I have heard of Honeyville but found their prices are a little expensive - maybe will check them out again to see how they are. Must say though that Bulkfoods does have an amazing amount of different kinds of food.

Have you headed out there yet? I plan on buying some bulk foods soon, especially as the prices of diesel and gas go up, the delivery prices and food prices will go up too. The quicker I get them, the less I have to deal with later.

We did go to Costco and stocked up on some stuff, oatmeal and some dried fruits, and now we need to see if the prices bought would be comparable to the bulkfoods.com website. I think it will be lower.

sorry i haven't forgotten about you! I was expecting to have enough gas to get to winco this last week, but it looks like it will be monday before I get there. Its not that far or anything, just had to save the gas for DBF to get to work lol I'll update as soon as i get there!

WOW are the blueberries expensive or what? That is more expensive than the Costco price of $6.95 a pound!
And Costco's raisins beat the price as well at $1.55 a lb
Costco honey - is $2.00 a lb.

Too bad they do not have dried strawberries or dried apples
