I have a question about my ceiling fan in my bedroom. It has started making a loud humming noise. It's been off for the winter, and I turned it on for the 1st time last night.

Is there a way to stop the humming? Is it bad to run it while it's making the noise?

Thanks for any advice!!!!!!!!!

I am:sleepy::sleepy:

If its a Hunter brand, it may have an oil well, many do. You might check the level. Ours was low and hummed as a result. If not, I'd google the brand and see if there is an on-line manual that may have some suggestions.

Don't forget to tighten the fan blades while you are up there checking it out. They loosen up over time.

What i'd do is a general maintenance of the whole fan. take it down, vac out the housing, tighten the blades, oil the pieces that need it. hang and rebalance. if it still hums, the motor could be on it's last leg.

Just thought it was age. Better have a look.

Thanks for all the advice! I'll definitely be checking it out this weekend.
I don't want to buy a new one, so if I can adjust, oil, clean, tighten it, I will!

Just like what I experience with my new ceiling fan, when I turn on they produce an unnecessary sound. So I took this about to my friend, and then she told that reinstalled my fan. I reinstalled it in a proper procedure and no noise at all.
