Zhoen that sounds like a great gift and it will be a lot of fun.
Rujerro I love the idea of the spa / room package for DS1 and GF.
I love giving “experiences” as gifts. Like a season pass to the Children ‘s museum, state parks / beaches, wildlife park etc. I need to see if dd would like that this year. Last year they had so much going on they wouldn’t be able to use it so I held off. But I’m not sure about this year. If they’ve got more time I’ll do something like that.
A while back, DD15 had circled some things in a Victorian trading company catalog, and I got a lovely surprise just now when I went to order and pretty much EVERY. THING. on the list has gone cheaper. I ended up buying an extra pair of socks to get the $25 off deal-- which more than covered the cost of the socks and put a dent in the shipping cost...
I have DD19's "big" gift, which is headphones, and she has told me there is a video game she wants, but that is a download, not something you can wrap. I will also give her some gift cards to places she likes to eat... she is tricky to shop for some years... Her advent calendar this year is candles (SO heavy) and she is excited like a toddler about it and keeps sneaking peeks at the drawers.
So I am pretty much done for my little group, but open to other things if the universe puts them in my path... Wishlist is done and emailed off to the in-laws... and later today (Sunday,) I hope to go pick up some of the gift cards I am planning for extended family types (nieces, MIL, FIL) On 3 December there is a big local craft show I usually attend, as well as a flea market where I usually am able to buy paperwhite bulbs from a local man, so I am hoping to wrap everything up that weekend, literally and get the send-away gifts sent away...
I was looking at another board to see if they had any insights on if there were any good gift card promos going on, and it never fails to shock me how those people are talking about "stocking stuffers" and "cutting back this year" and its the kind of things I would categorize as "nice gifts..." It makes me appreciate my lower-middle-class family where a $25-$50 gift card is a gift, not a stocking stuffer!!! 🤣
I’m waiting for Target to have their 10% off sale on Target gift cards. I usually gift my nieces and nephew with those and it’s nice to save a bit on the total. I don’t think they have other gift cards on that sale though.
I agree Zhoen! $25 gift card is a gift lol $10 a stocking thing. I got some uk cookies for dh and vintage style dress 40s etc local place had a sale even on sale items 25% extra off so some for me and dd. from uk got ds 70s style jean bell bottoms cus he has a thing for them since I got dd the dress
Ordered pajamas for the kids today with my Wal-Mart pick up order for our elf to bring the kids December 1. But my daughter's was sold out, so will need to find them somewhere else. No ideas for husband. Just now really starting to think about it all. :/
Ordered the craft kit for my grandson and that’ll be here Friday.
I ordered these cute earrings for my granddaughters (and one set for me, lol). They look just like the Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes.
I’ve picked up some small things for stocking stuffers like hand sanitizer. The kids love those. Our daughter said they’d rather use that than wash their hands with soap and she has to get after them and remind them they have soap! Hahaha.
Angel- Hope you can find cute jammies. JCPenney? Kohl's?
I picked up:
DH- another t-shirt and sweatshirt
DS1- 2 used video games
DS1's GF- a Sephora GC, a make-up remover set
DS2- a shipwreck coin pendant on a cheap chain, new video game
My sister and family will get GC's. DH may get a GC. I am clueless this year.
Oh, I did get DS1 and GF massage gc's....The fine print said that a 20% gratuity will be collected at check-out. Since I don't want them paying it, I ordered a gc in the amount of the gratuity as well.
dh says he is at a loss for the kids and I said I had enough so get gc cus they like getting subway etc. The british store sent the cookies for dh, gave the books to dd for bday cus didn't want to dig in closet lol got vintage style dress for dd on sale.
I guess we're having a holiday dinner again this year. I picked up 2 doz hot cocoa packets in pretty boxes to put into gift bags, as well as a bag of individually wrapped peppermint sticks. Think I still have chocolate left from last year. Will keep an eye out for other small items, only have a week to get ready.
