I coupon on things that we regularly use. My grocery store sends me an envelope of coupons every month and all are store brands things that we use. 1.00 off oj, cheese, eggs, chicken, water, tomatoes or something from produce, can of veg, etc. Those come in handy since we would buy anyway. They mark all sale meat with a sticker that says Extra Savings. 99% of the time we only buy meat with that sticker. I am lucky as this store also doubles coupons up to .99.

I live in apartment so no real stock up storage for us.

So my answer is yes you can save money with coupons.

Today I was at grocery store and saved almost 11.00 with coupons.

Older thread I know...

Yes you can even if you don't want to do the food. CVS, Walgreens, Target, Walmart ( even if you don't do Walmart others do ) for HBA, paper, vitamins, first aid, laundry, dish...
You can get these items from dirt cheap to free.

I do food. A couple summers ago I went heavy on the coupons and got about 1500 $ worth for about $400 give or take. After I was done I didn't have to buy much at all for quite a while. A lot they paid me to take out the door including meat, fruit, vitamins. Rest was dirt cheap.
Florida doesn't double but it's a "true BOGO" state. You can use coupons on the free one too and we have a lot of BOGO's. If you have actual coupons for BOGO and have two... example you would put 4 on the conveyor belt and only pay for one. The free one counts as being bought also.

I don't do it as much as I used to but that spring sure helped out for a long time.

I don't use food coupons any more. Too much work to hunt them down. After the big coupon expose fiasco a few years ago they got really crappy anyway. The online ones most of the time won't print for me. Once in a while the grocery has a deal where you get half a pound of sliced cheese with a 1lb meat purchase, if you have the coupon in the weekly flyer.

But there are still big savings to be found. Mazda sends me oil change and general service discount coupons for my car, so far that has added up to about $100. Purina sends me cat food coupons. Petco sends me $5 reward coupons every other month. I just used a 20% off coupon at Bed Bath & Beyond, buying a new toaster (and got them to take the $5 shipping fee off, because they were out of stock of the color I wanted). And yesterday we bought DH a bunch of new work clothes with Kohl's 30% off coupon. That was a huge savings. Last week I used coupons to get two free jars of seasoning at Penzeys. So I do ok.

I look at it this way for every coupon I use I've just given myself a raise.. If it's a product you use no matter the face value of your coupon is you just saved yourself some money.

Today, I saved $8.10 just in coupons (my stores double up to .99) ..I combined them with the sale items and saved a total of $30.10 for (4)- 20pks Of Scott's TP & (2)- loaves of Arnold Bread for my picky son who doesn't like homemade bread for his sandwiches.

I use to coupon big time when I worked....but now, I find we eat different....I still coupon for paper products, cleaning, soap, hba etc. If I can get something free, I'm going to get it.....I can always donate it....I also have a grandson who lives on his own, goes to school and works......he will take anything....LOL Today I got Bic pens for .49 cents....I will use them in my shoeboxes at Christmas time. I think if you see a coupon and you can get something free, we should all do it and DONATE IT....there are too many hungry kids in this world.....JMTCW

This. I look at it as I'd rather have 50 cents than owe 50cents and if I saw 50cents laying on the ground I'd sure bend over and pick it up.
Also although you may buy something with a coupon that you don't normally buy but it gives you a chance t try something new that you wouldn't have paid full price for. Call it a treat. Example.. I NEVER buy cookies. When I was doing it heavy Publix had some kind of Nabisco or Keebler cookies BOGO. I had $1 off one coupons. I ended up getting them for something like $1.20??? So 60 cents each broken down. Got 4 pkgs. Haven't bought any since though. Nice treat cheap.

I saved $39. off pet supplies at pet supply plus for a 50% savings
I always use an oil change coupon for About $10. off.

Dh didnt feel I needed to work away from home when the kids were young. I had the goal to make the equivalent of a minimum wage salary per week.
-coupons
-Mcdonalds play place or BK for the kids,so many refills and sharing wnet on
-customer appeciation day free lunches
-rebates,Walmart freebies
-garage sales,clearance in the freezer
-used clothes and then return to resale or consignment
-library book sales and then redonate to write off taxes and make money
on and on. I feel I did it most of the time. Yeah you could absolutely save a ton then but you can still do it now too.
