There are many different Columbine (Aquilegia)and most are very pretty. This plant of which there appears to be two types in my garden was given to me two years ago. It thrives along the fence which is partially shaded in the late afternoon.

Those are pretty! Different than the Columbine I have growing out in my flower bed. Yours have more layers to the flower...mine look more like a star, where there is one layer that is one color and then another layer that is a different color (although, I do have some that have the same color for both layers.)

I bought one plant at the store....one I bought as a very small sad looking little plant in a coffee cup at the church rummage sale and some have just decided to join us from my neighbor's (had to cross the driveway and most of the front yard to get to my flower bed...hardy little seed!) and one that came from I don't know where...unless it came from a cross pollination type thing as it is a dark redish/purple color and I have red, blue and white ones that were growing in it last year.

Anyway, love the flowers and your adorable little dog!

Yours look really nice. I've got to move mine, they're getting no light now that the coneflowers are getting big.

I just planted some in a shady area of my yard (the plant marker said it likes full shade!). I guess if it fails to bloom, I can transplant it.
