Chili (for chili dogs)

Recipe Description
This is a smooth "Cincinnati Style" chili that is good over hot dogs. Serve with chopped onion, shredded cheese, and your other favorite toppings.
Preparation Steps:
Level of Difficulty:
Easy
Time Needed:
2 hours
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic
1 6oz can tomato paste
1 bay leaf
1/2 t allspice
4 T cocoa powder
1 t cinnamon
2 T cider vinegar
1 T cumin
1 T chili powder (to taste)
1/2 can black beans (optional)
Serves:
Serves 6, with hot dogs.
Directions:
1. Brown the ground beef. Break up large lumps so that you have very small consistent pieces.

2. Add onions and garlic and cook until softened.

3. Add tomato paste and several cans of water, until you have a soupy consistency.

4. Stir in bay leaf, allspice, and all remaining seasonings. Black beans are optional , we like them.

5. Simmer on medium-low heat for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add liquid if necessary to keep it from drying out. Chili should be thick and smooth when it is done.