Z, it's my dance troupe's annual party. I'm not hosting, we'll go to a restaurant or someone else's house. But the tradition is to exchange small gifts like costume jewelry, hand lotion, etc. I usually get more than 10 days notice and have time to order a dozen pairs of earrings or scarves off some website, but not this year.
I’m waiting for Target to have their 10% off sale on Target gift cards. I usually gift my nieces and nephew with those and it’s nice to save a bit on the total. I don’t think they have other gift cards on that sale though.
Hikr the Target gift card sale for Target Circle members is NOW 12/3-12/4. I had to add the offer to my shopping card first and it worked. First time I have tried this, I buy a lot of groceries thru Target so that will save me some money. Thanks.
DLRCPA I just checked my email today and saw the 10% off Target is on today (and yesterday). I ordered the GC for the kids. I’m glad you got in on it too!
One of my nieces asked specifically for Home Depot gift cards this year (with the blissfully naive idea that her husband will do projects around the house <gigglesnort>), and I was able to get one off Raise for 17% off, so that was a good deal.
I put H in charge of buying the gift cards his Mom said to get for her and FIL... It is really awkward when we give them $$ and they give us $$+ in the same brands For whatever reason, I feel better about it if he's the one who picked it out... not to mention I buy/wrap EVERYTHING else... So while those cards were also available at Raise for a discount, I didn't buy them... it is worth the extra cost for me to feel like he is "participating 🤣
Christmas is s-l-o-w-l-y starting to appear here... This year the presents have been the least-difficult part, if you can believe it!!! But the tree is up and decorated, and little-by-little I am getting SOME of the decorations out. We never go crazy to start with, but this year I don't think I'll do the Christmas village, just the silly musical houses we have that the kids still love after all these years.
I had planned to do a lot tonight, since I am not working (but am nocturnal lately), but DD19 asked if her bestie could crash over because he had a fight with his family... now they are camped out in the living room and I am trying not to make a lot of noise... so argh!!!
Our lights are still up, and I will check this week and see if they still work. Maybe even today, as we might get rain tomorrow and the next day. I bought a couple of new light strands on clearance last year. DH doesn't really care but I like to set the mood for a couple of weeks at least. We'll put on a holiday table cloth and put the tree on the table. We have a huge box of christmas village stuff and have never had a place to display it.
I'm holding back on all the Christmas stuff. It's all too much for me and I don't have good memories of Christmas when I was a kid. There was always trubble between the parents, but they still wanted to celebrate a "merry" Christmas. That was disgusting to me.
We will put up a tree on December 24th because the rest of the family wants it that way. That's okay with me too.
Our new daughter-in-law brought an idea into the family: A few weeks ago we drew lots to see who gave whom a small! gift prepared. Who gives presents to whom is a secret until Christmas. We have also set the maximum value of 10 euros. So everyone gets a gift and everyone only has to worry about one gift. Nevertheless, there is a little surprise for everyone.
I like the idea. There are no mountains of gifts, you can focus on just one thing.
In the years before, we didn't give any presents at all because it was too exhausting for everyone to find something good.
Finished shopping for the grandchildren. I got hammock chairs, gel pens, a pair of earrings for each girl and that completes their gifts. I ordered the Target gift cards during the 10% off deal and I also ordered one for me in an amount that will cover stocking stuffers for everyone.
Mit yes holidays can be like that. We used to go to the movies on xmas used to be quiet but now it is one of the busy times. Lots of people here celebrate diff holidays. I agree w you Zhoen lol like if we didn't do it then would xmas happen.. Not many xmas decorations up yet here either. boys can get them from attic this weekend.
picked up the choc letters and since cat toy stockings were half price got 2 one for gift one for cats. middle cat is actually playing with toy youngest started. don't think she ever learned to be a cat before we got her at 1.
fleece sleep pants were on for $5 so got ds a pair. dd has a night gown I got last year. Dress and pants came in the mail so that is done. need to put everything in fabric bags and see what is what.
