I'm making split pea soup for dinner from the ham bone from xmas dinenr tonight... I thought I had 2 bags of split peas...I only have 1 but I have 2 bags of lentils...
Can I use 1 bag split peas and 1 bag lentils? Will I be able to taste a difference?

You can but yes it will taste different. How big are these bags? I use one lb of split peas when I make my soup, one ham bone and 9 c. of water + other ingredients.

My recipe is here Split Pea Soup

You can use lentils. There will be a slight taste difference but unless you are super picky it will be minimal.

Darlene- that's pretty much how I make mine also but I make a double batch every time I make it...
I'm planning on canning some of the leftovers this time...:D
Thanks for the idea of making corn bread to go with it!
